Abstract

Herbal tea bags have become a major trend in the functional food industry, with increasing domestic demand. CV Dewi Makmur, a producer of herbal tea bags established in 2008 that produces more than 4,000 units per month, faces challenges due to fluctuations in raw material prices caused by seasonal and weather changes. These fluctuations have the potential to affect the company's profitability and long-term sustainability. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of changes in raw material prices on the feasibility of the herbal tea bag agroindustry at CV Dewi Makmur through sensitivity analysis. This research employs a descriptive method with a quantitative approach and a case study design. The respondent selection was conducted using purposive sampling, utilizing both primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques included Focus Group Discussions (FGD), observations, and documentation. The data analysis involved calculating the Sensitivity Payback Period (PP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI). The results indicate that the herbal tea bag agroindustry at CV Dewi Makmur remains financially feasible and is not sensitive to an 8% increase in raw material prices. This is supported by a Payback Period of 2 years, 3 months, and 3 days; a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 172,860,981; an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 58.47%; and a Profitability Index (PI) of 1.20. The study concludes that despite the rise in raw material prices, the business remains profitable and resilient.

Abstract

Rural area development is an integrative development among villages in an effort to accelerate and improve the quality of services, development, and community empowerment using a participatory development approach. The governance of Rural Area Development still pays insufficient attention to local wisdom in sustainable development. This research aims to identify a local wisdom-based rural area development strategy in supporting ecological resilience. The research focuses on the Environmental Dimension in the Rural Area Development Index (IPKP) as an indicator of Ecological Resilience, and the Environmental Resilience Aspect in the Developing Village Index (IDM) as a framework for Ecological Citizenship. The research location is the Selingkar Ijen Agropolitan Area, Banyuwangi, covering 7 out of 14 villages. This research is a descriptive qualitative study using the Soft System Methodology (SSM). Data collection was carried out through observation, focused group discussions, and in-depth interviews using Planning Charrette analysis. The results indicate that the development of the Selingkar Ijen Agropolitan Area has already incorporated local wisdom in the management and utilization of the environment and natural resources. The Osing cultural local wisdom contributes to Ecological Resilience and the strengthening of Ecological Citizenship for sustainable rural area development.

Abstract

Bumi Dipasena in Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province, was once the largest shrimp farming area in Southeast Asia and played a major role in Indonesia’s shrimp exports. Since the early 2000s, shrimp pond productivity has declined due to institutional conflicts, infrastructure degradation, limited access to capital, and unstable production systems, resulting in reduced household income and economic pressure on local communities. This study aims to identify and analyze household livelihood strategies following the decline of shrimp pond productivity in Bumi Dipasena. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach based on secondary data, utilizing official statistics, government reports, scientific publications, and credible media sources. Data were analyzed through descriptive qualitative analysis, including data reduction, thematic categorization, and identification of livelihood strategy patterns. The findings show that households respond to the decline by diversifying income into informal sectors, small-scale trade, labor migration, and increased reliance on social networks. These livelihood strategies reflect household-level economic responses to prolonged structural changes after the collapse of shrimp farming as the primary livelihood source. This study contributes to socio-economic and development studies by providing empirical insights into household livelihood reorganization in post-aquaculture decline contexts and offers policy-relevant input for sustainable livelihood support in coastal areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of BARETA Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in the economic empowerment of the community of Tanggulangin Village, Pasuruan Regency, with a focus on the influence of management assistance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support, and the use of grant funds in strengthening the local economy. The method used is a qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation of BUMDes administrators, village officials, and the community. The results of the study show that BUMDes BARETA plays an important role in increasing community income, creating new jobs, and encouraging the strengthening of entrepreneurship based on local potential. Synergy between BUMDes, village governments, and the private sector through Nestlé's CSR program also strengthens managerial capacity and access to capital. However, the challenges faced include limited human resources, business innovation, and financial independence. Professional and participatory management of BUMDes is the key to the sustainability of the village economy. Therefore, it is necessary to increase financial literacy, business management training, and strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration to accelerate the sustainable economic transformation of the community at the village level.

