Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on the mathematics learning outcomes of tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Sleman and to compare its effectiveness with conventional learning. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 72 students, divided into an experimental class (36 students) and a control class (36 students), selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable essay test on statistics. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, paired samples t-test, independent samples t-test, and Cohen's d effect size analysis. The results revealed a significant improvement in students' mathematics learning outcomes after the implementation of the CTL model. The independent samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. In addition, the effect size analysis produced a Cohen's d value of 0.87, which falls into the large category, indicating that the CTL model had a strong practical effect on improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. These findings suggest that the CTL model is an effective alternative learning strategy for promoting meaningful, contextual, and student-centered mathematics learning.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the digital literacy and learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) of fifth-grade students at SDN 39 Cakranegara through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by interactive media. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year using the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research model, which consisted of two cycles. Each cycle comprised four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 28 fifth-grade students, consisting of 14 boys and 14 girls. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, learning achievement tests, and documentation. The findings indicated that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by interactive media significantly improved students' learning activities and learning outcomes. Classical learning mastery increased from 64.29% in Cycle I to 89.29% in Cycle II, exceeding the minimum success criterion of 85%. The mean student score also improved from 72.14 in Cycle I to 84.68 in Cycle II, surpassing the minimum criterion of 80. Student activity increased from 76% (good category) in Cycle I to 91% (very good category) in Cycle II. Furthermore, students demonstrated improved abilities to access, manage, and utilize digital information during the learning process, indicating enhanced digital literacy. These improvements occurred because the PBL model provided opportunities for students to engage actively in solving authentic problems, while the interactive media made learning more engaging and contextual. Therefore, the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by interactive media was effective in improving digital literacy and learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) among fifth-grade students at SDN 39 Cakranegara. This model can serve as an innovative instructional alternative for enhancing the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential competencies in 21st-century learning; however, many elementary school students still experience difficulties in analyzing information, evaluating evidence, drawing conclusions, and explaining their reasoning during science learning. This study aimed to describe the implementation of animated video media and improve students’ critical thinking skills in learning the human respiratory system in Grade V-C of SDN Rawamangun 02. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted from April to May 2026 in three cycles involving 30 students. Data were collected through observation, written tests, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of animated video media was carried out effectively, as indicated by the improvement in teacher performance from 75.00% in Cycle I to 95.00% in Cycle III. Students’ critical thinking skills also improved, as reflected in the observation results, which increased from 57.14% to 89.29%, and in the written test results, which increased from 50.00% to 86.67%. The improvement was evident in the aspects of analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. The findings indicate that animated video media can effectively enhance students’ critical thinking skills in science learning, particularly on the topic of the human respiratory system. Therefore, animated video media can serve as an alternative instructional medium to support the development of critical thinking skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

The availability of health facilities that are evenly distributed and easily accessible is an important factor in supporting public health services. This study aims to analyze the distribution and accessibility of healthcare facilities in Surakarta City in 2025 using a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach. The research employs a quantitative method with a census approach to all hospitals and community health centers in Surakarta City. Spatial data were obtained from the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Google Earth, and the Surakarta City Health Office, and then analyzed using spatial mapping and the Multiple Ring Buffer method on ArcGIS. The research results show that the distribution of hospitals has a clustered pattern and is concentrated in the Laweyan, Banjarsari, Jebres, and Pasar Kliwon sub-districts, while community health centers are more evenly distributed across all sub-districts. Accessibility analysis shows that the central area of Surakarta City has a higher level of hospital accessibility compared to the peripheral areas due to the concentration of healthcare facilities and a better transportation network. Although most areas are within the coverage of hospital services, there are still some areas in the northern, eastern, and southern parts of the city that are in the outermost reach zone. The research results show that the spatial distribution of healthcare facilities affects the level of accessibility to public health services in the city of Surakarta.

Abstract

Learning interest is one of the important factors that influence students' success in the learning process, particularly in mathematics. However, in reality, students' interest in mathematics is still relatively low because many students perceive mathematics as a difficult and boring subject. This condition causes students to be less active and less enthusiastic in participating in learning activities. This study aimed to determine the effect of Deep Learning-based mathematics instruction on the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SDN Inpres Sanolo. The study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 15 students selected using the total sampling technique, in which all members of the population are included as research participants. Since the study involved only 15 fifth-grade students, all students were used as the sample. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed that the implementation of Deep Learning-based mathematics instruction was able to improve students' learning interest. The average learning interest score increased from 48.3 in the pretest to 81.3 in the posttest. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test indicated a significance value of less than 0.001, meaning that there was a significant effect of Deep Learning-based mathematics instruction on students' learning interest. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis result of 75% indicated a moderately effective category. Therefore, it can be concluded that Deep Learning-based mathematics instruction has a positive and significant effect on improving the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SDN Inpres Sanolo.

