The Exploration Potency of Bioactive Compounds of Leaves Extract Nipah (Nypa Fruticans Wurmb) from The Coast of West Aceh as Antioxidant Mohamad Gazali; Hayatun Nufus; Nurjanah Nurjanah; Zuriat Zuriat

West Aceh Region has Nypa fruticans mangrove community distributed almost ±100 Ha. N. fruticans leaves have been used as traditional cigarette paper. The objective of this study was to explore bioactive compound of N. fruticans from the coast of West Aceh as antioxidant. The extraction used 3 solvents including methanol (polar), etyl acetate (semi polar), and n-hexane (non polar). The result showed the methanol extract contained bioactive compound content such as phenolic, flavonoid, tannin, saponin, and steroid while the etyl acetate extract comprised phenolic, tannin, and steroid. Moreover, n-hexane extract only had steroid compound. The result of antioxidant activit assay showed etyl acetate extract had IC50 value 8.81 µg/mL, methanol extract had IC50 value 9.31 µg/mL and n-hexane extract was 238.47 µg/mL with ascorbic acid as positive control. It is indicated the presence of phenolic, flavonoid, tannin, and saponin in the ethyl acetate extract play the role as antioxidant.

Skipjack tuna fishery have significant contribution for production of capture fisheries at West Aceh, Aceh province. Based on that, this research aims to formulate development strategy of skipjack tuna fishery based on type D fishing port at West Aceh District. This research is using qualitative approach, where collecting data method is using survey method and purposive sampling was used for collecting data technique. Analysis hierarchy process (AHP) was used to analysis data. The result show that increasing capital for fishermen is main objective to achieve skipjack tuna fishery development. Then, fisheries business actor has strategic role for skipjack tuna fishery development. As for a scenario to develop skipjack tuna fishery is to enhance capacity of fuel station for fishermen and ice plant that is in type D fishing port. Result of this study will be expected to be consideration for fishery stakeholders in developing skipjack tuna fishery at West Aceh District and that is can improving welfare of the skipjack tuna fishermen.

The potential of Marine Fishery in Aceh Barat Daya is a source of income for fishermen in meeting their household needs. The fact shows the great potential fishing has not been able to increase the income and welfare of the fishermen. This study aims at understanding the life of fishermen in terms of income and welfare. The method used in this research is descriptive method of sampling techniques by simple rand om sampling of the population 178 motor boats. The results showed that the income of the fishermen has been already above the poverty line although it is still under the World Bank’s standard. Of the expenditure, the primary need (food) is still greater so that it is concluded that the fishermen’s life is not yet welfare. It also demonstrated the value of the average income sea is below 1, and at 43,75 % NTN fisherman families under 1. For that reason, there is a need to develop the concept of the poverty line due to changes in the cost of primary needs such as children’s are concerned(snack), phone credits (communication) and motorcycle fuel (transportation). as well as the need to increase the number and size of motor boats in exploiting the potential of fish optimally while increasing the production of fishery products , which in turn increases the income and welfare of fishermen families .

COVID-19 is a type of deadly virus that infects the human respiratory tract. Therefore, all activities must follow the health protocols follow published by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, such as social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands. The aim of this empowering community programme is to give the reinforcement for the Suak Indrapuri community that conducted routinity at coastal environment. In other hand, we also provided the touchless hand washer assistance to make it easier for people to do health protocols. This study which is a part of community service activity was conducted by using the lecture/mentoring method. The output of the activity is an increase of public awareness to always follow health protocols to every activity. The activity received a positive response from the local community. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the community in participating in this community service activity.

Alue Raya village is a subdistrict in Samatiga District that face directly with enough wide water that called river which there are several biota like crabs and fish that grew by mangrove plant including Rhizoporastylosa, RhizoporaapiculataBI danNypa fruticans. This coastal area also existed in some villages like Kuala Bubon and others that surrounded by river waters. The problem that experienced by fishermen that catch the crabs by using trap namely decreased production of crabs from year to year. Five years ago, the fishing yield still used for fulfilling their household necessesary with 2 – 4 kg/day. However, in 2017, the fishing yield only 1 – 2 kg/day. The priority problem is decreasing crabs stock in such water. To overcome this long term problem. Thus, it is necessary to undertaken crabs restocking and the control of fishing activity with body size and gonad maturity level. The community serving activity that undertaken including problem identification and forming community group as well as to propose the proposal to west of Aceh Government for helping addition of crabs stock.

