Abstract

This study analyzes the product development strategies of MSMEs in Batu Bara Regency through the improvement of halal certification status. MSMEs are a key component of the country's economic growth, especially in terms of increasing the competitiveness of local products and community welfare. Trust in MSME products tends to decline due to unguaranteed processes and quality. Emphasizing the importance of product legality and the application of sharia values in business activities, this study aims to examine the development strategies of MSMEs in Batu Bara Regency that have obtained halal certification. A descriptive qualitative methodology was used to obtain objective interview results. Interviews were conducted with MSME actors and authorities. The research findings show that the sustainability of halal MSMEs is influenced by external elements (opportunities and threats) and internal elements (strengths and weaknesses), which were identified through SWOT analysis. Based on the calculation findings, MSMEs are in quadrant II (Strengths–Threats) of the Cartesian SWOT diagram with an IFAS score of 3.11075 and an EFAS score of 3.31712. The ST strategy, which maximizes internal strengths to overcome various external challenges, including company competition and certification process barriers, is the best step in this case. Halal certification has been proven to strengthen the ability to build consumer trust, improve product quality, and open new markets, which helps MSMEs become more sustainable and competitive.

Abstract

The rise of imported food products in Indonesia has influenced consumer interest, even though many of them do not yet have a halal label. This study aims to determine how halal literacy, halal labels, product quality, and consumer trust influence purchasing decisions for imported products. The sampling method used was non-probability sampling through the distribution of questionnaires to 90 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using a moderated regression method with the help of SPSS 22. The results showed that the halal literacy variable did not have a significant effect on purchasing decisions with a significance value of 0.087 > 0.05. Meanwhile, halal labels, product quality, and consumer trust each have a significant effect on purchasing decisions with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Religiosity was only able to moderate the influence of consumer trust on purchasing decisions with a significance value of 0.038 < 0.05, while no moderating effect was found for the variables halal literacy, halal labels, and product quality

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity, education level, and income on the intention to donate waqf through Cash Waqf Linked Deposit (CWLD). CWLD is an Islamic waqf innovation that places waqf funds in Islamic bank deposits, where the returns are utilized for social activities such as public facilities development, education, and healthcare. This research employs a quantitative method with purposive sampling, involving 80 respondents from Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) who have participated in CWLD. Data was collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that religiosity does not significantly affect the intention to donate waqf (p = 0.726), while education level (p = 0.000) and income (p = 0.018) have significant influences. This suggests that individuals with higher education and income levels are more likely to participate in CWLD. In conclusion, increasing waqf literacy, expanding socialization, and implementing inclusive policies are necessary to enhance CWLD accessibility, allowing it to contribute more effectively to Indonesia's social and economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how zakat, infaq, and shadaqah (ZIS), economic growth, and population affect the Human Development Index (HDI) in North Sumatra Province. The background of this research lies in the persistent disparity of human development across regions and the lack of empirical studies that integrate Islamic social finance variables, such as ZIS, into human development analysis. The study employs a quantitative research design with a panel data regression method using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The sample consists of eight cities in North Sumatra (Medan, Binjai, Pematang Siantar, Tebing Tinggi, Tanjung Balai, Sibolga, Padangsidimpuan, and Gunung Sitoli) covering the 2018–2021 period. Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). The findings show that ZIS has a positive but insignificant effect on the HDI, suggesting that the distribution of ZIS funds has not yet optimized its impact on human development. Economic growth has a significant negative effect on HDI, indicating that growth in North Sumatra remains non-inclusive and unevenly distributed. Meanwhile, the population variable has a negative but insignificant influence, implying that population growth has not been matched by improvements in quality. Simultaneously, the three variables explain 93.13% of the variation in HDI. Based on these results, the study recommends that policymakers and Islamic financial institutions enhance ZIS management by prioritizing empowerment-based programs rather than consumptive aid. Regional governments should also focus on inclusive economic growth, human resource quality improvement, and equitable access to education and healthcare as part of integrated human development strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of sharia stock investment and public consumption levels on per capita income in Indonesia during the 2021–2024 period. The analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression methods using secondary time series data sourced from BPS, OJK, and ISSI. The results of the analysis indicate that sharia stock investment has a positive and significant effect on per capita income with a coefficient of 3.391448 (p<0.05). Conversely, the level of public consumption has a negative and significant effect on per capita income with a coefficient of –9.381819 (p<0.05). Simultaneously, both independent variables were shown to have a significant effect on per capita income (F test, p<0.05). However, the coefficient of determination (R²) was only 12.88%, indicating that most of the variation in per capita income is influenced by factors other than the model. These findings emphasize the importance of optimizing productive investments and improving the quality of consumption patterns in efforts to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. The population in this study consists of all economic data series related to sharia stock investment, public consumption, and per capita income in Indonesia from 2021 to 2024, with a total of 48 data observations. The sample used in this study was 48 observations selected based on completeness and consistency during the research period.

