Abstract

This article examines the issue of Rocky Gerung's identity through the perspective of Jacques Lacan's philosophy and psychoanalysis, particularly the concept of parlêtre or speaking being. This concept asserts that humans are essentially subjects formed through language. Lacan views language not merely as a tool of communication, but as a symbolic structure that shapes identity, conveys desire, and limits subjects in the symbolic realm. The research focuses on three aspects: the Lacanian identity paradigm, the construction of Rocky Gerung's identity, and the empowerment of his thinking in the public sphere. The research method used is a literature study analyzing Lacan's works, Rocky Gerung's writings, and various seminar materials and public content in the mass media. The results of the study show that Rocky Gerung's identity is a manifestation of a Lacanian subject that is unstable, fragmented, and empty. Language plays an important role in shaping this identity while also serving as a medium for channeling desires that are never fully realized. In conclusion, Rocky Gerung's identity is a linguistic construction that continues to move within the symbolic realm, reflecting the dynamics of the unconscious and the need for recognition, as well as affirming the relevance of Lacan's thinking in understanding contemporary social identity.

Abstract

This paper examines the Artificial Intelligence (AI) application and its role in religious activities and spiritual ceremonies with special attention to how such practises relate to spiritual power in the modern world. The study uses the philosophy of analytic and phenomenological studies to assess the question of whether AIs can be identified as an ethical agent or a so-called digital prophet who can offer spiritual guidance. The paper additionally examines how the sacred power has changed in the digital era, especially in the pluralistic and religiously diverse cultures. The results suggest that AI can be used as a spiritual helper, but it is ontologically and epistemologically limited. This paper reiterates that there is a need to incorporate religious ethics when designing and implementing AI in the spiritual realms to make sure that its use conforms to the normative spiritual and moral values.

Abstract

Film is not only function as artistic expression of human condition, but also plays a crucial role in shaping knowledge and collective memory. However, the discourse of Indonesian cinema is dominated by masculine narratives, reflected in the disappearance of the name of its first female director, Ratna Asmara. The absence of Ratna Asmara's name is a tangible form of the value-laden biases operating within film archiving. This article aims to examine film archiving as a non-neutral mechanism of knowledge production, focusing on gender disparity. Employing a feminist perspective in archival studies, this research analyzes the absence of information and limited access to Ratna Asmara's films and utilizes Sandra Harding's standpoint theory and Helen Longino's contextual empiricism to explore the collective actions of knowledge agents, such as Umi Lestari and Kelas Liarsip. The findings of this study demonstrate that archival biases not only distort existing knowledge through a partial history but also reinforce and perpetuate existing gender inequalities. The restoration and archiving work on the film Dr. Samsi by communities and academics proves the necessity of marginalized perspectives to produce inclusive and equitable knowledge. These findings underscore the importance of critical reflection on the concealed politics of knowledge within film archiving

Abstract

After the 2024 Election, the emergence of the hashtag #IndonesiaGelap on social media has become a symbol of public unrest regarding the direction of national leadership. This wave of criticism reflects a moral crisis and loss of public trust in the practice of power that is considered to deviate from basic values such as justice, integrity, and trust. This phenomenon indicates a degradation of ethics in politics and government. This article aims to examine this phenomenon through an ethical philosophy approach, using the framework of Aristotle and Immanuel Kant's thinking. The research method used is qualitative-critical with interpretive-reflective analysis techniques on library data and media discourse. The results of the study show that in the context of Aristotle, Indonesian leadership lacks aretê (moral virtue) and deviates from telos (moral purpose) in the form of common welfare. Meanwhile, from Kant's perspective, the leader's actions fail to fulfill the categorical imperative principle, because they are based more on the desire for power than on universal moral principles. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need to renew ethical values in the practice of national leadership. Restoring the legitimacy of power is not enough only through structural reform, but also through the revitalization of public ethics and moral partisanship towards the people. This research is expected to contribute to building a more ethical, democratic, and public interest-oriented leadership model

Abstract

Abstract This research begins with the issue of the representation of beauty, which is often associated with the practice of violence against women. In Eka Kurniawan's novel Cantik Itu Luka, beauty is not positioned as something neutral, but rather presents as a discourse that normalizes women's bodies while simultaneously opening up opportunities for subjugation and violence. Based on these problems, this study aims to uncover how the discourse of beauty is constructed in the text, how this construction is related to the practice of violence, and how the female body is represented as a locus of power and a space of resistance. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method with a literary discourse analysis approach. The research data consists of narrative excerpts, character descriptions, and events in the novel, which are analyzed through Michel Foucault's theoretical framework, specifically the concepts of power-knowledge, discourse, and the body. The results show that beauty functions as a mechanism of power that disciplines women's bodies, trapping them in colonial and patriarchal domination, and giving rise to various forms of physical and symbolic violence. However, the novel also presents a representation of resistance through characters who refuse to submit to the dominant discourse of beauty. The conclusion of this study confirms that Cantik Itu Luka reflects the power relations over women's bodies, which remain relevant to contemporary phenomena related to beauty standards, gender-based violence, and women's resistance.

