Abstract

Interpretation in communication plays an important role in understanding the message conveyed in every utterance. However, disagreements sometimes arise because the receiver of the message interprets the utterance differently. This study aims to delve deeper into the interpretation of speech acts in the use of language varieties, particularly the use of frozen language variety in online media reporting. A qualitative descriptive method is used in this research to discuss the interpretation of the use of frozen language variety. The results of this study indicate that the use of frozen language varieties such as the words "sultan," "baginda," and "paduka" can be interpreted not only to indicate a degree of honor but also as satire to mock someone. One piece of evidence is when a governor was addressed as "baginda," and he responded to the greeting with displeasure. Another example is when a ministry was dubbed the "sultan ministry," which indicates a satire or criticism of the institution. This shows that language varieties, especially frozen language, can have different interpretations depending on the social, cultural, and value context in society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the narrative coherence between the soundtrack and the film series of Layangan Putus, Queen of Tears, and Doctor Foster. Using the theory of narrative coherence proposed by West and Turner (2010), this research explores three main elements: structural, material, and characterological coherence. The soundtracks in all three series play an important role in reinforcing emotional and narrative themes. Structural coherence is seen in how the soundtrack marks emotional transitions and plot developments, such as the change from quiet moments to conflict and climax. Material coherence is reflected in the harmony between the main themes of the story and the emotional atmosphere established by the soundtrack. Characterological coherence is seen from the consistency in the soundtrack that reflects the emotional portrayal of the main character. The soundtrack in the film not only supports the storyline, but also reinforces the character development and emotional atmosphere in the story, making it an essential element in building a deep narrative.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively explore the teachings of Astra Brata and analyze the relevance of its values as a leadership model within the context of Indonesia's leadership crisis. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, this study examines classical texts such as Serat Rama, Serat Nitisruti, and Serat Sruti Jarwa, alongside modern interpretations of ethics and leadership. This approach enables the identification of the core principles of Astra Brata, including justice, wisdom, integrity, and simplicity, which are deemed relevant in addressing contemporary challenges such as low public trust, corruption, and weak accountability. The findings reveal that the teachings of Astra Brata emphasize not only the physical aspects of leadership but also values such as justice, wisdom, integrity, and simplicity. For instance, Surya Brata underscores the importance of deliberation and justice in resolving social conflicts, while Bayu Brata highlights the need for vigilance and wisdom in understanding public aspirations. Meanwhile, Kuwera Brata emphasizes integrity and simplicity in addressing the growing social disparities in Indonesia. This study concludes that the teachings of Astra Brata offer a relevant and flexible normative framework for addressing Indonesia's leadership crisis, particularly within the complex social, political, and economic challenges of the modern era. By emphasizing ethical and moral aspects, these teachings provide sustainable solutions for creating leadership that is more inclusive, just, and oriented toward collective welfare.