Abstract

Waqf is a unique Islamic economic instrument based on its function on the elements of virtue (birr), goodness (i'hsan) and brotherhood (u'khuwah). The distinguishing characteristic of waqf is that when the waqf is fulfilled, there is a shift in private ownership towards the ownership of Allah SWT which is expected to be eternal, providing sustainable benefits. Through waqf, it is hoped that there will be a process of distributing benefits for the wider community, from private benefits to social benefits. This study uses library research with descriptive qualitative methods, namely, first by recording all findings regarding the concept of global supply and demand in each research discussion obtained in the literature and sources, and or the latest findings regarding productive waqf. and investment. The conclusion of this study is that the real strategy in developing productive waqf lands is as follows, that Nazhir must establish business partnerships with other parties who have capital and business interests in accordance with the existing strategic land position with high commercial value. This collaboration is in order to mobilize all the economic potential of the waqf lands. Once again, it must be emphasized that the system of cooperation with third parties must still follow the Sharia system, both by way of musharaka and mudharabah as previously mentioned.

Abstract

Amil zakat fundraising institutions have a challenge because the law in Indonesia adheres to a voluntary system that cannot force prospective muzakki to pay zakat. On the other hand, society continues to question the high gap between the potential of zakat and the realization of its collection. It means zakat amil has to be more creative in developing marketing strategies. As an institution that operates both b-to-b and retail at once, amil zakat institutions should be able to take advantage of advertisements in online media such as Facebook. Funneling is very effective in conventional business. Unfortunately, it has not been used in many amil zakat institutions promptly. Based on data obtained, boosted posts with sponsored ads are hard selling or education about ziswaf services without collecting a database of prospective muzakki. This study is a qualitative study aimed at describing how the funneling strategy is applied to the products and services of the amil zakat. Although the ad sample was taken from Facebook, the ad flow design offered applied to other advertising media. The advertising flow was not trial as in the RND research. This design was used to strengthen the explanation regarding the application of funneling in zakat institutions. The results showed that the zakat amil must prepare a lead magnet to attract the attention of prospective muzakki to join the database management available. After prospective muzakki are in the database, zakat amil can follow up with them with various offers and education about zakat products and services and other ziswaf products.

Abstract

During the economic crisis both in 1998 and the current COVID-19 crisis, Indonesia experienced various economic and social problems as indicated by negative changes in economic growth and an increase in the number of poverty. In addition, zakat plays a very important role in assisting in the process of economic and social recovery after the crisis in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the effect of simultaneously and partially macroeconomic variables, namely inflation, exchange rates, gold prices, and the money supply on the amount of revenue and zakat in Indonesia. This research has used secondary data from 2016 – 2021 sourced from reports from Baznas, Bank Indonesia, BPS, and Precious Metals. Based on the results of data analysis using multiple linear regression, the results showed that the effect of the variable inflation rate, exchange rate, gold price, and the money supply simultaneously had a significant effect on the amount of zakat receipts. Partially, almost all variables have an effect except the price of gold, because the increase in the price of gold is inversely proportional to the increase in the amount of zakat funds received. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the government or policy makers in formulating policy materials in achieving the goals of the economic and social recovery process after the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

Abstract

The downstreaming of zakat in the agricultural sector (agricultural zakat) is one of the strategic efforts to increase people's income, especially farmers, while encouraging sharia-based economic independence. Agricultural zakat has great potential in supporting the optimal management of agricultural products through the appropriate distribution of zakat, but its implementation still faces various challenges such as low understanding of farmers, ineffective distribution, and lack of innovation in the management of zakat results. This study aims to analyse the downstream potential of agricultural zakat as a basis for increasing community income, especially among small and medium farmers. This study also evaluates the effectiveness of agricultural zakat management in encouraging farmers' productivity and welfare. Data was collected through mixed-method which includes in-depth interviews, field observations, and secondary data analysis from reports of zakat institutions and related institutions. The results show that the downstreaming of agricultural zakat can increase community income through various empowerment programmes, such as the provision of farming capital, training on modern cultivation techniques, and opening market access for agricultural products. In addition, the synergy between zakat institutions, government, and local communities is a key factor in the success of this programme. In conclusion, the downstreaming of agricultural zakat has great potential to support sharia-based community economic empowerment. However, a stronger regulatory framework and cross-sector collaboration are needed for optimal and sustainable implementation.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the implementation of digital-based cash waqf management in six waqf institutions in Indonesia, and explore the impact of digitalization on transparency, accountability, and public participation while addressing the challenges and strategies related to regulations, infrastructure, and digital literacy. A qualitative research approach was employed, with case studies in six waqf institutions implementing digital systems. Data were gathered through relevant documentation and academic publications. This study employs a comparative methode to analyze digital-based cash waqf management across six waqf institutions in Indonesia. The comparison involves identifying similarities, differences, and successes, presented in tabular form to facilitate the analysis of management practices. The findings reveal that while digitalization enhances transparency, accountability, and public participation, significant challenges persist. Key challenges include non-adaptive regulations, uneven technological infrastructure, and low public digital literacy. Strategies to address these obstacles include capacity-building, supportive regulatory development, and increased public education on digital cash waqf.
