Abstract

Beta-carotene (?-Carotene) is an organic compound and is classified as a terpenoid. ?-Carotene is a red-orange pigment that is very abundant in plants and fruits. Beta-carotene is thought to have many functions that other compounds do not have (Subawati, 2009). The aim of this study was to determine ?-carotene levels in juwet fruit (Syzygium Cumini) by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Juwet fruit samples (Syzygium Cumini) were extracted with acetone as a solvent. The extract obtained was extracted again with petroleum ether solvent, then saponified with 15% KOH solvent in methanol. The extract was liberated with distilled water. The extract obtained was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. The extract obtained was analyzed qualitatively using Thin Layer Chromatography, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 332.1539 nm. The average level of ?-carotene in juwet fruit was 1.25 mg. Analysis of Vitamin C levels was carried out at a wavelength of 265.3 nm, the average level of Vitamin C in juwet fruit was 1.473

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that occurs due to destruction of pancreatic ? cells characterized by blood glucose levels that exceed normal limits. The purpose of this study was to determine the therapeutic effect of the combination of water hyacinth leaf extract and Sintrong leaf in reducing blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced experimental animals. Water hyacinth leaf powder and Sintrong leaves were extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol as a solvent. A total of 25 mice were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control CMC-Na 0.5%, positive control glibenclamide 0.00065 mg / g BW, water hyacinth leaf extract 17.5 mg / kg BW, Sintrong leaf extract 10.5 mg/ kg BW and a combination of water hyacinth leaf extract 17.5 mg / kg BW and sintrong leaf 10.5 mg / kg BW. The results showed that a single extract of water hyacinth and Sintrong leaves was able to reduce blood sugar levels for 7 days. The combination dose was effective in reducing blood sugar levels with a combination dose of 17.5 mg/ kg water hyacinth leaf extract in combination for 7 days.

Abstract

?-arbutin is a derivative of hydroquinone to treat hyperpigmentation disorders which acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor. The hydrophilic nature of ?-arbutin requires a dosage form that can increase its penetration into the skin is a cream. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of surfactants PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate-Span80 and PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil-Span80 on the physical characteristics of ?-arbutin cream. The cream formulation made into 2 formula, F1 using PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil-Span80 and F2 using PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate-Span80. Physical characteristics including organoleptic testing, emulsion type, pH, viscosity and Spreadability. The results obtained from the two cream formulas showed a significant difference in the measurement of pH, viscosity and Spreadability values. The results of the pH value of F1 and F2 are 5.74 and 6.24. The viscosity results obtained from F1 and F2 are 50500cPs and 43333cPs. The spreadability measurement results obtained from F1 and F2 were 9.93cm and 11.33cm. The results spreadability will be inversely proportional to the results of the viscosity obtained. The higher the viscosity yield, the smaller the spreadability of a cream.

Abstract

West Kalimantan is a tropical area whose territory consists of swampy areas, highlands, lowlands, and mountains which have the potential to be a place to live for medicinal plants. One of the new types of forest pandanus plant, Freycinetia sessiliflora Rizki, found on Mount Passi, Singkawang, has not been widely exposed to scientific knowledge. This study aims to isolate the flavonoid compounds contained in pandan ethanol extract by maceration extraction using 96% ethanol. Identification of flavonoid compounds was carried out by wiltrater, 10% NaOH, and H2SO4 (concentrated) tests. Isolation of flavonoids by Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography. The results of several tests showed that there were flavonoids contained in the ethanol extract pandanus Freycinetia sessiliflora Rizki.

Abstract

Peptic ulcer adalah peradangan terbuka yang muncul saat lapisan dalam perut (ulkus gastrik) rusak akibat cairan asam pencernaan, dyspepsia mesrupakan suatu kondisi yang bias menyebabkan rasa tidak nyaman pada perut bagian atas karena penyakit asam lambung atau maag, sedangkan gastritis merupakan peradangan pada lambung akibat asam lambung yang merusak lapisan pelindung dinding lambung. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kejadian Drug Related Problem’s (DRP’s) pada pasien peptic ulcer, dyspepsia, dan gastritis di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Provinsi NTB. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data dilakukan secara retrospektif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling dengan melihat data rekam medik kesehatan pasien gangguan lambung (peptic ulcer, dyspepsia, dan gastritis) rawat inap RSUD Provinsi NTB tahun 2018–2020, Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus. Setelah dilakukan seleksi dengan kriteria inklusi yang telah ditetapkan didapatkan 34 data yang digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dari 34 pasien ditemukan kejadian DRPs Sebanyak 5 pasien dengan kategori ketidaktepatan dosis yang mencakup dosis lebih dijumpai pada pemberian obat omeprazol oral (14.71%). Terdapat sebanyak 3 (8.82%) pasien dari 34 pasien yang terdiagnosa gangguan lambung (Peptic Ulcer, Dispepsia, Gastritis) di instalasi rawat inap RSUD Provinsi yang berpotensi mengalami interaksi obat.

