Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Lower Body Strength Training (LBST) on 30-meter sprint speed in youth football players. Employing a pretest-posttest comparison group design, 30 players from R2 Solo Club (14.27±0.74 years) were divided into two groups (n = 15) through Matched Subject Ordinal Pairing. The 30-meter acceleration test instrument was used with high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.996). Data analysis included t-tests, Smallest Detectable Change (SDC), Minimal Important Difference (MID), and Cohen’s d. The results showed that both methods had a significant effect (p < 0.001). The HIIT group experienced an improvement of 0.320 seconds (6.78%), while LBST improved by 0.127 seconds (2.67%). Clinically, the improvements in both groups exceeded the SDCgroup (0.02 seconds) and MID (0.026 seconds) thresholds. However, HIIT proved to be significantly superior to LBST (p < 0.001) with an improvement margin 0.193 seconds (4.11%) greater. The effect size values for the HIIT group (d = 3.833), the LBST group (d = 3.215), and the comparison between groups (d = 2.961) were all categorized as very large. It is concluded that HIIT provides a significantly greater performance acceleration than LBST. Coaches are advised to prioritize HIIT for accelerative speed improvement while maintaining LBST as a foundation for the players’ structural stability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the self-determined motivation profile of football players at PFA Sukoharjo. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, this research involved 30 players. The subjects’ characteristics included an average age of 14±0.00 years, playing experience of 3.69±0.77 years, body weight of 50.40±10.51 kg, height of 160.51±11.10 cm, and a Body Mass Index (BMI) within the normal category (19.49±2.36). The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Sport Motivation Scale-II (SMS-II) and analyzed through descriptive statistical techniques. The results indicate that PFA Sukoharjo players dominantly possess very strong autonomous motivation. This is evidenced by high mean scores in the dimensions of intrinsic motivation (18.67), identified regulation (18.67), and integrated regulation (18.40). Conversely, controlled motivation dimensions showed significantly lower values, namely introjected regulation (11.17), external regulation (8.23), and amotivation (4.80). The low standard deviation (2.864) indicates a consistent motivation profile across the entire sample. Based on self-determination theory, the players exhibit an ideal motivational profile with a continuum pattern that declines sharply from autonomous regulation to amotivation. This pattern reflects a healthy psychological state, where football activities have become integrated into the players’ self-identity. These findings imply high mental resilience and potential for long-term involvement in football careers at PFA Sukoharjo.

Abstract

This study compares the effectiveness of Plyometric Box Jump and Depth Jump training in enhancing the leg muscle power of male volleyball athletes aged 13–16 years. Utilizing an experimental method, 30 athletes were equally divided into two groups through the ordinal pairing technique, with the Vertical Jump test serving as the primary measurement instrument. The findings indicate that both training methods yielded a significant impact (p < 0.05). However, the Depth Jump group demonstrated a higher performance increase of 2.4 (4.32%) compared to the Box Jump group at 1.9 (3.43%). Statistically, the Depth Jump proved to be superior, with a net effectiveness margin of 0.89%. In conclusion, the more intensive Stretch-Shortening Cycle (SSC) mechanism in the Depth Jump makes it a more optimal option for enhancing leg muscle power.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of varying Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) density in basketball shoe midsoles on plantar pressure distribution and subjective comfort. Using a repeated measures design with 20 basketball players, three EVA density variations were tested: low (0.15 g/cm³), medium (0.25 g/cm³), and high (0.35 g/cm³). Plantar pressure data were collected using in-shoe sensors during vertical landing, cutting, and sprinting maneuvers. The results indicated that medium-density EVA provided the most even pressure distribution (205 ±pm 10 kPa at the heel) compared to low density, which caused lateral instability, or high density, which drastically increased peak pressure (245 ±pm 15 kPa). ANOVA analysis confirmed a significant influence of density on foot kinetic variables (p < 0.001). In conclusion, an EVA density of 0.25 g/cm³ is the optimal point for balancing shock absorption and responsive stability to mitigate the risk of injuries such as plantar fasciitis.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of Small-Sided Games (SSG) training on the aerobic endurance of students at the SSB GCR Sukolilo Pati football academy and to determine whether there were differences in aerobic endurance improvement based on gender. An experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 30 students aged 13–15 years, selected using purposive sampling. Aerobic endurance was measured using the beep test (20-meter shuttle run). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Repeated Measures ANOVA. The results showed that SSG training had a significant effect on improving aerobic endurance (F(1,28) = 77.778; p < 0.001). Furthermore, while a difference in aerobic endurance existed between male and female participants, there was no difference in the improvement of aerobic endurance following SSG training (F(1,28) = 1.016; p = 0.322). Thus, SSG training is effective for improving the aerobic endurance of adolescent soccer players and yields relatively similar benefits for both males and females.

Abstract

Basic motor skill instruction at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in establishing the foundation for movement skills, body coordination, and student self-confidence. However, a lack of instructional variety and the dominance of conventional, command-based teaching methods often limit students' exposure to diverse movement activities; consequently, many students struggle to master basic motor skills and movement coordination. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing a game-based motor learning model on improving hand-eye coordination and basic motor skills among elementary school students. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental approach using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 50 students from SDN Kepanjen 1 Jombang, selected via total sampling and evenly divided into an experimental group (n=25), which received game-based instruction and a control group (n=25), which underwent conventional instruction. Data collection instruments included the wall toss test to measure hand-eye coordination and the Test of Gross Motor Development-2 (TGMD-2) to assess basic motor skills. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests (Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Levene’s homogeneity test), paired sample t-tests, and independent sample t-tests. The results showed that the experimental group’s mean score increased from 67.12 in the pretest to 83.84 in the posttest, while the control group’s score rose from 66.88 to 77.48. The paired sample t-test demonstrated a significant improvement in the experimental group (t = -13.116; p = 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, the independent sample t-test confirmed a significant difference in learning outcome improvements between the two groups (p = 0.000 < 0.05), with the experimental group recording a substantially greater increase in movement competence compared to the control group. In conclusion, the game-based motor learning model has proven to be significantly effective and can serve as an adaptive alternative approach for improving hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gross motor skills level of 11-year-old students at Football Schools (SSB) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Gross motor skills are a fundamental basis for mastering basic football techniques, yet their mapping within non-formal coaching settings such as SSB remains rarely comprehensively studied. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique. The participants consisted of 47 students aged 11 years from four SSBs in DIY: SSB Matra FC (Sleman), SSB Organ (Kulon Progo), SSB Seta Muda FC (Yogyakarta City), and SSB Selabora FC (Bantul). Data collection was conducted in June 2026 using five test instruments: the 40-meter Sprint Test, Agility Run, Vertical Jump Test, Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test, and Flamingo Balance Test. Descriptive analysis proved that speed was predominantly in the Good category (44.68%), agility in the Very Good category (59.57%), leg muscle explosive power in the Very Good category (72.34%), and balance in the Very Good category (97.87%). In contrast, eye–hand coordination was predominantly in the Moderate category (74.47%). In conclusion, the gross motor skills of 11-year-old students at SSB DIY were classified as good to very good on most components, except eye–hand coordination, which requires further strengthening in training programs.
