Abstract

this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of zakat funds in improving human development through the Future of Jakarta Scholarship (FJS) programme, which addresses important issues such as the sub-optimal allocation of zakat in education, high dropout rate, and inadequate level of human development. Using descriptive qualitative research method, this study collected primary data through interviews. Interview subjects include zakat recipients, programme administrators, education experts and community leaders, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of the programme. The FJS theoretical framework combines zakat and Islamic finance theories, highlighting the role of zakat in socio-economic development and poverty alleviation, alongside human development theory to assess its impact on life expectancy, years of schooling, and purchasing power. The findings show that the FJS programme effectively meets criteria such as accuracy, awareness, purpose, and monitoring in distributing zakat funds. This positive impact is seen from the increase in life expectancy, increase in years of schooling, and increase in purchasing power among the beneficiaries.

Abstract

this research aims to develop sociopreneurship-based zakat funds in rural poor communities through mentoring to achieve welfare. So far, many allocations of zakat funds have not developed and have no change for the poor. The research method used is qualitative with the Asset Basic Community Development (ABCD) approach. The mentoring method is carried out with a transformative and participatory approach. The mentoring team is only a facilitator to accelerate the community towards a more prosperous economic condition. The results found that the practice of zakat-based sociopreneurship was implemented with two schemes, namely: First, microfinance programme in the form of providing business capital for mustahik micro business actors. Second, business facilities assistance programme in the form of production facilities such as machinery or livestock needed by mustahik. Assistance in building the sustainability of the sociopreneurship programme is carried out through five steps: (1). Focus group discussion (FGD), (2) Stakeholder involvement (3). Training. (4). Measurement of the effectiveness of sociopreneurship.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the mechanism and impact of utilizing cash waqf through multipurpose micro financing carried out by the Mutiara Tarbiyah Waqf Institution. The method uses qualitative research. The approach taken is qualitative and descriptive. Data collection through observation, interviews, documentation. There are several stages in data analysis carried out by researchers, namely, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this research are a multipurpose micro financing mechanism through cash waqf carried out by the Mutiara Tarbiyah Waqf Institution through several stages and the conditions for being able to take the financing program are teachers/employees at Sahabat Alam School. The first stage, teachers/employees submit the items they want. Second, Nazir will calculate how much fees will be paid. Third, sign a murabahah agreement. Fourth, Nazir purchases goods. The five teachers/employees are waiting for the goods to arrive and finally the monthly installment payment. This financing has a positive impact in the form of strengthening teacher/employee capacity, flexible access to funds in improving teacher/employee welfare, institutional operational support, assistance for school activities. The challenge faced is how to maintain waqf financial liquidity so that it remains maintained, stable and minimizes the occurrence of non-performing loans (NPL). One approach that can be taken is to apply 5C. Even though they haven't implemented 5C, they can minimize this by providing a salary cut.

Abstract

the development of asset waqf collection methods has moved to cash waqf collection. Islamic Microfinance, such as Baitul Mal Wa Tamwil (BMT) and Micro Waqf Bank, have tried to develop financing products based on cash waqf funds. The big question is how big is the risk of losing waqf funds due to financing scheme carried out by this Islamic Microfinance. In this research we try to develop a model to form of cash waqf-based musyarakah financing by providing suggestions for improvements, based on the literature and potential losses that arise from our simulation results. We use a dynamic simulation approach to obtain overall system behavior patterns in the next 5 years. The improvements that we propose include (1) Allocation of reserve impairment of non-performing financing, (2) Assistance and supervision efforts for financing, (3) evaluation of total waqf funds allocated for musyarakah financing, and (4) evaluation of the profit-sharing rate provided on Musyarakah Financing. Our final results show that Islamic Microfinance has the potential and feasibility to create a Cash-Waqf based Musyarakah Financing model, with several conditions, such as (1) being able to increase the ability to collect waqf gradually (2) allocating costs as an efforts to mitigate the risk of losing waqf funds using reserve impairment costs and financing supervision costs (3) optimizing the distribution of funds to the productive sector and (4) determine a profit-sharing ratio that is able to minimize the risk of loss of funds.

Abstract

This study describes a new strategy for generating human development effects through the education care program of LAZ Dompet Al-Qur'an Indonesia Sidoarjo. The distribution of zakat funds for scholarship programs is only incidental, with no monitoring for human development. This study is descriptive qualitative, with the researcher acting as the key instrument. Primary data was obtained through interviews with zakat institution administrators and several beneficiaries. The results show that the Education Program has succeeded in increasing community participation in contributing to support the education of underprivileged youth in Indonesia. Institutions are advised to mobilize volunteers as mentors for scholarship recipients who need additional academic support, develop educational applications that can be accessed by parents and students to facilitate the learning process, and emphasize the importance of contributing to the success of Indonesian youth education, especially through donations to LAZ.  The recommendations from this research serve as a reference for institutions to strengthen public trust and manage prospective scholarship recipients, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Education Program

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the zakat distribution strategy implemented by BAZNAS Kota Tebing Tinggi in efforts to reduce poverty. Although the poverty rate in Tebing Tinggi has declined, the number of zakat recipients (mustahik) remains stagnant at approximately 1,000 individuals per year. This stagnation indicates that the zakat utilisation strategy requires a logical measurement ratio and recommendations for improvement. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and the SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) framework, this research explores perceptions and field data through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. The results reveal that Opportunity and Result factors scored highest in supporting the effectiveness of zakat distribution strategies. Opportunities  such  as  policy  support,  zakat  from  professionals,  and  technological advancement are identified as key drivers. Meanwhile, the expected outcomes include the economic independence of mustahik and improved transparency in zakat management. The SOAR approach proves relevant for developing zakat distribution strategies that are not only consumptive but also productive and sustainable

Abstract

Zakat strategically contributes to wealth distribution to reduce poverty and social inequality. Although the trend of zakat collection in Indonesia continues to increase, the accountability and transparency of financial reports of zakat institutions remain a challenge in building the trust of zakat payers. This study uses a quantitative approach, using BAZNAS and LAZ, licensed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, for 2021–2023 as the subjects. Secondary data in the form of financial and annual reports were analyzed using IBM SPSS. The results show that accountability, financial transparency, and program transparency have a positive effect on zakat fund receipts, while management transparency has only a positive but insignificant effect. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing PSAK 409 standards and developing a systematic and adaptive transparency strategy for the development of information technology to strengthen governance and increase zakat collection.
