Abstract

This research used the method of descriptive content analysis study. The analysis was done on any kind of scientific articles concerning to the usage of Ca(OH)2. Ca(OH)2 has used widely in any kind of liveness, such as the preservative on coconut sap and the eggs of purebred chicken, the preventer of browning on flour, the controller of rotten the base of the stem on the plants, as the alternative of the substance of mordant on textile ingredient, as the mixture of hampering the development to colony P. capsica diameter, as the mixture for treatment Orf traditionally, as the substance which helps in the process of separating weight metal waste industry. Ca(OH)2 is also used for the process of immersion to reduce the cyanide content inside cassava leaf, as the Thickener in increasing bio grease performance environmentally. Ca(OH)2 is the ingredient added to the processing of production on various chips in the stage of ingredient immersion. The addition of Ca(OH)2 has the purpose to repair chips' texture based on consumer wants. Ion calcium is by Ca(OH)2 having the reaction with the carboxyl group by pectin which is from tubers or fruits which are used as the main ingredient of chips. The Calcium hydroxide produced the gas CO2 which can form the pores in the chip surface, which had a good impact to have a texture crunchy chip produced. Another fixing of the texture, the addition of Ca(OH)2 has also the purpose to prevent the browning reaction until the appearance of chips becomes better. The effect of browning is going to appear because there is a reaction between the saccharides with the protein or amino acid. On some variously of chips ingredient, the function of Ca(OH)2 can omit the mucus, dissolve the mucus stuck, omit the itchy sensation, and simplify the process of development of chips when it is fried. The usage of concentration and the immersion time of Ca(OH)2 can turn into differences in every main ingredient for chips. It is occurred because the differences of tubers kind or fruit used, the natural water contains which was had to tubers/fruits, the method/the technique of immersion, and the temperature of immersion.

Abstract

The study aimed at analyzing a comprehensive account of the dominant type of article errors, finding out the causes of errors, and determining appropriate pedagogical approaches to reduce the errors in students’ descriptive writing tasks. The analysis was based on the Surface Structure Taxonomies of errors comprising omission, addition, and substitution. The data were collected from written samples encountered by 40 first-semester students of Plantation Management, Samarinda State Polytechnic of Agriculture. One of five different topics should be chosen and written by the student in approximately forty-five minutes. The study’s results revealed three types of English article errors that emerged in students’ writing involving omission as the dominant English article error type, addition, and substitution as the second and the third one. The cause of errors emerging in the students’ writing was the first language interference (Indonesian) that strongly influences the process of foreign language (English) acquisition of the articles due to the differences in rules between Indonesian and English structures. Pedagogical implications included a contrastive comparison between languages that may improve learners' ability to instantly recognize differences in article usage between their language systems, conducting simple writing tasks as routine exercises for students, error correction in a flexible way, providing English reading materials and encouraging learners to read the materials extensively.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels. The cause of glucose control failure is decreased insulin production by pancreatic β-cells and insulin resistance. Both lead to the obstacle of glucose uptake into cells. The mechanism of glucose uptake into cells is crucial in carbohydrate metabolism. This mechanism aims to produce energy in the form of ATP. The main signaling pathway after the process of glucose uptake is the PI3K/Akt pathway. This pathway involves many proteins activated by phosphorylation mechanisms. One of the proteins involved in this pathway is PTEN, a PI3K regulator. PTEN activity can dephosphorylate PI3K so that the insulin signaling pathway becomes blocked and glucose cannot be uptaken into cells. It causes blood glucose levels to increase. The role of PTEN in inhibiting the PI3K/Akt pathway seems to be a crucial matter to observe. By inhibiting PTEN activity, the insulin signaling pathway is expected to work properly. We have searched, read, analyzed, and summarized various studies regarding the potential of PTEN to reduce diabetes mellitus cases. In some research articles, the use of active compounds and therapy using stem cells to inhibit PTEN activity has shown good progress in the insulin signaling pathway. Based on these, it can be an option to make PTEN a target for diabetes mellitus therapy.

