Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health concern worldwide, largely driven by unhealthy lifestyles such as poor diet, physical inactivity, and excess body weight. Early identification of modifiable risk factors, including cholesterol levels, body mass index (BMI), and physical activity, is crucial for preventing hypertension. This community-based screening activity was conducted on 7 August 2025, at SMA Negeri 9 Padang, targeting teachers, administrative staff, and food vendors. A total of 80 adults participated in the study using convenience sampling. The activity included health education followed by individual health screenings, which consisted of blood pressure measurement, BMI calculation, cholesterol testing using portable point-of-care devices, and physical activity assessment using structured questionnaires. The results showed that 45% of participants were classified as prehypertensive, 83.8% had high cholesterol levels, and 66.3% were overweight or obese. Most participants (72.5%) reported moderate physical activity levels, which fell short of the World Health Organization’s recommendations. These findings indicate a high risk of hypertension among adults in the school community, particularly related to elevated cholesterol, excess body weight, and insufficient physical activity. We identified hypertension risk factors and provided health education and individualized screening feedback to raise awareness of cardiovascular risks and emphasize the importance of regular screening.

Abstract

Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs) are industrially manufactured products high in sugar, salt, and fat, with minimal whole-food content. The increasing consumption poses significant health risks, particularly for children. This community service program aimed to improve parents’ knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of limiting UPF intake and promoting balanced nutrition consumption. The program was conducted at RA Fatanah, Padang City, from June to July 2025 and involved 22 parents selected through total sampling. Nutrition education was delivered via a lecture method supported by PowerPoint materials, leaflets, and booklets. Participants completed pre- and post-tests to assess changes in knowledge. The proportion of individuals with low knowledge decreased from 18.2% to 0%, while those with high knowledge increased by 22.8%. On average, participants’ scores rose by 18 points after the intervention. Overall, this program demonstrated that structured nutrition education effectively enhances parental knowledge. Strengthening educational initiatives may contribute to reducing UPF consumption and supporting improved dietary behaviors within families.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the production and digital marketing capacity of the Wan Alan Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), a home–scale spice producer in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra. The intervention was motivated by the partner’s limited production technology, absence of standardized SOPs, lack of product testing, weak brand protection, and suboptimal digital marketing performance. The activities were carried out through training, technology adoption, mentoring, proximate testing, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development, brand IPR registration assistance, photography, videography workshops, and digital marketing coaching. The results show significant improvements: production capacity increased, sterilization time decreased, SOPs and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations were implemented, proximate tests were completed, and trademark registration progressed to the substantive examination stage. In the marketing aspect, visual content quality improved substantially, Instagram performance increased by more than 233%, and new distribution channels were opened through a formal partnership with Budiman Supermarket. These outcomes demonstrate that integrated assistance combining production technology, operational standardization, and digital marketing enables MSMEs to enhance competitiveness, expand market reach, and strengthen business sustainability.

Abstract

According to a 2019 survey by United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), bullying occurs in children worldwide. Globally, more than 30 percent of students aged 13 to 15 regularly experience bullying. Bullying can cause anxiety and fear in adolescents, disrupt concentration in school, and encourage them to avoid the school environment. Bullying problems that occur in schools require preventive intervention. The goal is to prevent this bullying practice from continuing or escalating into more extreme actions. Interventions in the form of education and training are an initial effort to convey a message to adolescents, individuals, or groups about the dangers of bullying. Community service activities at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School in Padang City aimed to increase adolescents' knowledge of bullying prevention. The implementation consisted of four stages: problem analysis, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of activities. The average pretest knowledge level increased from 58.47 to 84.02 (posttest) after the education was provided to 72 students. This activity has been proven to increase students' and the school community's insight and understanding of bullying. For the program's sustainability, it is hoped that the school will be involved and committed to regular bullying eradication activities. A sustainable program will increase anti-bullying awareness in schools.

Abstract

East Java is a region rich in MSMEs in the food, beverage, craft, and other handmade goods sectors. One such area is Sukolilo Village, Lamongan, which is a renowned center for the bamboo craftsmen industry in Lamongan, participants were 10 bamboo craftsmen in Sukolilo Village. One of the reasons behind this initiative is the importance of financial literacy in the MSME sector, which is considered low and focuses only on profit/loss from a sales value. One thing that needs to be considered is the importance of determining the costs of the production process and determining the selling price, thus creating simple bookkeeping for MSMEs to increase financial literacy. One of the effective strategies in implementing community service activities in Sukolilo Village, Lamongan is to implement three stages of implementation, namely identification, training and mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. Based on the community service activities carried out in Sukolilo Village, which were attended by bamboo craftsmen in Sukolilo Village, Lamongan, it can be concluded that bamboo craftsmen in Sukolilo Village, Lamongan, started downloading the SIAPIK Bank Indonesia application from their respective cellphones via the Play Store and started using the SIAPIK application starting from registration, filling in business information, initial application settings, to entering financial data. The results of monitoring and evaluation indicate that bamboo craftsmen in Sukolilo Village require dedicated time and thought to prepare financial reports. Abstract

