Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ character and personality, particularly at the junior high school level, which represents a transitional phase marked by identity formation. At this stage, students are vulnerable to various environmental influences, making systematic efforts necessary to instill moral, ethical, and religious values. One strategy that schools can implement to address this need is the integration of religious activities as a means of habituation and character reinforcement. SMPN 3 Narmada responded to this need by implementing the Morning Qur’an Recitation and Tahfidz Program (Pantadz), conducted every morning for 20 minutes. The program includes Qur’an recitation activities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as well as tahfidz activities on Fridays, and involves all students from grades VII to IX. The implementation of this program was based on findings from Islamic Education teachers and classroom teachers indicating that some students had not yet achieved fluency in reading the Qur’an. In addition, data from Guidance and Counseling teachers revealed character and moral issues among a number of students. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Pantadz program in shaping students’ character. The research focuses on the influence of morning Qur’an recitation activities on character development, the implementation process, the character aspects that develop, supporting and inhibiting factors, and the long-term impact on students’ spiritual intelligence and social interactions. The findings of this study are expected to provide recommendations for schools to improve the quality and sustainability of the Pantadz program in a more effective and holistic manner.

Abstract

West Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Barat/NTB) has demonstrated a strong commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through various policies and strategic documents. However, among the many contributing sectors, the livestock sector—particularly cattle farming—has not received sufficient attention, despite its substantial contribution to GHG emissions in line with the increasing cattle population, which has exceeded 1.3 million heads. Improperly managed cattle manure contributes significantly to methane (CH₄) emissions, which have a much higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide (CO₂). This study aims to analyze the potential utilization of cattle manure as a biogas feedstock, estimate the amount of energy generated, and assess its contribution to GHG emission reduction in supporting the achievement of Net Zero Emissions (NZE) in NTB Province by 2050. The research employs a mixed qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach through literature review, secondary data analysis, and limited interviews with the NTB Provincial Office of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda). The results indicate that with 6,150 constructed biogas units utilizing approximately 12,300 cattle, the potential GHG emission reduction reaches 26,658.65 tons CO₂e per year, equivalent to about 0.625% of the total emission potential from the cattle livestock waste sector in NTB. This emission reduction is derived from methane (CH₄) emission avoidance and the substitution of fossil fuels such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). In addition to climate mitigation benefits, biogas utilization provides economic advantages through household energy savings and supports the implementation of a circular economy by utilizing bio-slurry as organic fertilizer. Although the current level of biogas utilization remains relatively low compared to its potential, biogas technology has proven to be a strategic and sustainable solution for livestock waste management, renewable energy development, and climate change mitigation efforts in NTB Province.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of information technology (IT)-based interactive media in the learning process at the elementary school level and to identify its influence on enhancing students’ learning interest. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Lepak, located in East Sakra Subdistrict, Central Lombok Regency. This study employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory method. Data collection techniques included direct classroom observations, in-depth interviews with key informants, and the collection of supporting documents. The research informants consisted of the school principal, classroom teachers, and upper-grade students. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles and Huberman, which comprises three main stages: data reduction, data display, and systematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers at SDN 1 Lepak have actively utilized various forms of interactive learning media, including educational videos, digital images, technology-based quizzes, and other digital learning applications. The use of these media has been proven to encourage active student participation and strengthen their understanding of the learning materials. From the students’ perspective, the use of interactive media has had a positive impact on learning motivation, as reflected in increased enthusiasm, active engagement, and conceptual understanding. Challenges such as technical limitations and initial student adaptation were effectively addressed through teacher guidance and internal school training. Overall, the results demonstrate that IT-based interactive media are effective in promoting active participation, creating an enjoyable learning environment, and enhancing students’ comprehension, in line with the principles of cognitivism and constructivism, and are therefore recommended for implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed at improving students’ learning outcomes in Mathematics through the implementation of a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach integrating the traditional games Cungklik and Boi. The research subjects consisted of 24 fifth-grade students at SDN 33 Mataram. The study was conducted in two cycles using the Kurt Lewin CAR model, which includes the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation and tests, including diagnostic tests and learning outcome assessments. The results showed that the application of the CRT approach through traditional games significantly improved students’ learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle stage, the level of learning mastery reached only 37.51% with an average score of 71. After the implementation in Cycle I, mastery increased to 79.16% with an average score of 83.79. In Cycle II, learning mastery further improved to 91.67% with an average score of 90.29. In addition to quantitative improvements, students’ active engagement, enthusiasm, and collaboration also increased throughout the learning process. These findings indicate that the CRT approach, which incorporates local cultural contexts into Mathematics learning, is effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes and engagement.