Abstract

One of the mental disorders caused by the inability of individuals to make adjustments is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe disorder that affects a person thinks, feels, and acts. The management of schizophrenia treatment one of which uses antipsychotics. Evaluation parameters include the right drug, right dose, right patient, and right frequency of drug use. This research is a descriptive with data collection retrospectively. Data collection was carried out by using purposive sampling method by looking at the medical record data of inpatient schizophrenia in the period of January - December 2019 as many as 87 medical records. Schizophrenia was more experienced by men (79.31%) and aged 26-35 years (56.32%). The most common type of schizophrenia is paranoid as many as 75 patients (86.21%). The most common use of antipsychotics is the typical + atypical antipsychotic combination group of 44 patients (50.57%). The evaluating the accuracy of the use of antipsychotics obtained 88.51% right of the drug; 100% right patient; 98.85% correct dosage; and 96.55%% exact frequency. The use of drugs during hospitalization is good, but evaluation and monitoring are needed because there are still inaccuracies in the drug, dosage, and frequency in the use of antipsychotic drugs.

Abstract

Hospitalized community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) patients are always prescribed intravenous (IV) antibiotics. Inappropriate and unnecessary IV antibiotics usage leads to an increase in healthcare costs and bacterial resistance. IV to per oral (PO) conversion therapy can overcome these problems. The aim of the study was to evaluate the practice of switching from intravenous to oral antibiotics of inpatients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). This retrospective observational study was conducted by taking patient medical record from january until december 2019. Outcomes of the study are patient characteristics, pattern use, antibiotic and type conversion therapy. Adult inpatients on conversion therapy were eligible for study enrollment. Data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS 17.0. The study showed that among 78 patients who were eligible for conversion therapy. Most of the patient has mean duration conversion therapy 48-72 hours as much as 55 (70,5%). Beta-lactams were the most commonly converted antibiotics. However, the step-down therapy was the major type of conversion practiced in this study as much as 48 (61,5) followed by sequential and switch over with numbers 21 (27%) and 9 (11,5%) respectively. Based on the study findings wangaya hospital should improve the practice of sequential therapy in order to reduce the burden of CAP.

Abstract

Tumbuhan Andrographis paniculata (Sambiloto) memproduksi beragam metabolit sekunder dengan berbagai aktivitas biologi, termasuk antibakteri. Selain dari tumbuhan alami, potensi senyawa antibakteri dari tumbuhan A. paniculata dapat dieksplorasi dari jamur endofitiknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan kajian terkait potensi jamur endofitik yang berkolonisasi dalam jaringan bunga tumbuhan A. paniculata. Secara garis besar penelitian ini terdiri dari isolasi, kultivasi, ekstraksi, uji antibakteri dan uji kandungan metabolit sekunder dari jamur endofitik pada bunga tumbuhan A. paniculata. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap ekstrak EtOAc jamur BS-1 yang diisolasi dari bunga tumbuhan A. paniculata menunjukkan kemampuannya dalam menginhibisi pertumbuhan semua bakteri uji pada konsentrasi 1%, 3%, dan 5%. Studi terkait senyawa yang berkontribusi dalam sifat antibakteri ini perlu dilakukan lebih lanjut. Untuk infomasi bagi kita semua bahwa penelitian terkait kajian sifat antibakteri dari jamur yang hidup pada bunga A. paniculata baru pertama kali dilakukan pada kesempatan ini.

Abstract

Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr). Is used by the people in Central Kalimantan as a traditional treatment by utilizing onion dayak tubers while the leaves are rarely used, the part of dayak onion leaves also have the potential to naturally be useful as traditional medicine because they contain compounds phenol. Phenol compounds are useful as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic and antitumor. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of phenolic chemical compounds in ethyl acetate fraction and 70% ethanol extract of dayak onion leaves and find out the total phenolic content contained. The sample in this study is Dayak onion leaves from Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. Extraction of onion dayak leaves using maceration method. Fraction extract was made by liquid-liquid extraction method with ethyl acetate solvent. The level determination method used was Uv-Vis Spectrophotometry with Folin ciocalteau reagent. The results of this study indicate that from 70% ethanol extract and dayak onion leaves ethyl acetate fraction is containing phenolic compounds. Phenolic levels in this study obtained total levels of dayak onion leaves ethyl acetate fraction was 10.61% ± 0.0019 said to be greater than the 70% ethanol extract content of dayak onion leaves was 2.23% ± 0.0002.

Abstract

The leaves of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), cempedak (Artocarpus integer), and tarap (Artocarpus odoratissimus) are used empirically by the people of Desa Pengaron, Banjar Regency for treat antimalarials, antidiabetic, abdominal pain, and cancer. The secondary metabolites of the phenol group are responsible for various plant activities. This study aims to determine of compounds and total phenol content in leaves of jackfruit (A. heterophyllus), cempedak (A. integer), and tarap (A. odoratissimus). The leaf samples were oven-dried, then the leaf powder was extracted using ethanol. Phytochemical screening was carried out on the extract using reagents, and phenol content was determined using a spectrophotometer UV-Vis. The results showed that the extracts of leaves jackfruit (A. heterophyllus), cempedak (A. integer), and tarap (A. odoratissimus) contained phenol, flavonoids, and tannins. Total phenol content of leaves A. heterophyllus, A. integer and A. odoratissimus were 13,174 ± 1,378 mgGAE / gram extract, 37,204 ± 2,202 mgGAE / gram extract, and 35,886 ± 0.890 mgGAE / gram extract.
