Abstract

Students have acquainted with speed from their environment but it is not easy for them to learn the concept of speed since according to Gravemeijer (2007) , the concept of speed is still one of the most difficult quantities. What students learn about speed will be developed when they study at higher education it is very important for teacher to give support for the students so that they are not only able to use the formula deal with the speed but also know the reason behind the formula and how to apply it in other situations. Hence, a series of learning activities which in line with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) was designed. Design research was chosen as the general heading of the research. It was conducted in SD Al-Fatah(Full day School) in Surabaya-Indonesia with a teacher and 25 students in fifth grade. Research findings show that “paper tapes activity” can lead the students to develop their notion on the unit of speed. Students realise that in order to compare the speed they must be aware of both distance and time as the components of the speed. The function of paper tapes which the students made gradually changing in line with students' thinking process. At the first time, it might only as the path for the toy cars, but then it shows the distance travelled by the car. Finally, students modified those paper tapes as the visualization of the unit of speed which help them to made a table as a strating point to come to the other units of speed.

Abstract

Komunikasi matematika sangat diperlukan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Dengan adanya kemampuan komunikasi matematika peserta didik dapat menyatakan ide-ide matematika dalam bentuk simbol, gambar, grafik, tabel dan model matematika. Para ahli menyatakan bahwa setiap individu memiliki delapan kecerdasan yang ada pada dirinya. Dalam mengkomunikasikan ide-ide matematika, kecerdasan yang digunakan oleh peserta didik adalah kecerdasan linguistik, interpersonal dan intrapersonal. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecerdasan linguistik, interpersonal dan intrapersonal terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematika peserta didikkelas VII MTs di Kecamatan Manyar, baik secara simultan (bersama-sama) ataupun secara parsial. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VII MTs di Kecamatan Manyar yang berjumlah 366 peserta didik dan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan rumus slovin dengan taraf kesalahan sebesar 5%, maka jumlah sampel sebanyak 191 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket multiple intelligence dan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika.Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, maka kesimpulan yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) Secara parsial kecerdasan linguistik, interpersonal dan intrapersonal masing-masing berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematika peserta didik kelas VII MTs di Kecamatan Manyar, dan (2) secara simultan kecerdasan linguistik, interpersonal dan intrapersonal bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematika peserta didik kelas VII MTs di KecamatanManyar.

Abstract

Pendidikan anak usia dini dimulai sejak lahir sampai berkisar 6 tahun, karena pada usia ini merupakan masa yang sangat menentukan dalam pembentukan karakter dan kepribadian anak. Tujuan pendidikan anak usia dini adalah mengembangkan berbagai potensi anak sejak dini sebagai persiapan untuk hidup dan dapat menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungannya. Untuk itu metode penelitian deskriptif yang berlandaskan pada library research merupakan pendekatan yang sangat efektif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor utama dalam mendidik anak usia dini dimulai dari keluarga, masyarakat, dan pemerintah yang harus bersinergi satu sama lain.

Abstract

Writing is a productive skill which makes the students managing the ideas into texts or paragraphs. Writing skill is one of the things that noticed by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture. It can be seen at the curriculum. The curriculum expects that the students will be able to write in English texts well at the end of learning process. However to reach the goal at curriculum is not easy. It because the students have a lot of problems in learning writing. For instance, when the students write paragraph, they usually has no unity so the content of each paragraph did not appropriate with the topic. Then, the students difficult to organize ideas properly. Besides that, the students also difficult to choose the appropriate words. These problems are caused by the ways students learn writing are not really effective. To solve the problems, the researcher use Graphic Organizer with Schoology as the alternative in teaching writing. This study was investigate the significant effect of Graphic Organizer with Schoology on Students’ Writing Skill. The researcher chose eleventh grade at MA Masyhudiyah Giri to conduct this study. The sample was 11 MIPA 2 as the experimental group and 11 MIPA 3 as the control group. Both of class consisted of 30 students. So, the number of the participants in this study was 60 students. The research finding showed that there was a signinificant difference between experimental group who were taught by using graphic organizer with schoology and control group who were taught by only using graphic organizer. It is proven by the result of sig. (2-tailed) is lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). So, the null hypothesis can be rejected. It means that Graphic Organizer with Schoology has significantly effects on students’ writing skill. Therefore, the researcher suggest to the English teacher for Implementing of Graphic Organizer with Schoology as the alternative in teaching writing. For the future researcher, the researcher hopes that can use Graphic Organizer with Schoology in different way to develop other skill such as reading skill to make a difference with this study

Abstract

This study attempts to describe how the students achieve reading ability progress using the Problem Posing Method (henceforth PPM). Based on the early observation stage, it is found that subjects to this study tended be difficult comprehending English texts particularly report text. The PPM was opted to renew the teaching method in the class since it emphasized that learning should be started by knowledge, experience, and then related to real concept. To solve the problems, Classroom Action Research (henceforth CAR) design by Kemmis and McTaggart (1998) was done, consisting of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The third year students at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Malang consisting of twelve students are subject to this study. While the instruments of the study covered observation and test. The results of this study found that students’ difficulty in reading report text could be drastically reduced within one cycle to meet the criteria of success.