Abstract

Tambong Village is a regional unit in Banyuwangi Regency, which was currently a priority for the government to develop because it has potential that needs to be explored and developed to improve its citizens' welfare. Likewise, the development of human resources in rural areas should be prioritized so that regional competitiveness increases. One of the things that can trigger increased competitiveness between villages is to utilize information technology to provide information to residents and the broader community about what is in the village (for example, tourist attractions). For this reason, a website page is needed to convey information, and this page can also be used to report activities or other information to increase community enthusiasm to participate in the activities carried out. However, the village website page that has been provided has yet to be filled in with a content management system, so it cannot display information on activities and tourist attractions in Tambong village. It is because the village officials in charge of managing the village website still need more knowledge about the technical management of the information on the website. In addition, village officials also need knowledge and skills so that the information conveyed on the website can be packaged in an informative manner. Based on the needs of Tambong Village officials, this community service activity will train village officials on how to manage the website and use the Google Maps application so that the village website can be continuously updated and maximized to display quality information to the community and become information media to attract tourists to Tambong Village tourist attractions. After undergoing training, village officers were assigned to create website content, and villagers were asked to assess the quality of the content through a survey. The survey consisted of 9 questions and was conducted on 20 village residents. The survey results showed that the quality of the content created by the village officers was already good.

Abstract

Vegetation analysis on the upper Mahakam river border. The Mahakam River Basin (DAS) is very wide, reaching 7.724.300 Ha. The condition of the vegetation in the Mahakam watershed continues to change due to the development of plantations, mining, and settlements. On the other hand, efforts to maintain biological resources from the diversity of vegetation are needed to protect against extinction. Remote sensing data can be used to differentiate between primary and secondary vegetation economically. However, it has limitations for detecting vegetation composition and the number of individuals per unit area. Therefore, field surveys in the context of conducting vegetation analysis are still needed to complement remote sensing data. This study aims to analyze the vegetation in each growth phase, namely the seedling, sapling, pole, and tree phases on the Mahakam riverbank. The method used is to make observation plots of 13 plots for each growth phase. Plots of 2 x 2 m2 for seedling observation, 5 x 5 m2 for sapling level, 10 x 10 m2 for pole level, and 20 x 20 m2 for tree level observation. Based on data analysis, the seedling stage consisted of 30 species, the average number of stems was 25576.9 per ha, the species diversity index was 1.371, and the highest important value index was 21.8% of Coffea robusta. There were 17 species of saplings, an average number of 4,092.3 stems per hectare, a diversity index of 1,118, and the highest important value index of 39.5% from Theobroma cacao. The pole level contained 16 species, the average number of stems was 1023.1 per hectare, the diversity index was 1.138, and the highest interest index was 23.7% for Paraserianthes falcataria. The tree level consists of 30 species. The average number of stems is 255.8 per hectare, the diversity index is 1.282, and the highest important value index is 54.9% of Durio zibethinus. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that most of the vegetation in the Mahakam riverbank area is former fields or agricultural activities.

Abstract

Reloud aims to foster students' love for reading. Indonesian adolescent sexual reproductive health research states that 10% of those aged 15-24 have had premarital sex, used condoms (49% of women & 27% of men), had unwanted pregnancies 24%, knowing that their friends had abortions ( 23% of girls and 19% of boys) and 15% of them consume alcohol, this is influenced by various factors, one of which is the lack of information about adolescent reproductive health. Literacy in Indonesia is included in the low category (37.32%), so efforts to increase literacy are very urgent to be carried out as an effort to improve the quality of the Indonesian nation's resources. The target population in this study was health-based senior high school students in Samarinda City. The design of this study used a Quasi Experiment with a pre-posttest approach with a control group design. Samples were taken from as many as 3 (three) health-based schools in Samarinda city with a purposive sampling of 60 respondents. Characteristics of the dominant respondent are 16 years old (31.6%), female (65%), and in class X (38.3%). The results of data analysis on differences in the level of adolescent reproductive health knowledge obtained a p-value of 0.826 if no intervention was given, a p-value of 0.153 if given 1 (one) intervention, and a p-value of 0.001 if given 2 (two) Reloud interventions. Of the three groups that described the effectiveness of the Reloud intervention method, it occurred significantly in increasing adolescent knowledge related to reproductive health by a p-value of 0.031 so this method is one that can be applied to adolescents.