Abstract

This study aimed to strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Mataram through the implementation of a character-based learning model in Indonesian language instruction. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 27 students of class VII D. Data were collected through observation, attitude assessment, and documentation. The observed indicators of the Pancasila Student Profile included cooperation, independence, critical reasoning, and integrity. The results showed an improvement in the achievement of the Pancasila Student Profile among students. In Cycle I, the achievement percentage reached 62% and was categorized as fair, while in Cycle II it increased to 85% with a very good category. In addition, students’ activeness, discipline, and responsibility in Indonesian language learning also showed significant improvement. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of a character-based learning model is effective in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Mataram.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Ranking 1 game method in science learning on the cooperative skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 36 Cakranegara. The research employed a pre-experimental design using the one-group pretest–posttest model, in which only a single class was involved without a comparison group. The research sample consisted of 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected using a questionnaire designed to measure students’ cooperative skills. Prior to hypothesis testing, prerequisite tests including normality and homogeneity tests were conducted. The hypothesis was tested using a t-test to determine the significance of the difference between pretest and posttest results. The results of the hypothesis test indicated that the calculated t-value (11.055) was greater than the t-table value (1.725), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis and the rejection of the null hypothesis. These findings demonstrate that the Ranking 1 game method has a significant effect on improving students’ cooperative skills in science learning. Therefore, the implementation of game-based learning methods such as Ranking 1 can be considered an effective instructional strategy to enhance student cooperation in elementary science classrooms.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ academic achievement through the implementation of the discovery learning model. The application of this model provides students with direct learning experiences by engaging them in experimental activities that facilitate the independent discovery of mathematical concepts and principles. The research problem focused on how the implementation of discovery learning could enhance mathematics learning achievement of Grade VI A students at SDN 1 Kekeri. This study described the implementation of the discovery learning model in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving Grade VI A students of SDN 1 Kekeri, Gunung Sari District, West Lombok Regency. The data analysis revealed that students’ learning activities at the classical level reached 61.86% in Cycle I and increased to 74.99% in Cycle II. Furthermore, students’ learning achievement showed a significant improvement of 30.30%, increasing from 60.60% in Cycle I to 90.90% in Cycle II. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the discovery learning model effectively improved students’ mathematics learning outcomes and achieved learning mastery.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the role of work culture as a determining factor of school performance at the junior secondary school (SMP equivalent) level through a literature review approach. The research method employed was library research using a qualitative-descriptive approach, analyzing national and international journal articles as well as academic books published between 2020 and 2024. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques with thematic synthesis to identify patterns, trends, and key findings related to the relationship between work culture and school performance. The results of the review indicate that a strong, positive, and consistently internalized work culture contributes significantly to improving teacher performance, school managerial effectiveness, and the quality of educational services. Furthermore, principal leadership and organizational climate serve as reinforcing factors in the formation and development of work culture. These findings emphasize that work culture is a strategic element that cannot be separated from efforts to enhance school performance, particularly at the junior secondary school level, which has its own characteristics and challenges.

Abstract

Social change, technological development, and increasing demands for educational quality require educational institutions to continuously adapt and engage in sustainable learning. In this context, the concept of a learning organization is highly relevant, including in modern Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the learning organization concept at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Campus 7 using Peter Senge’s five disciplines: personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, team learning, and systems thinking. This research employed a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving KMI leaders, educational staff, and teachers. The findings reveal that Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Campus 7 has implemented all five disciplines in an integrated manner within its learning system and institutional management. These results indicate that modern Islamic boarding schools have strong potential to develop as adaptive and sustainable learning organizations in response to contemporary educational challenges.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to examine the improvement of students’ character through Civics Education (Pancasila and Civic Education/PPKn) learning. The research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of three learning meetings. Data were collected using observation sheets, questionnaires, and tests focusing on three main character aspects: honesty, discipline, and hard work. In Cycle I, the observation results showed that students’ character development was still at a moderate level, as indicated by varied frequencies across the measured aspects. In Cycle II, there was a noticeable improvement in all character aspects, particularly in honesty and discipline, as reflected by an increase in the frequency of “always” and “often” responses and the elimination of “never” responses. The findings indicate that the implementation of PPKn learning effectively contributes to strengthening students’ character development. Therefore, it can be concluded that PPKn learning plays a significant role in enhancing students’ character values when applied through systematic and reflective classroom action research.