Abstract

Self-esteem is an individual’s assessment of themselves that can influence students’ behavior and engagement in the learning process. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social studies learning engagement among fifth-grade students at an elementary school in Tebet Timur, South Jakarta. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 126 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through self-esteem questionnaires and social studies learning engagement questionnaires, then analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test after conducting prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and the linearity test. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-esteem and social studies learning engagement, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.678 and a significance level of p < 0.001. This means that the higher a student’s self-esteem, the higher their social studies learning engagement, with a contribution of 46% based on the coefficient of determination. The results of this study indicate that self-esteem is one of the psychological factors that play a role in encouraging students’ active participation in learning. Students with high self-esteem tend to be more confident and willing to actively participate by asking questions, answering questions, engaging in discussions, and expressing their opinions during the social studies learning process

Abstract

Development of Digital Instructional Materials Using Heyzine Flipbook to Improve Students’ Learning Motivation on the Topic of Mutual Cooperation in the Surrounding Environment. Students' learning motivation in the topic of Mutual Cooperation in the Surrounding Environment was found to be relatively low. Based on the results of the initial classroom observations, this condition was indicated by students' low enthusiasm during the learning process, the limited use of digital teaching materials, and the predominance of conventional teaching methods. Therefore, this study aimed to develop digital teaching materials using heyzine flipbook and examine their feasibility and effectiveness for elementary school learning. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research subjects consisted of 36 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Kracak 01, selected using a random sampling technique. The research instruments included expert validation sheets (content, language, and media), teacher and student response questionnaires, and a learning motivation questionnaire. The validation results showed average scores of 98% from the content expert, 86% from the language expert, and 98% from the media expert, indicating that the product was highly feasible. The limited field trial showed teacher responses of 98% and student responses of 88.6%, both categorized as highly practical. The N-Gain analysis yielded an average score of 0.71, which falls into the high category. Therefore, the digital teaching materials developed using heyzine flipbook were found to be feasible, practical, and effective in improving the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Kracak 01.

Abstract

The use of digital teaching materials at SDN Bantarkemang 6 is still limited and lacks variety, causing students to experience difficulties in understanding the topic of Traditions and Culture of the Surrounding Community, resulting in low learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop a Genially-based E-Module on this topic and determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students' learning outcomes. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model. The participants were 27 fourth-grade students of Class IV B at SDN Bantarkemang 6. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The validation scores were 93,33% from the media expert, 100% from the material expert, and 92% from the language expert, with an average of 95.11%, categorized as very valid. Student and teacher responses were 89.09% and 100%, respectively, with an average of 94.54%, categorized as very practical. The product's effectiveness was indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.77, categorized as high. Therefore, the Genially-based E-Module was found to be very valid, very practical, and effective in improving students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This quantitative study aims to determine the improvement and effectiveness of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model using a Deep Learning approach on students’ scientific reasoning regarding the topics of temperature and heat. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was applied in this study. The sample consisted of 36 11th-grade MIPA students at a public high school in Bandung, selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using a scientific reasoning test adapted from the Lawson Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (LCTSR), which had been tailored to the subject matter. The results showed a significant improvement in scientific reasoning, with the average pretest score increasing from 28.31 to 58.61 on the posttest, and achieving an average N-gain score of 0.43 (moderate category). The greatest improvement occurred in the correlational aspect (N-gain = 0.54), followed by proportional (0.49), hypothesis-deductive (0.44), probabilistic (0.42), conservation (0.36), and variable control (0.25). Furthermore, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test confirmed that this model is significantly effective (Z = -5.242, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the Problem-Based Learning model with a Deep Learning approach enhances scientific reasoning by promoting active inquiry and reflective thinking. It was concluded that the implemented learning model effectively improves students’ scientific reasoning, particularly in analyzing relationships between variables in physics concepts.

Abstract

This study was motivated by students’ low conceptual understanding in science education. The study aimed to examine the difference in mean pretest and posttest scores after implementing the 7E Learning Cycle model aided by a Pop-Up Book, as well as to determine the improvement in students’ conceptual understanding through the N-Gain test. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study subjects consisted of 24 fourth-grade students at SD 4 Dersalam, selected using saturation sampling. Data were collected through tests, observations, and interviews, then analyzed using normality tests, the Paired Sample t-test, and the N-Gain test. The results showed that the 7E Learning Cycle model supported by Pop-Up Book media had a significant effect on students’ conceptual understanding of IPAS. The results indicated that students’ average scores increased from 60.9 on the pretest to 85.8 on the posttest. The N-Gain test result of 0.6461 falls into the moderate category with an effectiveness of 64.6% (moderately effective). These findings indicate that the 7E Learning Cycle model supported by Pop-Up Book media can serve as an alternative learning approach to enhance students’ understanding of IPAS concepts and support active, meaningful, and student-centered learning.
