Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to (1) empower the community in the Cita Tani Mandiri women's group by diversifying processed nutmeg products into nutmeg skin crackers. (2) Developing digital-based marketing for processed nutmeg products. Methodology: The implementation of community empowerment activities is carried out through two activities: training and mentoring, which is complemented by learning-by-doing techniques. Training activities were divided into (1) Survey of Partners' knowledge, (2) delivery of the theory of making crackers, and (3) demonstration and direct practice of making nutmeg leather crackers. Assistance activities include (1) assistance in making logos, brands, and product packaging; (2) assistance in marketing products using marketplaces; and (3) Monitoring and Evaluation. Results: The results obtained from this activity are: (1) increasing the skills of the members of the Cita Mandiri Farmers Group regarding the diversification of processed nutmeg products into nutmeg crackers; and (2) increasing the knowledge of the members of the Cita Mandiri Farmers Group regarding digital marketing strategies. Limitations: This activity was limited to processing and marketing nutmeg crackers. Contribution: This activity contributes to marketing management of processed nutmeg products.

Abstract

Purpose: Implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia in 2020 has not been effective or optimal. Most teachers are still trying to adapt, and some still have difficulty implementing learning with the Merdeka Curriculum and differentiated learning. The purpose of this service activity was to improve teachers' understanding and skills in implementing differentiated learning. Methodology: This community activity program was conducted through assistance consisting of lectures, discussions, and workshops. The success of the activity can be seen in the assessment of learning tools and the filling out of questionnaires. Results: Based on the results of problem identification, this service activity aims to improve the ability of differentiated learning design and the availability of various sample devices for different chemical materials. The activities included: (1) deepening of chemical literature through lectures and discussions, (2) seminars on analyzing CP, TP, and ATP, (3) seminars on preparing different learning needs, and (4) workshops on preparing learning modules. Limitations: The number of participants in the service program was limited. The participants came from MGMP Kimia Semarang for approximately 30 people. The results may be different for other participants. Contribution: Improving the knowledge and skills of chemistry teachers in Semarang City to design differentiated learning for the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Purpose: The utilization of cow feces as an alternative energy source, namely biogas, is a substitute for fossil fuels for humans for environmental sustainability. The purpose of this service activity is to form an asset-based community that is driven by community or society. Methodology/approach: The service is located in Makmur Sejahtera Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency. The cattle breeder community in this village consisted of 31 heads of families with more than 150 cattle. The method chosen for this service activity was the ABCD method. Results/findings: The results of this community service show community awareness of the use of cow dung in biogas. The main aim is to improve the community's economy in addition to making an effort to save the environment sustainably. BUMDes Sejahtera Bersama, owned by Makmur Sejahtera, has not been able to manage biogas or become a container because it is feared that it will not be managed well, and that access is far from reactors that are already in production. Conclusion: Failures in reactors are discussed to find practical solutions that can be implemented immediately, namely, by looking for reactor leaks and waiting longer for biogas production. Limitation: This service only involves smaller community groups, and the amount of cow feces is reduced owing to the increasing demand for beef. Contribution: This community service is able to increase public awareness of the use of cow dung in biogas, and in the future, the village government is committed to developing the community to improve the community's economy.

Abstract

Purpose: Carry out training to improve the ability of science teachers to design teaching materials based on local wisdom and local potential. Methodology/approach: Community Service activities are carried out 3 times (2 online meetings and 1 offline meeting) with a lesson study pattern (planning, doing, seeing). There are around 50 science teachers in online activities from all over Indonesia, while offline activities are carried out for science teachers in Cirebon and surrounding areas. Result: The results of community service activities are 1). Produced several teaching materials based on local wisdom and local potential from various regions where participants come from, 2). Positive responses from science teachers about learning based on local wisdom and local potential, 3). From the open lesson activity, the Observer teacher stated that the learning was carried out very well (100%). 4). From reflection activities, teachers see that students learn enthusiastically and teachers learn about making and implementing learning based on local wisdom and potential. Limitation: The local potential-based learning chosen by the teacher is the biotechnology concept of Cirebon Bakung tape and Kuningan tape. The instruments used are teacher questionnaires and observation sheets. Contribution: Community service activities can provide insight for teachers to create and implement learning based on local wisdom and local potential

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this community service is to prevent the occurrence and increase of stunting through assistance with specific nutritional interventions in Mekar Sari Village, Tatah Makmur District, Banjar Regency. Methodology: Prevention assistance was carried out through counseling and providing education and information to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and mothers with toddlers. The implementation of activities was also carried out in stages, including on September 22, 2023, counseling was given and provision of nutritious food and vegetables, continuously on October 4, 2023, was carried out at the same time as Posyandu activities by providing counseling and intake of vitamins and protein (milk and eggs). Results: The results of community service showed that participants knew and understood stunting and the factors that caused it; however, prevention methods that were not implemented led to an increase in the stunting rate in Mekar Sari Village, reaching 11 children from examination data until October 2023. The results of this activity also showed an increase in participants’ understanding. Protein and vitamin intake is one way to prevent stunting. Limitations: This activity was carried out on only 32 target people, including pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and mothers with toddlers. Contribution: The counseling and assistance activities for the Mekar Sari Village community need to be carried out consistently because they contribute to increased awareness of health problems, especially stunting prevention, in order to reduce the stunting rate.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of establishing BUMDesa is regulated in the Village Head Regulation, Regulation of the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2015 concerning the Establishment, Management, and Dissolution of BUMDes. Village-owned enterprises were established with the aim of accommodating all economic activities, public services handled by the village, and/or collaboration between villages. The aim of BUMDes is to enable long-term economic improvement in rural areas. Methodology/approach: The stages of community service activities begin with outreach to the target community in Lauwon village, East Luwuk District. The method of implementing the activity is the socialization of BUMDes organizational management and BUMDes management training. Results/findings: As managers and members of BUMDes in villages, the community has an important role in the growth and progress of its economy through BUMDes. The problem that occurs is that the BUMDes established in Lauwon Village are not developing well. There are many factors that cause this, including irregular management of the BUMDes organization and inconsistent management and administration, as well as a lack of understanding of the BUMDes management itself, so that the village's potential is difficult to implement. Lauwon Village is one of the villages in the East Luwuk District, Banggai Regency, which has a BUMDes, but the management is not in accordance with the expectations of the village government and the community. This is due to the integrity of institutional management, as well as the absence of Articles of Association (AD) and Bylaws (ART), infrastructure, and no mapping of village potential. Contribution: This service is expected to improve the ability of village officials to manage business entities owned by the village. Limitation: Focuses on maximizing financial profits and improving the welfare of village communities