Abstract

Studies on Islamic psychology and Islamic philosophy have developed in parallel; however, their conceptual integration in addressing the balance of the soul and the formation of moral character remains fragmented and has not been systematically formulated. This article aims to analyze the conceptual framework of integrating Islamic philosophy and Islamic psychology in understanding the balance of the human soul and moral character. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, conducted through a critical analysis of relevant works in the fields of Islamic philosophy, Islamic psychology, and Islamic education. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic philosophy and Islamic psychology provides a comprehensive theoretical foundation for viewing human beings holistically, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and moral dimensions. Islamic philosophy contributes ontological and axiological frameworks concerning human nature and the purpose of life, while Islamic psychology offers insights into the dynamics of the soul and approaches to mental health development grounded in Islamic values. This study has implications for strengthening the scientific paradigm of Islamic psychology as well as for the development of more contextualized educational and moral formation practices within contemporary Muslim societies

Abstract

The Indonesian government aims to realise Indonesia Emas 2045 through strengthening character education for the younger generation. However, West Java Province still faces challenges in the form of many students experiencing moral crises and losing their direction in life, due to family or social environments that are not supportive. This condition has led to deviant behaviour, such as gang fights, drug abuse, or harmful addictive habits. In response to this, the West Java regional government has established the Panca Waluya character education programme, which combines the values of local Sundanese culture with discipline in military barracks. This study aims to analyse the influence of Panca Waluya character education in overcoming students' existential anxiety through the perspective of Søren Kierkegaard's existentialism. Using a qualitative research method based on literature study, the author expanded his knowledge through books and scientific articles on Kierkegaard's existentialism and character education, as well as empirical information from news media and the Kodam Siliwangi YouTube channel, which documented the program's implementation. Kierkegaard's theory of the three stages of life, namely aesthetic, ethical, and religious, is used to represent each individual's journey towards true happiness. The results show that the Panca Waluya character education process is in line with Kierkegaard's existentialism, especially for students who are in the aesthetic stage of life, so that they can transform towards the ethical and religious stages. Thus, the Panca Waluya education programme is effective in fostering self-awareness and moral responsibility, as well as providing subjective meaning in life for students while reducing anxiety and despair (agony).

Abstract

Louis Althusser interpretation of Marxism marks an important shift in the tradition of Marxist thought by emphasizing the epistemological break line between the work of the young Marx and the mature Marx. This break refers to Althusser's view that interprets the young Marx as an ideological figure and the mature Marx as a scientific figure. Althusser’s interpretation of Marx thought is informed by a radical change in the orientation of Marx thought by breaking away from the influence of Jeman’s classical philosophy and Feuerbach’s humanisthrough methodological and conceptual transformation. This fracture is interpreted not as a single event, but as a complex theoretical process based on historical materialism. Within the framework of this interpretation, Althusser rejects the humanist reading of Marxism by offering and alternative with a structuralist approach to emphasize the scientific production of knowledge and the strict separation of ideology and science. The research method used in this work uses philosophical hermeneutic approach by applying methodical element in the form of exploratory studies, data inference, essential analysis processing, and systematic compilation. The results of this work critically examine the concept of epistemological break put forward by Althusser and reconstruct the foundation of Marxism as a science rather than an ideology

Abstract

Since the emergence of the Sleeping Beauty Problem, the debate between thirder and halfer has continued. This debate has even evolved into a more specific form with certain modifications to test whether the thirder and halfer arguments are tenable in certain cases. However, discussions attempting to untangle this debate are relatively few. In this paper, I propose the thesis that differences in the interpretation of probability are the cause of the emergence of the thirder and halfer dualism. To demonstrate this thesis, I will argue using a conceptual analysis of the concept of ‘probability’, which is the point of difference between thirder and halfer. The analysis reveals that thirder interpret probability epistemically (epistemological interpretation), while halfer interpret probability ontically (objective interpretation). However, a review of the interpretation of probability is not enough to provide an adequate answer in terms of determining the correct interpretation of probability if this debate is expanded in the context of practical applications.

Abstract

This study aims to revisit the philosophical meaning of Hidop Orang Basudara in the context of Maluku's diverse society using Emmanuel Levinas' perspective of ethical responsibility. This study stems from the increase in intolerance and communal conflict in Maluku, which indicates a weakening of the philosophical practice of Hidop Orang Basudara, which has been interpreted more ceremonially than manifested in social practice. This study uses a descriptive-analytical qualitative method with a literature study and comparative-conceptual analysis approach to connect Levinas' ethical concepts with the values of Hidop Orang Basudara. The results of the study show that both concepts have common ground in affirming relational values, respect for the dignity of others, and rejection of egoism and exclusivism. However, there are fundamental differences in the structure of the relationship. Levinas emphasizes asymmetrical responsibility that precedes social relations, while Hidop Orang Basudara assumes symmetrical, reciprocal relations within the community. This analysis reveals that Levinas' perspective can enrich the understanding of Hidop Orang Basudara by emphasizing the dimension of unconditional responsibility towards "The Other," so that the concept of brotherhood is not only practiced ceremonially, but manifested in concrete ethical actions. This study concludes that the integration of local values and Levinasian ethics can offer a more profound ethical framework for pluralistic societies, while also opening up opportunities for further study in the contexts of education, community development, and conflict resolution.