Coastal area is fishermen’s home area and landed catch fish as an activity of economic life. Lhok Bubon Village is beach subdistrict of fishermen and tourism place for West Aceh community. The coastal area is front of the open oceans have beautiful scene with shallow beach and low wave. This village have a lot of local tourist. Thus, it is necessary to elevate with bussiness such as restaurant and other services. The empowering community was undertaken for giving awareness to local community from management aspect and productive economic activity where the need to tourism are secondary need. With adequate facilities and keep cleanliness of the beach. It have opportunity to be tourism place that priority for local community as marine tourim site. Economical empowerment to be one of material that conveyed to increasing the motivation for women in order to utilize the potency of coastal resources as transport of family economic in management aspect such as plannning, organizing, actuacting of tourism services as well as surveilance aspect and islamic tourism site for West Aceh community especially outside West Aceh.

Indonesia is the biggest archipelago state that have high marine biodiversity. One of the marine biodiversity that have bright prospect in the future are marine macroalgae. Marine macroalgae have distributed widely in the coastal area of Indonesia especially West South Aceh. Marine macroalga have distributed in the West South Aceh. Marine macroalgae are consist of three classes namely Rhodophyta, Phaeophyta dan Chlorophyta classes. One of the marine macroalgae that have important economical value is brown algae (Sargassum sp). However, the utilization of brown algae (Sargassum sp) has not yet optimal. It is caused by lack of knowledge and skill related marine macroalgae processing. Therefore, the researcher has conducted the activity of empowering community at Lhok Bubon Coastal area. The conducting method of the activity of empowering community including survey of brown alga’s site, the socialization of brown alga utilization and forming the coastal community group. The result that reached in conducting empowering community was the enhanching of knowledge and skill of coastal community. The conducting of empowering community were acknowledged by coastal community of Lhok Bubon. Their hope are how to process the brown alga in order to give value added for local community prosperity.

The purpose of this Community Service is to apply the research results of the proposer team's research for community empowerment in Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh. Research results are applied to the activity program MERDEKA 74 "(Minapadi Together with Local Fish 7 Species and 4 Legowo) which is a system of planting rice by cultivating fish in one rice field simultaneously. This program aims to increase farmers' income with high rice yield productivity and increase local fish production. The activity was carried out for 6 months at the Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh. The results observed included rice production and fish production in the Minapadi system. The production of 2: 1 legowo planted rice has a significant effect on the parameters of rice production, namely (16.17 kg /Ha). Meanwhile, the production of cultivated fish (7 species) are catfish, bileh fish, tilapia, goldfish, catfish, catfish and giant prawns. The 7 species are able to develop and be cultivated well.

Corona virus (COVID-19) is a type of deadly virus with a fast spreading process. This virus infects the human respiratory tract. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all activities must follow the health protocols published by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, such as social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands. The aim of this study is to provide understanding to the Kuala Bubon fishing community regarding health protocols as an effort to prevent COVID-19 and to provide touchless hand washer assistance to make it easier for people to do health protocols. This study which is a part of community service activity was conducted by using the lecture/mentoring method. The output of the activity is an increase of public awareness to always follow health protocols to every activity. The activity received a positive response from the local community. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the community in participating in this community service activity.

The seaweed are one of the potency of the marine biodiversity that give value added in pharmacy and cosmetic. The aim of this community empowerment is to increase the understanding and skill regarding the utilization of seaweed from South West Aceh as natural colour of Aceh Noodle. The community empowerment was conducted on July 2019 that located in Jalan Gajah mada Djohan Pahlawan District West Aceh Regency. The stage of activity including taking raw material, try and error in using natural colour from seaweed and socialization and training. The empowerment community that involved the producer partner in order to create a lot of innovations that useful for local community with utilizing the marine resources potency as foodstuff source and medicine.
