The research was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were 88 injection acceptors. Data was collected through interviews and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the level of knowledge (p=0,015) and values in the community (p=0,005) correlated to the use of injectable contraception, while family income was not related to the use of injectable contraceptive type (p=0,656). Health workers should provide effective communication about the selection of contraception

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an effective way of preventing disease transmission risks in markets. However, the poor implementation of PHBS remains in the traditional markets of Kupang City. This study was to describe the PHBS of traders in Oeba Market, Kupang City. The PHBS includes the behavior of disposing of garbage, using healthy latrines, and throwing saliva. This study is qualitative research with seven informants consisting of one market unit head, five traders, and one cleaning service. Data were collected using in-depth interviews and observations around the market environment. The research findings showed that of the three PHBS indicators studied, informants have only sufficiently implemented the utilization of healthy latrines. The lack of facilities and support from stakeholders has exacerbated the implementation of PHBS by traders in the Oeba market. Providing enabling and reinforcing factors is necessary for the PHBS implementation by Oeba Market traders

Abstract

Health students are individuals who have a higher level of education and knowledge in the health field. However, around 37.3% of students in Indonesia, including health students, are smokers. Previous studies have shown student smokers' desire to quit smoking. This study describes changes in smoking behavior based on the action stage on health students in Kupang City in 2021. This type of research is qualitative with in-depth interview techniques. This study recruited nine health students who had a desire to change smoking behavior. This study found that four behavioral change processes (management contingency, helping relationships, counter conditioning, and stimulus control) play an essential role in the smoking cessation process in the action stage. Thus, the intervention needs to pay attention to the involvement of the four change processes in the action stage to encourage smokers to quit smoking altogether. Interventions also need to direct smokers to start the preparation phase for change, where intentions and commitment to action can be formed and become a foundation for smokers to initiate changes in smoking behavior.

Abstract

The Public Satisfaction Index (IKM) is one of the methods used to determine the quality of public services through public perception. Public services provided by the Kupang City Oepoi Community Health Center (Puskesmas Oepoi) have not met yet community expectations. The preliminary observations found several problems regarding health services rendered by Puskesmas Oepoi, such as inadequate facilities and infrastructure, limited service time, insufficient human resources, and unsatisfying handling complaints and suggestions. These, consequently, could reduce public satisfaction, which will ultimately lead to a decline in the quality of Puskesmas Oepoi public services. This study aimed to determine the IKM toward the quality of public services in Puskesmas Oepoi Kupang City. The study used a quantitative descriptive survey approach. The number of samples was 96 respondents obtained by accidental sampling technique. The data analysis technique used the guidelines of Community Satisfaction Survey consisting of nine IKM indicators. The results showed that the satisfaction level and quality of services provided by Puskesmas Oepoi Kupang City in 2019 were at the "Good" category with a total conversion value of the nine elements of IKM was 76.62. Puskesmas Oepoi should improve the IKM elements that are at the “poor” category as well as maintain the IKM elements that are at the “good” category so that the public remains satisfied with the service performance provided by Puskesmas Oepoi.

Abstract

The healthy behavior of traders is essential to prevent the risk of disease transmission in the traditional market. However, most traders do not have the awareness to behave healthily during their activities in the market. This study aimed to portray the implementation of healthy behavior among Oeba Market traders. The portrayal consisted of mosquito larvae eradicating behavior, smoking behavior, and the behavior of using clean water. This research utilized a qualitative approach with six informants who are permanent traders in the Oeba traditional market. Data collection employed observations and in-depth interviews. The results showed that informants had only applied clean water using behavior. Barriers such as inadequate facilities and lack of health information and stakeholders’ supports have contributed to the unwillingness and inability to apply non-smoking and mosquito larvae eradicating behavior in the traditional market. Effective communication and supporting facilities provision could be the key to encourage healthy behavior by market traders.
