Abstract

Complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) affect the parts of the body involved in carrying out a job. The complaints of MSDs that often arise in weaving workers are often related to the pain experienced in the back and neck, wrists, elbows and feet. If the muscles receive static loads repeatedly for a long time, it can cause damage to muscles, nerves, tendons, joints, cartilages and intervertebral discs. The purpose of this study was to analyze ergonomics with MSDs in weaving workers in Ternate Village, Alor District. This research was a quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were all weavers in Ternate Village with a total of 45 people, all of whom were women. The sample consisted of 45 people selected by a total sampling technique. The results showed that tenure, work posture, workload, work time and lighting were related with MSDs in weaving workers in Ternate Village, Alor district with ρ-value < α (0.05). There was no relationship between temperature and complaints of musculoskeletal disorders with a ρ-value > α (0.05). Weavers need to improve work posture, and take the rest time to reduce workload and worktime.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders are complaints related to the muscle tissue system caused by certain types of work activities and body postures. Weavers may likely experience the disorders due to the weaving-related activities such as unnatural posture, length of work, and individual characteristic factors. Musculoskeletal complaints can be the initial cause of disability. The purpose of this study was to describe the risk factors for musculoskeletal complaints in weavers in Rindi Village, East Sumba Regency. This type of research is descriptive with an observational research design. A total of 60 female weavers were selected as the research sample. The study showed that the weavers who often experienced serious complaints of MSDs were in the age group ≥ 30 years, with work period more than 4 years, and work duration reached ≥ 8 hours per day. Weavers should adjust the duration of weaving and reduce repetitive movements. Weavers are recommended to take a rest for 30-60 minutes and to work in an ergonomic posture without putting excessive loads on certain parts of the body.

Abstract

Sanitation and personal hygiene in the preparation and distribution of food are essential to food traders in order to avoid causing the contamination of microorganisms in food. One cause of food insecurity is the contamination of food with toxins produced by the fungus Aspergillus flavus. Meatballs are a popular food in the Indonesian community and are always served together with tomato sauce. Those who often pay no attention to personal hygiene, merchandise, tools, and their surroundings can potentially be contaminated by the fungus Aspergillus flavus. The study was to identify the sanitation and personal hygiene of the workers and the properties of the fungus Aspergillus flavus on the meaty tomato sauce used in the Oebobo District of Kupang City. This study aims to determine the description of the sanitation and personal hygiene of the handlers and the content of Aspergillus flavus in tomato sauce for meatball trade in Oebobo District, Kupang City. This study used a descriptive research method with a cross-sectional design. The sample of this study consisted of 10 meatball traders and 10 tomato sauce for meatball merchants in Oebobo District, Kupang City. The results of the study most of the respondents had poor hygiene, namely 5 respondents. A total of 4 respondents had good sanitation equipment and 4 respondents had poor sanitation in the premises. From the results of laboratory tests, there were 2 samples of tomato sauce containing the fungus Aspergillus flavus. The conclusion from the results of this study there were 2 positive samples of the Aspergillus flavus fungus. This is most likely because the two respondents have poor hygiene, equipment sanitation, and sanitary premises that do not meet health requirements.

Abstract

Dug wells are easily contaminated with pollutants if the quality of construction is poor and if the wells are located close to the source of pollution. Water contamination in the wells in paddy fields may occur due to fertilization and pesticide spraying activities. This study aims to determine the quality of construction and the location of dug wells with sources of pollution, and pesticide substance found in well water. This research was descriptive with a quantitative approach. The study was conducted in the paddy fields of Oesao Village, Kupang Regency in October 2020. A total population of 10 dug wells was selected as the sample. The results showed that 80% of the floor, 90% of the well lip, and 20% of the wall did not meet the requirements. The research also found that 40% of the wells were near the pollutant source. Also, pesticides were identified in half of the wells. In conclusion, the construction and location of the wells had a significant relation with pesticide substances found in the water of dug wells. The Agriculture Office needs to conduct a well-prepared control planning and monitoring for pesticide use among farmers and to transfer knowledge about the waste management of pesticide plastic bottles. The Health office should educate the community about eligible construction of dug wells based on health standards.

Abstract

Incomplete antenatal care result in risks and complications of pregnancy that are not detected early and can lead maternal and infant mortality. The main factor causing the death of pregnant women each year is due to bleeding. This can be prevented with complete and rutine antenatal care. Based on data from the Melolo Health Center, the coverage of visits by pregnant women to ANC services (K1 and K4) in 2017 amounted to 579 (K1 50% and K4 48%), in 2018 there were 542 (K1 51% and K4 45%) and in 2019 amounted to 486 (K1 62% and K4 50%) and the coverage of visits by pregnant women has not reached the target set, namely K1 100% and K4 95%. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, knowledge, attitudes, distance to health services, and husband/family support with the completeness of antenatal care visits in the Melolo Health Center, East Sumba Regency in 2020. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study design. The sample in this study consisted of 66 people with the sampling technique carried out by total sampling. The data analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between age, knowledge, attitude, and husband support with completeness of antenatal care visits. Health workers especially midwives are expected to carry out monitoring and home visits of pregnant women as well as to carry out intensive communication with pregnant women and their families so that they can carry out pregnancy checks according to standard. The husband’s role in providing motivation, attention and accompanying pregnant women in conducting ANC examinations.

Abstract

Treatment of leprosy sufferers aims to break the chain of leprosy transmission. The success of leprosy treatment depends on early detections of the patient, adherence to medication, community stigma and the role of health workers. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between medication adherence, community stigma and the role of health workers in the successful treatment of leprosy patients at the Maubesi Public Health Center, North Central Timor Regency, in 2019. This research is a qualitative research. The research informants were 13 people consisting of 5 key informants and 8 supporting informants. Data processing and analysis techniques use thematic analysis. The results of the research at Maubesi Public Health Center show that the informants comply with every rule of leprosy treatment management, both short term for PB leprosy and long term for MB leprosy. Although there is a stigma and negative treatment from the community towards people with leprosy, such as the assumption that leprosy cannot be curred and the community is afraid to shake hands with people with leprosy, it does not interfere with the patient to be afraid and retreat in undergoing leprosy treatment. This is supported by the role of health workers in the discovery and treatment of leprosy patients. Patients with good support from health workers are more obedient in taking treatment. Suggestion for the Health Center to increase education about leprosy to reduce stigma in the community.

Abstract

Health problems that have not been resolved in East Nusa Tenggara due to the large number and spread in all districts/cities, namely the problem of malnutrition. It is difficult to solve the problem of malnutrition because of the variables inherent in people's lives such as low public knowledge, low parenting, infectious disease factors and also low economic problems. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between maternal knowledge, parenting styles, history of infectious diseases and family economic relations with the incidence of malnutrition among children under five in the Work Area of the Tanggaba Community Health Center, Southwest Sumba Regency. This research was designed as an analytic observational study, with a case control approach. The sample size was 76 people, divided into 38 case samples and 38 control samples. The data analysis used were univariate and bivariate. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between variables and the incidence of malnutrition in children under five, namely maternal knowledge (p-value=0.00), maternal parenting (p-value=0.00), history of infectious diseases (p-value=0.00) and economic problems (p-value=0.00). It is expected that parents, especially mothers of toddlers, always pay attention to the toddler's diet, toddler nutritional status and always clean up the surrounding environment in order to avoid the occurrence of malnutrition or malnutrition and avoid disease.