Abstract

This study examines the structure and dynamics of the regional economy of West Papua Province by identifying base and non-base sectors using the Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share approaches. The analysis is based on district- and city-level Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data at constant prices for the period 2012–2022. The LQ estimates indicate that the agricultural sector particularly the plantation subsector exhibits a strong comparative advantage, with 10 out of 13 administrative regions recording LQ values greater than one. The Shift Share analysis reveals substantial heterogeneity in regional competitiveness. Fak-Fak, Kaimana, Manokwari, and Teluk Wondama are classified in Quadrant I, indicating that the plantation subsector in these regions functions not only as a base sector but also demonstrates relatively faster growth compared to the provincial average. In contrast, South Manokwari, Maybrat, Raja Ampat, South Sorong, Tambrauw, and Pegunungan Arfak fall into Quadrant IV, suggesting base sectors with relatively lagging growth performance. Based on these findings, this study emphasizes the development of the coconut industry as a strategic driver of a renewable natural resource–based economy. Nevertheless, the sector continues to face major constraints, including low productivity, high post-harvest losses, and limited market access. Therefore, policies aimed at strengthening value chains, adopting green technologies, and advancing digital governance are essential prerequisites for enhancing regional competitiveness and ensuring the long-term economic sustainability of West Papua.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the assessments, considerations, and adoption patterns of paddle wheel technology by the Mina Taruna Fish Farmers Group. The approach used is qualitative with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that members' assessments of paddle wheel technology covers aspects of relative advantage, suitability, complexity, ease of testing, and visibility of results. Members considered paddle wheel technology to be beneficial because it could increase stocking density, production yield, fish quality, and harvesting time efficiency, despite increased operational costs. Considerations for adoption were divided into four categories: accept permanently, accept temporarily, reject temporarily, and reject permanently. The decision to adopt is influenced by production benefits, market conditions, technical capabilities, and capital availability. Meanwhile, rejection is generally caused by limited facilities, pond conditions, and low business motivation. Overall, the results of the study show that the adoption of paddle wheel technology is determined by the interaction between perceived benefits, resource capabilities, and the socio-economic context of group members. These findings confirm that the successful implementation of technological innovations in fish farming is highly dependent on the compatibility between technical and social factors at the farmer level.

Abstract

As urban lifestyles in Yogyakarta City become increasingly fast-paced, consumer preference has shifted toward practical, "ready-to-cook" solutions. This study analyzes the factors influencing the purchasing decisions of ready-to-cook vegetable packages, a market segment rapidly expanding due to high time-scarcity among city residents. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected from 38 respondents who had purchased ready-to-cook packages. Logistic regression analysis was employed to test variables including price (X1), product quality (X2), packaging (X3), practicality (X4), promotion (X5), and social recommendations (X6).The results indicate that while price, practicality, and social influence do not significantly impact purchasing decisions, packaging (X3) has a statistically significant influence. This suggests that for ready-to-cook products, packaging serves as a critical proxy for perceived freshness and hygiene, outweighing traditional drivers like price or promotion. However, the study’s small sample size (n=38) limits the generalizability of these findings, representing a preliminary insight into this niche market. This research contributes to the field by highlighting a shift in consumer behavior where "visual assurance" via packaging becomes the primary determinant in the convenience food sector, offering a new perspective for local agribusinesses compared to broader national studies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the development strategy of Hong Kong caterpillar cultivation MSMEs (Tenebrio molitor) in Suka Makmur Village, Lalat Regency. With a qualitative approach of case studies on 10 selected respondents, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed thematically. The results showed an average production of 65–75 kg per cycle with an initial capital of IDR 1,500,000. The running nucleus-plasma partnership pattern is asym-metrical, limiting market access and profit margins for farmers, although local innovations in feed and reinvestment support business sustainability. The main obstacles include limited capital, dependence on one core partner, and low digital marketing competence. On the other hand, these efforts contribute to increasing income, job creation, and converting organic waste into fertilizer. As a recommendation, the development strategy is focused on increasing human resource capacity, product diversification, digital marketing, and expanding access to financing and market networks to support the independence and competitiveness of MSMEs.