Abstract

Purpose: Stunting is a condition in which a child's physical growth and development are hampered due to malnutrition during the growth period. This condition occurs in children under 5 years of age. This age period is critical for the formation and development of body organs in children. Therefore, an innovative and holistic approach is needed to prevent stunting. One potential that can be exploited is the fruit of the karamunting plant (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), which has traditionally been used as an herbal medicine. Candy containing healthy and delicious caramunting fruits can be an interesting way to increase nutritional intake, especially for children who have barriers to consuming nutritious food. Methodology: Implementation of community service through an educational workshop on the importance of knowledge about stunting prevention in children through local food innovation with Karamunting fruit candy (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa) was carried out on Saturday, October 7, 2023, between: 08.00-11.00 WIB, with the activity location at Habaring Hurung Village Hall. The partners for this community service activity are the heads and staff of Habaring Hurung Village, Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, and Central Kalimantan. The targets of this service activity are mothers and children in Posyandu. Service procedures are the coordination, observation, activity implementation, and evaluation stages. Results: The participants understood the dangers and prevention of stunting in their children. The participants understood how to make karamunting fruit candy a local food that can be used and developed. Limitations: Karamunting fruit candy as a food innovation to prevent stunting produced by this community service program has no known expiration date or shelf life and there is no standard composition or dosage for candy to prevent stunting. Contribution: This community service activity can have a positive impact on the people of Hurung Village. This activity is able to increase insight and the ability to prevent the spread of stunting through innovation in making candy from karamunting fruit, even if residents can implement it independently.

Abstract

Purpose: Buluh Cina Village is a tourist village located on the banks of the Siak River. The problem of waste among residents living on the banks of the river is throwing garbage directly into the river, causing water pollution. The purpose of this community service is to provide information on how housewives can manage household waste into liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and compost in a simple manner. Methodology: The method used was focus group discussion (FGD) on the theory of good waste management and a workshop demonstration of the practice of making POC and compost directly. This event was in collaboration with the health cadre partners of Puskesmas Pangkalan Baru and Buluh Cina village officials. Results: The results of this community service were attended by 31 cadres, who understood that the behavior of littering into the river must be stopped by utilizing waste from the household scale. POC and compost training, so it is hoped that cadres will apply to themselves and teach their members. Limitations: Owing to the limited time, funds, and members involved in this research, the training was only conducted for one day, but it is hoped that it will be sustainable. Contribution: This activity is useful to increase community awareness about managing household waste to make it more useful for fertilizing plants around the house and also have economic value if sold

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this program is to increase the knowledge and empowerment of the Cimande Village community and also the Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS) by utilizing their residences in the Jawara homestay business so that it can provide additional income and improve welfare. Methodology: This program was carried out in three stages, namely the preparation stage which is carried out through observation, FGD and internal discussions; the second stage is implementation with coaching and workshops; and the third stage is evaluation through tests, monitoring and evaluation. Result: The results of the pre-test and post-test evaluation showed that the level of knowledge and understanding of the participants increased from initially not understanding to understanding. The participant's skill level increased in making the bed and cleaning the bathroom, and the participants were able to create social media accounts and content about the homestay. Conclusion: The community empowerment program through the homestay business will run optimally if it is well prepared based on the needs, commitment, and participation of the village community, and implemented by providing knowledge, skills, and equipment assistance according to standards, as well as providing assistance so that the community can become independent. Limitation: This article has limitations in terms of the number of community participants who are interested in homestay business. Contribution: This program contributes as a reference for other scholars in efforts to develop homestays in tourist villages. This program also contributes to the Cimande Village Community in managing, developing homestays according to standards, and marketing them.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to discuss strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Women Farmer Groups in Sumberjo Village through various programs, namely: Brand Creation, NIB Registration (Business Identification Number), and Halal Certification registration. Methodology/approach: This activity was conducted in Sumberjo village, Polewali Mandar district, focusing on the Women's Farmer Group. The form of implementing activities is carried out by carrying out various steps, namely socialization and direct assistance to the community. Results/findings: The results of the activity are solving partner problems by transferring science and technology in the form of socialization, workshops, and assistance in the form of 3P such as Brand Creation, Business Identification Number Registration, Assistance with halal product certification, Product Innovation Development, and, Digitalization training for managing MSME websites, financial report bookkeeping applications and market place and delivery of production equipment assistance to partners. Limitation: referring to UP2KKK's needs, service activities are limited and focus on branding issues, business registration numbers, and halal certification. Contributions: This activity has an impact on KWT Gemah Ripah related to the development of products of higher quality and in terms of product quantity.