Abstract

Representasi matematis sangat dibutuhkan oleh peserta didik agar dapat dengan mudahmenyampaikan ide-ide dan gagasan dengan menginterpretasikan pemikiran terhadap suatumasalah matematika. Dalam teori perkembangan kognitif, Bruner membedakan representasiatas enactive, iconic dan symbolic. Representasi matematis dapat dilatih dan dikembangkanmelalui kebiasaan menyelesikan soal-soal geometri. Selain itu representasi matematis eratkaitannya dengan kemampuan matematika dan jenis kelamin. Sehingga tujuan penelitian iniadalah untuk mendeskripsikan representasi matematis peserta didik menurut pandangan Brunerdalam menyelesaika soal geometri ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika (tinggi, sedang, danrendah) dan jenis kelamin (laki-laki dan perempuan) di SMPN 1 Duduk SampeyanPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah 6peserta didik kelas VIII-H SMPN 1 Duduk Sampeyan. Metode pengumpulan data yangdigunakan adalah metode tes dan wawancara. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian iniadalah tes kemampuan matematika, tes representasi matematis, dan pedoman wawancara.Dari hasil analisis data, representasi matematis peserta didik laki-laki yang memilikikemampuan matematika tinggi dapat memenuhi ketiga indikator representasi matematis, pesertadidik laki-laki yang memiliki kemampuan matematika sedang dapat memenuhi ketiga indikatorrepresentasi matematis, sedangkan peserta didik laki-laki yang memiliki kemampuanmatematika rendah hanya dapat memenuhi dua indikator representasi matematis. Representasimatematis peserta didik perempuan yang memiliki kemampuan matematika tinggi dapatmemenuhi ketiga indikator representasi matematis, peserta didik perempuan yang memilikikemampuan matematika sedang dapat memenuhi dua indikator representasi matematis,sedangkan peserta didik perempuan yang memiliki kemampuan matematika rendah tidak dapatmemenuhi ketiga indikator representasi matematis.

Abstract

Speaking skill is one of important skills in learning English as Foreign Language. It is also the most difficult skill for EFL students. Therefore, the students should improve their speaking ability. One of the main ways is through the speaking activities. In fact, there are many factors that influence the success of EFL students’ speaking activities. One of the main factors is the chosen topics. In this study, the writer wants to know the kind of chosen topics which are used on speaking activities by EFL students, how far the influence of the chosen topics itself on speaking activities, and the reasons of choosing certain topics. The findings of this study present that most of EFL students tend to use the kind of topics of social, health, and culture. The chosen topics also have many influences on the EFL students’ speaking activities and their performance. The interesting topics especially about hot issues which happen in society can increase the students’ interest. Then, the best chosen topics make the EFL students’ speaking activities more interactive and successful. The favourite or interesting topics will also make the students more eager and do better on their speaking activities. Moreover, the EFL students choose certain topics for some reasons. Firstly, they are interested in the issues in the topic. Secondly, the EFL students use certain topics because they have their own experience about that topic. Thirdly, the EFL students tend to use hot issues in society to become their chosen topics on speaking activities. Finally, the EFL students use certain topics because they like a challenge; they also want to enhance their speaking ability, so they choose hard topics as their chosen topics on speaking activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dari kemampuan mahasiswa yang kurang sensitif terhadap masalah-masalah, memunculkan solusi dari permasalahan yang ada, kurang dalam memunculkan jawaban alternatif, kurang dalam mencari solusi suatu permasalahan. Solusi yang diberikan untuk mengatasi adalah dengan menerapakan model pembelajaran jigsaw. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa terhadap model pembelajaran jigsaw. Metode yang diterapkan dalam peneletian ini adalah lesson study yang terdiri dari 3 siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan lembar observasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa dan aktivitas dalam pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan di setiap siklusnya dan memenuhi indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan.

Abstract

Motivation becomes an important part in the successful of teaching learning process. English teachers should concern to find the way in teaching to improve students' motivation.This paper presents the use of interactive video to improve students' motivation in learning English. The writers find some studies which generate that interactive videos plays important roles to increase students motivations. It's not just the teacher play such kind of video then let students watch it, but there are such kind of video which can gain students interaction and some steps to implement it. The result is using interactive video can improve students' motivation in learning English, but this method needs some equipment which doesn't have in all school.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn dengan menggunakan model Numbered Head Together pada peserta didik kelas II SD Negeri 4 Randuagung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan dengan adanya kerja sama antara peneliti dan guru kelas. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan model Arikunto yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian terdapat sebanyak 44 peserta didik. teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, dokumentasi dan tes hasil belajar dengan menggunakan instrument penelitian berupa lembar pretest, lembar observasi peserta didik dan lembar tes hasil belajar.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Numbered Head Together untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn. Hasil belajar peserta didik mengalami peningkatan. Hasil belajar peserta didik diukur dengan tes tulis yang diberikan pada akhir siklus. Aktivitas peserta didik selama kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model Numbered Head Together sudah mencapai keberhasilan dengan criteria baik. Hasil belajar peserta didik secara klasikal sudah mencapai ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 83,72%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka disarankan bagi guru SD untuk menerapkan model Numbered Head Together untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn.