As Indonesia’s foundational ideology, Pancasila faces considerable challenges in the digital age, particularly among Generation Z, who, as digital natives, often struggle to embody its values in online interactions. This study examines both the comprehension and application of Pancasila values among students at SMA Negeri 34 Jakarta, while evaluating the effectiveness of a community service program aimed at reinforcing digital ethics through a Pancasila-based framework. Namely by using the quasi-experimental one group pre-post design method. The program adopted an interactive pedagogical approach, integrating real-world case analyses and digital challenges to reconceptualize Pancasila from an abstract normative ideal into a practical moral compass. Empirical findings reveal that prior to the intervention, students demonstrated a limited grasp of Pancasila’s principles, reflected in an average pre-test score of 5.1 out of 10. Following participation in the program, the average post-test score rose significantly to 8.9 out of 10, representing a 74.5% improvement. This substantial increase highlights the efficacy of contextual and practice-oriented methodologies in bridging the gap between ideological principles and behavioral practices. The findings affirm the enduring relevance of Pancasila as a moral framework for Generation Z within digital environments, while offering a replicable model for the integration of Pancasila-based character education in secondary schools across Indonesia. However, this study has causal limitations, as it only measured student outcomes in urban areas and public schools. Different outcomes may be found in rural or religious schools.

Abstract

Women's insufficient cardiovascular awareness remains a major obstacle in preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD) within this demographic. Addressing key contributing elements such as inactive lifestyles and insufficient physical activity among females is essential. The SEJIWA group, a women's fitness team in Padang, aims to foster healthy living, consistent physical training, and advancement in cardiac wellness. This program seeks to strengthen cardiovascular awareness and establish routine exercise culture among SEJIWA members. Various techniques were employed, encompassing educational sessions, promotional activities, health assessments, and practical training. The program ran from July through August 2025, with participation from 30 female SEJIWA members. Results revealed enhanced cardiac awareness score following education (50.04 versus 69.80), elevated physical activity measurements after weekly exercise routines (642.56 versus 940.38 MET). The majority exhibited unhealthy waist measurements, most participants were either obese or overweight, over half demonstrated elevated blood pressure readings and hypertension, most showed high cholesterol levels, while only a minority presented with elevated blood glucose. This program illustrated the efficacy of combined interventions including education, promotional strategies, screening, and consistent exercise in enhancing awareness and behavioral patterns. Nevertheless, the substantial CVD risk factors observed among participants highlight the critical need for sustained programs targeting CVD prevention in women.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Indonesia's economy, contributing over 60% to the national GDP and employing more than 97% of the workforce. In Payakumbuh, culinary SMEs have significant potential due to the abundance of local raw materials and high demand for traditional foods such as rendang. Rendang Gadih is one such SME focusing on rendang production for both local and regional markets. However, inefficiencies in production, inconsistent quality, and manual management processes limit its competitiveness. This community service activity introduced the concept of Lean Manufacturing to improve efficiency and reduce waste. The main tools socialized were Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Process Activity Mapping (PAM), and identification of the eight types of waste, along with the application of Kaizen principles for continuous improvement. Implementation was carried out through preparation, socialization, and evaluation stages. The results of this activity are expected to help Randang Gadih enhance production efficiency, minimize waste, and strengthen competitiveness, serving as a model for other culinary SMEs in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Nagari Salimpek in Alahan Panjang, West Sumatra, has a potential for wellness tourism due to its rich biodiversity, especially medicinal and cosmetic plants. However, community awareness in managing Family Medicinal Gardens (TOGA) remain limited, with only three of twenty household groups actively cultivating herbal plants. This condition emphasizes the need for community empowerment to optimize health and economic benefits from local resources. This community service program aimed to enhance local capacity in cultivating and processing TOGA as the basis for developing a Herbal Cosmetic Village. The programme began on 19 July 2025 and was evaluated over six months. Activities included educational sessions on TOGA utilization, training on herbal and cosmetic plant processing, distribution and planting of herbal seeds, and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with local stakeholders. A pre-test and post-test evaluation involving 31 participants showed significant improvement in knowledge, with understanding of the “herbal center village” concept rising from 29% to 55% and awareness of Nagari Salimpek’s potential increasing from 32% to 77%. Overall, participants gained broader insights into the role of TOGA in health, cosmetics, and economic development. These results highlight the importance of continued education, mentorship, and government support to establish Nagari Salimpek as a model Herbal Cosmetic Village for wellness tourism.
