Abstract

Technological advances in the construction world are beneficial, among others, to support modeling, planning, cost estimation, mass changes, building continuity, and building management. A technology that is widely used in the construction industry is Building Information Modeling (BIM). Accuracy in estimating construction costs is necessary to achieve an effective value during the planning process. Budgeting for development projects still uses traditional methods for much better results. Therefore, this study uses the concept of 5D dimensional BIM to analyze the volume and cost using the concept (BIM) with conventional methods on the work of the 2-story structure of a type 170 house in Balikpapan City. The results of the research on the construction structure of a 2-story home in the city of Balikpapan using the 5D BIM concept with a concrete volume of 2661.69 kg for Rp 46,812,00389.24 and a concrete volume of 27.13 m3 for Rp 56,203,185.16. The difference in iron volume is 19.52%. Meanwhile, the difference in concrete volume is 15.60%, which means that the calculation using the 5D Building Information Modeling (BIM) concept supported by Autodesk Revit software is lower than planned.

Abstract

Clay soil has high water content, high plasticity, and low bearing capacity, which often causes structural problems in construction projects, as observed at the research location on Jl. Siak II, Masjid Raya Province of Riau area, where structural settlement occurred due to insufficient soil bearing capacity. This study aims to improve the physical properties and bearing capacity of clay soil through stabilization using a mixture of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) and quicklime. Laboratory tests were performed using a mixture variation of 22.5% SBE and 25% quicklime with curing durations of 0, 4, and 7 days and a soaking period of 4 days. The laboratory program included water content, specific gravity, sieve analysis, Standard Proctor compaction, and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests. The untreated soil exhibited a water content of 29.45%, a specific gravity of 2.43 g/cm³, 40.44% retained on sieve No.200, and a maximum dry density of 1.57 kN/m³ at an optimum moisture content of 20.8%. The CBR value of the untreated soil increased with curing time, reaching 13.99% on the 7th day. For the stabilized soil, the highest CBR improvement was achieved by the mixture of soil + SBE + quicklime with 7 days of curing, reaching 29.36%, while the best CBR under 4-day soaking occurred in the mixture of soil + quicklime with a CBR value of 20.75%. These findings indicate that the combined use of SBE and quicklime is effective in enhancing the bearing capacity of clay soil, with optimal performance observed after 7 days of curing.

Abstract

The ongoing construction of the project requires a fairly large allocation of funds, and it is necessary to reconsider whether the design used is optimal. This can be done by reviewing the project planning design so that it is possible to make cost savings by identifying and reducing unnecessary costs without reducing the level of quality, reliability and function of the project itself. Carrying out value engineering techniques, namely carrying out cost analyzes by comparing the costs per item with the details of each job from the contractor's offer to find the cheapest price up to the negotiation stage for cost savings and efficiency. The AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method can be used as a solution to problems in finding decisions, and for assessment using a Likert scale questionnaire. Value engineering in the planning review by taking a case study of an ongoing project in the Pengambengan area of Bali, namely the integrated fishing port project. There are 3 alternatives compared to the planning budget, namely breakdown analysis techniques (Work Breakdown Structure), cost modeling techniques (Cost modeling techniques), and Delphi techniques (Delphi Teqhnique). In value engineering, you can see the price comparison for each work item for planning reviews. The results for the final review based on value engineering RAB planning estimate Rp. 1,626,877,637,500. The stages in the AHP method analysis are determining the objective of the analysis, namely value engineering in selecting contractors, determining the analysis criteria: Cost Budget Plan, Detailed Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Implementation Time, as well as determining alternative options

Abstract

Investment in roads such as toll roads is considered a catalyst for regional connectivity. On the other hand, there are negative and positive externalities that are felt in the area where the infrastructure is being developed. This research was conducted to identify the influence of perceived accessibility and highway nuisance experienced by residential areas due to the presence of new road infrastructure, specifically the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road. This research studied the extent of the impact of the perceived trade-off between increased accessibility and nuisance highway activities on residential satisfaction and the desire to move. The Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method was used to examine the framework of influences shaping residential satisfaction. The analysis was based on a survei collected from 603 respondents lived within a 1000m radius of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Section 1, covering 3 districts/cities: Serang City, Serang Regency, and Lebak Regency. The constructs include components of perceived highway nuisance, perceived accessibility, perceived and residential characteristics, and socioeconomic characteristics. The results show that perceived highway disturbances (such as perceived noise, air pollution, and interaction restrictions/barrief effect), residential characteristics, and socioeconomic characteristics do not have a significant effect on residential satisfaction. However, increasing perceived accessibility (such as perceived destination attributes, activity distribution, travel resistance, and transportation supply) and perceived occupancy are important factors in increasing residential satisfaction. The results also show that perceived residential satisfaction still increases the moving intention.

Abstract

Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects face complex challenges such as multidisciplinary coordination, tight schedules, material procurement risks, and design change dynamics, which require the crucial role of Construction Management Consultants (CMCs) in ensuring the achievement of time, cost, and quality targets. This study analyzes the influence of expert competence, quality management, and communication on CMC performance in the coal processing facility construction project in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra. The study employs a quantitative approach using research instruments developed based on indicators of expert competence, quality management, and communication. Instrument validation was conducted using item analysis with Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient, while reliability was measured using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. Data were analyzed using partial correlation and multiple regression techniques. The results of the study indicate: (1) Expert competence has a significant positive effect on KMK performance (ry1 = 0.377 > 0) with the regression equation Ŷ = 19.843 + 0.144 X1; (2) Quality management has a significant effect (ry2 = 0.543 > 0) with the equation Ŷ = 19.040 + 0.174 X2; (3) Communication makes an important contribution (ry3 = 0.471 > 0) with the equation Ŷ = 19.590 + 0.152 X3. Multiple regression analysis shows that the three variables together explain 82% of the variance in performance (ry123 = 0.9272 > 0) with the equation Ŷ = 3.9547 + 0.200 × X1 + 0.1995 × X2 + 0.2237 × X3. These findings confirm that the performance of construction management consultants on EPC projects is significantly influenced by expert competence, quality management, and communication. The study recommends the need for standardization of competencies, implementation of an integrated quality management system, and development of an effective communication model to improve the performance of CMC on similar projects.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system at Bandung State Polytechnic as a strategy for water resource conservation and strengthening the Green Campus concept. The research was conducted by identifying the existing condition of the RWH system at 25 campus building points, analyzing hydrological potential using BMKG rainfall data from 2014–2024, as well as evaluating efficiency and developing technical optimization recommendations. The existing RWH system is dominated by tanks with a capacity of 1,050–2,000 liters, which do not yet function optimally due to limited capacity, channel blockages, and variations in pipe diameter. The analysis shows an average annual rainfall of 2,831 mm with a potential rainwater catchment of up to 70 m³ per month, sufficient to meet 25–30% of the campus's non-potable water demand. System optimization is proposed by increasing tank capacity to 5,000–10,000 liters, using 3–4 inch pipes, and implementing multi-layer filtration and automated control, thus increasing system efficiency to 40–60%. The integrated system prototype in classrooms and laboratories has been proven to reduce PDAM water consumption by 40% and surface runoff by up to 35%. The research outcomes support the achievement of UI GreenMetric water conservation indicators and contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 6 and 13. This study provides recommendations for an adaptive RWH system replication model for other educational institutions in Indonesia to manage water resources sustainably and efficiently.
