Abstract

Bullying is an aggressive behavior repeatedly carried out by individuals or groups in physical, verbal, social, or psychological forms. This phenomenon has become a serious concern due to its negative impact on the mental and physical health of victims, particularly within the school environment, which is supposed to be a safe space. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling services using the Aggression Control Methods technique in reducing students' tendency toward bullying behavior. The research was conducted on 11th-grade students of SMP Swasta Syuhada Sukaraja in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study employed a pre-experimental research method with a one-group pretest-posttest design and a quantitative approach. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected through a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using non- parametric statistical techniques, specifically the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The test result showed a significance value of 0.012. Since the Asymp. Sig value of 0.012 < 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates a significant difference in students’ bullying behavior between the pretest (before the intervention) and the posttest (after the intervention). Therefore, it can be concluded that group counseling using Aggression Control Methods is effective in reducing the tendency of bullying behavior among 11th-grade students at SMP Swasta Syuhada Sukaraja.

Abstract

Prosocial behavior refers to voluntary actions intended to help others without expecting rewards, and it is considered an essential component in the development of adolescents' social character. This study aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on prosocial behavior among senior high school students in Semarang City, while also analyzing the moderating role of gender in this relationship. Employing a quantitative approach, this research involved 200 students selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were an emotional intelligence scale (? = 0.875) and a prosocial behavior scale (? = 0.861), developed based on Goleman’s and Mussen’s theoretical frameworks. Data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that emotional intelligence had a positive and significant influence on students’ prosocial behavior (? = 0.624, p < 0.001). Furthermore, gender was found to moderate the relationship (R² change = 0.043, p < 0.05), indicating that the influence of emotional intelligence on prosocial behavior was stronger among female students compared to their male counterparts. These findings offer important implications for the development of character education and school counseling programs, particularly those based on emotional intelligence and gender-responsive approaches.

Abstract

The search for meaning in life among late adolescents is a crucial factor in their identity development, especially in the midst of social and emotional challenges. Although many studies have been conducted on the meaning of life, the limitations of existing instruments are unable to reflect the complexity of the meaning of life experience in late adolescents, so modifications are needed to address this need. This study aims to modify the meaning of life scale to better fit the context and experiences of adolescents. Using a quantitative approach, 116 active students aged 18-21 years from various universities in three provinces participated in this study. The instrument used was a modified meaning of life scale based on Michael F. Steger's theory, including two dimensions, namely the existence of meaning and the search for meaning. The results of the analysis showed that the modified scale not only had high validity and reliability, but also effectively captured the complexity of adolescents' life experiences. The findings provide important insights in understanding the dynamics of adolescents' meaning in life and open up opportunities for the development of intervention programs that are more relevant and based on their needs.

Abstract

Old age is a time when the elderly experience aging with new social roles. As they age, the elderly tend to be more susceptible to various psychological problems and health disorders. Psychological disorders that are often experienced by the elderly are anxiety. Anxiety is an emotional state characterized by feelings of tension, worry, and physical symptoms such as increased heart rate and shortness of breath. One technique used to help overcome anxiety in the elderly is deep breathing relaxation. The deep breathing relaxation technique is a fairly practical and easy way for the elderly to do. The purpose of this study was to test the extent to which relaxation techniques with breathing are effective in reducing anxiety in elderly individuals. The method used in this study was a one group pretest - posttest design experiment. Participants in this study were five elderly people at the Werdha Home. Data collection for the study used the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS). The data analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed rank test between the pre-test and post-test showed a significant decrease in anxiety (0.038 <0.05). The elderly experienced a decrease in anxiety from the moderate to mild category. The recommendation given to the elderly is to do deep breathing relaxation independently to help overcome anxiety.

Abstract

Adolescents have a higher risk of experiencing depressive disorders due to fluctuating emotional changes in adolescence. Therefore, further studies exploring predictors that can help reduce symptoms of depressive disorders in adolescents are essential. This study examines the relationship between forgiveness and depression through the mediating role of adaptive emotion regulation strategies (mindfulness, reappraisal, and problem solving). This study used a correlational design involving 358 Senior High School adolescents from Boyolali Regency. Multiple mediation analysis was conducted using a bias-corrected (N=5000) bootstrapping technique [CI 95%] using PROCESS model 4 syntax to explain the role of adaptive emotion regulation strategies as mediators. Based on the results of the analysis, a significant negative relationship was found between forgiveness and depression, as well as between the three adaptive emotion regulation strategies and depression. However, forgiveness was positively correlated with all three adaptive emotion regulation strategies. The mediation analysis showed that the three adaptive emotion regulation strategies negatively affected the relationship between forgiveness and depression (? =-0.68, p<0.01). The results of this study confirmed the mediating role of adaptive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between forgiveness and depression. Thus, to help adolescents reduce depression levels, counselors are recommended to strengthen adaptive emotion regulation strategies as a complement to forgiveness skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of information services using audio-visual media techniques in improving student resilience . This study uses a Quasi-Experimental approach, involving two groups (experimental group and control group), without randomization. The second group was given a Pre-Test and Post-Test to determine the effect of treatment oThis study aims to examine the effectiveness of information services using audio-visual media techniques in enhancing students' resilience at SMA Negeri 1 Palika. A quasi-experimental approach was employed, involving two groups (experimental and control) without randomization. Both groups were administered a pre-test and post-test to assess the impact of the treatment on the variables studied. The study population consisted of 48 eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Palika, divided equally into a control group (n = 24) and an experimental group (n = 24), selected through purposive sampling. A resilience instrument adapted from Daulay (2024) was used to measure student resilience. Audio-visual media served as an engaging and interactive tool for delivering information. The results of the Independent Samples T-Test revealed that the post-test mean score of the control group was 86.67, while the experimental group achieved a higher post-test mean score of 96.88. A significant difference was found between the two groups (p-value = 0.001 < 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media in information services is effective in improving students' resilience.n the variables studied. The study population was 48 students of class XI SMA N I Palika divided into two groups, namely a control group of 24 people and an experimental group of 24 people, selected using the Purposive Sampling method. To measure resilience, a resilience instrument adapted by Daulay (2024) was used. Audio-visual media is used as a means of delivering interesting and interactive information. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test Post-Test for the Control Group (mean 86.67) while the results of the Post-Test for the Experimental Group (mean 96.88). This means that students who were treated with audio-visual media techniques were higher than the group that did not use audio-visual media techniques. And there is a significant difference between the control group and the experimental group (t = (P-Value) 0.001 < 0.05) then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media in information services is effective in increasing student resilience.
