Abstract

Health center Pakan Rabaa in District 50 City faces obstacles in achieving the Minimum Service Standard (SPM) for elderly health, recorded as the second lowest rank out of 11 health centers. Community service initiatives were carried out to empower the elderly and increase the independence of elderly ADLs through health screening activities, elderly gymnastics, and physical and cognitive skills training. Activities involved health centers, integrated healthcare centers, and cadres. The goal was to improve health services and target coverage of SPM for Elderly Health in the Pakan Rabaa Health Center area. Methods involved physical gymnastics, brain gymnastics exercises, and ADL, Mental, and BMI screening. Screening results showed more likely with independent ADL status. The depression scale is standard, while the average BMI is close to mild obesity, but many are under normal conditions. More than 50 seniors participated in gymnastics, creating positive experiences, encouragement, and opportunities to share experiences. ADL and depression screening activities can be continued using the g-form. It is important to regularly schedule gymnastics activities and train in physical and cognitive skills to improve the achievement of screening targets at the health center and SPM for Elderly Health Services in the area.

Abstract

Stunting, which is a condition that disrupts growth, is currently still a problem in Indonesia, including Padang City. One way to overcome stunting is through nutrition education which aims to increase participants' knowledge in order to achieve behavioural changes towards a more positive direction. In this community service, the location of the activity was carried out at Permata Bunda Kindergarten, Padang with the main target being parents and teachers. The material presented was about stunting and also balanced nutrition eating behaviour, using lecture delivery methods and the distribution of leaflets and posters. The post-test results showed a significant increase (p<0.001) of 3 points in participants' nutritional knowledge. These results indicate that the nutrition education provided can have a positive impact on participants' nutritional knowledge. In the future, it is hoped that nutrition education can be implemented more widely, increasing public awareness of the importance of nutrition, so that the prevalence of stunting in children can be reduced.

Abstract

Odot plants have significant potential to enhance livestock productivity and agricultural sustainability. This extension aims to increase farmers' knowledge about the benefits of Odot plants and its cultivation techniques. The extension method involves forming a service team and meeting with farmer groups. The extension program includes information on the benefits of Odot plants, cultivation techniques, maintenance, and harvesting. Practical field training was also provided to farmers. The extension results showed a positive response from farmers, who actively participated in the extension activities. They understood the potential of Odot plants in improving livestock productivity. These plants are nutrient-rich and can be used as a high-quality feed source. Importantly, using Odot as supplementary livestock feed has a high potential to support healthy and efficient livestock production, giving farmers confidence in their livestock management. This extension is a crucial step in promoting sustainable agriculture and livestock farming.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a significant problem not solved by elementary schools in the Ahmad Yani Cluster, Bonang District, Demak Regency. The problem is caused by ignorance and the inability to manage and process waste due to the large amount of plastic waste clogging the river. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to empower teachers and students at Ahmad Yani Cluster Elementary Schools to utilize plastic waste by making eco-paving using the Rebricks-Paving Block Appropriate Technology (TTG) tool. The activities were carried out in several stages: socialization, training, technology application, assistance, and program evaluation. The activity results showed that this program positively impacted the partners, especially in increasing awareness and skills in plastic waste management. The program evaluation showed a high level of success, with 100% of respondents agreeing that plastic waste should be recycled and 90.50% rating the program as successful overall. In addition, 87.50% of partners felt helped in utilizing plastic waste with the TTG tool, and the implementation of the Rebricks-Paving Block TTG tool achieved excellent results with a score of 92.25%. The program successfully provides waste management solutions in the school environment. It can become a model for plastic waste management that can be widely applied.

Abstract

Applying science and technology encourages innovation, increasing development productivity, independence and national competitiveness. Indonesia has a science and technology area named Science Techno Park (STP). Maturity measurement is an indicator of the level of an STP to apply science and technology for the welfare of society. There are three levels of maturity for STP, which are low (pratama), middle (madya), and high (utama). Before entering the best maturity level, STP must go through various kinds of preparation and fulfil the elements contained in it. The community service activity team at Universitas Andalas conducted a web seminar (webinar) to socialise the maturity assessment for STP Unand from the academic side. The webinar invited two experts on STP maturity measurement. One of the primary assessments is the number of products produced that are expected to come from the results of academic research. This activity can help STP Unand prepare to increase its maturity to a high level.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are dangerous diseases and result in death. The problems found by partners are the low coverage of NCD screening targets, access to health services and the absence of an integrated services centre for the elderly in the targetted area, which impacts NCD monitoring not being carried out. Community service activities aimed to prevent and suppress NCD cases, especially for older people in vulnerable groups. The solution was to detect NCD and provide education and counselling for older people with NCD problems. The community service partner was the Public Health Center. The method of implementing activities was health screening (measuring height and weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid), providing health education about hypertension and diabetes mellitus and health counselling for those indicated by NCDs in Pauh sub-District, Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The screening results found 15 healthy older people, 13 people with hypertension, ten people with diabetes, nine people with rheumatism, and seven people with high cholesterol. The results of education and counselling found an increase in knowledge by 16.69 points—follow-up plans by partners to form elderly health centres.

Abstract

This article aims to determine how product selling prices were determined at MSMEs Karak Kaliang Talua RF. Data collection used the observation method by conducting interviews with the owner, asking several questions related to his business, and documenting the results of the observation visit. Based on the visit results, this business had a reasonably small target market by marketing only entrusting products to traders in traditional markets. The owner expects a profit of IDR 5,000/0.25kg for each product, namely Karak Kaliang Talua and Roti Kariang. The owner of Karak Kaliang Talua RF sets prices based only on estimated cost prices and profit expectations. After processing the data from the interview results, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the selling price set by the owner and the profit expectations.
