Abstract

The development of digital technology has introduced educational games as an innovative tool to improve children's literacy skills. This study explores the role of educational games in enhancing reading literacy among elementary school students through a qualitative approach using literature studies and library research methods. By analyzing various scientific articles, reports, and previous research, this study identifies the effectiveness of educational games in increasing students’ interest, motivation, and reading comprehension. The results show that educational games provide interactive and engaging learning experiences that help children understand letters, words, and sentences more effectively. Additionally, these games integrate storytelling elements, visual animations, and adaptive challenges that support cognitive development. The findings indicate that the use of educational games positively impacts early literacy skills, especially in recognizing phonemes, expanding vocabulary, and improving reading fluency. However, the effectiveness of educational games depends on factors such as content quality, learning strategies, and teacher or parental involvement. This research contributes to the discussion on integrating educational technology into early literacy programs and emphasizes the need for well-designed digital learning materials. Future studies should further investigate the long-term impact of educational games and their application across different educational settings.

Abstract

The resolution of gross human rights violations in Indonesia is still hampered by the failure of legal institutions to uphold the principle of accountability, which leads to economic injustice, social segregation, and political fragmentation as well as fuels apathy and the tendency to self-settlement. This study analyzes the main obstacles in law enforcement, including differences in interpretation between the Attorney General's Office and Komnas HAM regarding the category of gross human rights violations and the mistaken application of the principle of ne bis in idem which weakens the accountability of perpetrators. In addition, the urgency of compensation for victims is a crucial aspect in the recovery mechanism based on Law Number 26 of 2000 concerning Human Rights Courts and the principle of effective remedy in international law. This study also examines the legal process of the 1984 Tanjung Priok case, starting from the investigation by Komnas HAM to the trial at the Human Rights Court, as well as the implications of the decision on the fulfillment of victims' rights. Although the verdict has been handed down and compensation, restitution, and rehabilitation orders have been given, the implementation of this policy has been hampered by the absence of a clear method of calculating compensation and a weak execution mechanism. Therefore, this study emphasizes the urgency of establishing more effective settlement mechanisms, such as the Presidential Commission, to ensure justice for victims, enforce accountability, and end impunity in the settlement of gross human rights violations in a fair and transparent manner.

Abstract

This research aims to apply the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm in sentiment analysis of the Student Evaluation of Teaching (EDOM) at Primakara University, with the goal of improving higher education quality through the evaluation of faculty performance. Primary data was collected through interviews with the Quality Assurance Agency, while secondary data was obtained from EDOM for the academic years 2020/2021 to 2022/2023. A sentiment classification model was constructed using LSTM, initially dividing the data into 20 categories. To balance the data distribution, these categories were then merged into 6 main categories. The model was trained and tested using cross-validation, achieving an accuracy of 97%. However, when the model was tested with 100 new EDOM data points, the accuracy decreased to 74%, which is suspected to be caused by the emergence of new vocabulary that was not recognized or stored in the trained machine learning model. This decline in accuracy indicates the limitations of the model in handling new EDOM data that differs from the training data, and highlights the importance of periodic model updates or the use of out-of-vocabulary techniques to improve model performance in the future.

Abstract

The increasing need for clean water in urban areas, including Salatiga City, is a major challenge along with population growth and climate change. One alternative solution is a rainwater harvesting system using the Roof Harvesting System (RHS) method. This study aims to analyze the potential amount of rainwater that can be harvested, determine the optimal capacity of the reservoir, and design a suitable RHS system for non-domestic needs in the KH. Hasyim Asy'ari Building, Campus 3 UIN Salatiga. This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The research stages include collecting primary data through direct observation and measuring the roof area. Then collecting secondary data in the form of annual rainfall data and related literature. The last calculation of rainwater potential. The results showed that the roof area of the building was 2,756.81 m², with a catchment area of 1,626.89 m², it can capture rainwater with an optimal volume of 9,371 liters/day. Considering the annual rainfall pattern in Salatiga City, the optimal capacity of the recommended reservoir is 6 water tanks with a volume of 1,550 liters each, so the total capacity is 9,300 liters. Non-domestic water needs reach 9,552.68 liters/day, which means that this rainwater harvesting system can meet around 98% of daily needs, with the potential for integration of additional water sources to cover the shortfall. The proposed Roof Harvesting System design includes an initial filtration system, distribution pipe network, and reservoir, with periodic maintenance to ensure the quality of water that can be used for non-domestic needs. The implementation of this system has the potential to reduce dependence on conventional water sources and support the concept of a green campus and sustainable water management.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a discharge other than blood from the vaginal opening out of habit, whether smelly or not, and accompanied by local itching. The prevalence of vaginal discharge in South Asian adolescents is 70%, in Indonesia around 90% of women have the potential to experience vaginal discharge and as many as 60% are experienced by adolescent girls (Prabawati, 2019). Indonesian Adolescent Reproductive Health (SKRRI) shows that women aged 15-24 years experience vaginal discharge as much as 31.8%. The latest data from West Sumatra taken from PKBI (Indonesian Family Planning Association) in Padang in 2013 that women who experience vaginal discharge are 80% of women of childbearing age and 20% of married women. For data on vaginal discharge in Bukittinggi City taken based on previous research conducted at MAN 3 Agam, the incidence of vaginal discharge that occurs in adolescent girls is 71.7%. Many adolescents who experience vaginal discharge do not know about this problem. Efforts to achieve positive behavior change in handling and preventing vaginal discharge are health counseling about genital hygiene. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health counseling on genital hygiene on efforts to prevent vaginal discharge in adolescent girls at SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. This type of research is quantitative using a pre-experiment design with a pretest posttest design approach. The number of samples in this study were 30 people. Data collection using questionnaires and data analysis using paired t-test. The results showed a positive effect of health counseling on genital hygiene on efforts to prevent vaginal discharge in adolescent girls at SMAN 3 Bukittinggi as evidenced by the significant value of p (0.000) < α (0.05) and 95% confidence interval. For this reason, it is expected that respondents should be more open if they have problems related to reproductive health, especially regarding vaginal discharge.
