Abstract

This study aimed to describe the character values conveyed in batik, especially in the flora motifs of Ngawi batik. This research used descriptive qualitative method with a hermeneutic approach. The samples of this study were teak batik, melon motifs, rice motifs, and bamboo motifs. The four samples were taken through purposive sampling technique, because these motifs were the main motifs of Batik in Ngawi Regency. In addition, data collection techniques used observation, interviews, documentation, and literacy studies. The interview used in this study was free guided interview, so that data collection activities only used an interview guide that contained an outline of the things being asked. Data of the research obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques, which consisted of 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study showed that the four flora motifs have various character values that can be used as a means of building the character of students.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan teknik Chain Drill dalam mengajarberbicara bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu menggunakan pretest-posttestcontrol group design. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data sampel pada penelitian ini adalah tesberbicara dalam bentuk instruksi. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah pretest danposttestberbicara. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianaisis dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptifdan inferensial untuk menarik sebuah kesimpulan. Berdasarkan analisis, ditemukan bahwa skor rata-rata post-test lebih tinggi dari skor rata-rata pre-test (64≥37), sedangkan di kelas kontrol, skor rata-rata post-test jugalebih tinggi daripada skor rata-rata pre-test (50≥30). Dari data yang diperoleh, diperoleh perbedaan skor baikpada post-test dari pre-test antara kedua kelas; kelas eksperimen 14≥7 untuk kelas kontrol yang menunjukkanskor eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol. Analisis lebih lanjut pada uji-t, ditemukan bahwa skor uji-t(2,52) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (1,671) dengan tingkat kebebasan 42. Dengan kata lain, Ha diterima dan Hoditolak, dimana terdapat perbedaan signifikan dalam perolehan selisih skor antara kelas eksperimen dankontrol. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan teknik Chain Drill efektif dalam mengajarberbicara. Abstract: This study aims at finding out the effectiveness of Chain Drill technique in teaching speaking. Thisstudy useda quasi-experimental research method with pretest-posttest control group design. The instrumentused to gain data of samples was a speaking test in the form of instruction. The technique used to collect datawas pretest and posttest of speaking test. Data gained were subsequently analyzed by using descriptive andinferential statistical analysis from which a conclusion was drawn. Based on the analysis, it was found that themean score of post-test was higher than the mean score of pre-test (64≥37), while in the control class, the meanscore of post-test was also higher than the mean score of pre-test (50≥30). From the data obtained, it was foundthe difference in score both in post-test from pre-test between the two classes; experimental class 14≥7 forcontrol class which showed experimental score was higher than the control class. The further analysis on the t-test, it was found that t-test score (2.52) was higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom 42. In otherwords, H a was accepted and H o was rejected in which there was a significant difference in scores betweenexperiment and control class. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Chain Drill technique is effective inteaching speaking.

Abstract

The research was carried out to know the role played by teacher assistants in inclusive schools. The research method used for this study is a systematic review by capturing articles related to the research topic published between 2009-2019 through the electronic search engine Taylor and Francis Online. The initial search found 24 articles and then selected based on exclusive criteria, in which there were ten articles identified using thematic data analysis techniques. The results found that role of a teacher assistant is role pedagogic and non-pedagogic. Pedagogic roles include learning, giving assignments, helping students complete assignments, performing assignments, making IEP (individualized educational program), assessing and managing student behavior while non-pedagogic roles include emotional support, consulting, facilitating teachers, students, and parents. The results also show the importance of teacher assistants having competencies according to their educational background and building collaborative learning between classroom teachers and teacher assistants in the classroom. Limitations and recommendations for future research are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to  improve the students’ mathematics learning outcomes of SMPN 1 Kayangan through the application of the Independent training method. This research used classroom action research by applying the model developed by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research was conducted in class VIII.1 of SMPN 1 Kayangan in the Even Semester of the 2018/2019 school year. Data collection instruments used were observation sheets, test, and documentation. The data analysis technique of this study used qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The result of the study showed that the students’ mathematics learning outcomes by applying the Independent training method in cycle 1 was 65.2% and cycle 2 was 85.2%. Meanwhile, the average cycle test results were 70.2 and cycle 2 was 81.4. This result indcated an increase in student learning outcomes. From this classroom action research, it can be concluded that Independent training can improve the students’ mathematics learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 Kayangan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of academic supervision in efforts to improve the competence of teachers Classroom in learning in the classroom, which benefits to the Head school is to know the improvement of teachers in the learning process. This study was conducted during two cycles, each cycle activity there are four stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The indicators of success in this study are; 1) the principal's observation or teacher observation during the mentoring process has been successful score average> 4.0, 2) average teachers in the learning process reached> 85% with an average score> 70.00 (good category). Results research on first cycle principal principal observation (3.80), average teacher observation (3.33) and outcomes academic supervision in the average class (63.67). In cycle II the average principal's observation (4.40) with percentage of achievement (100%), average teacher observation (4.33) with percentage of achievement (100%) and the results of academic supervision in the average class (81.22) with the percentage of achievement (100%). The success indicator has been reached, the research stated successful and the slowing in cycle II. Results research on the second cycle shows an increase in the competence of classroom teachers in the learning process real class It is recommended that other principals conduct similar research in an effort improving teacher competence, and for other classroom teachers to make the learning process appropriate with well-planned scenarios, responsibilities, backsliding improvement of learning achievement of learners in accordance with the class that is the responsibility.

Abstract

This research is aimed to develop a particle dynamics module integrated traditional games that is applied in e-learning to improve scientific literacy skills. This study was a developmental research because it developed a module based on local wisdom with the R and D method developed by Borg and Gall. Research procedures included preliminary studies, product planning, product development, product validation (validation by experts), product revisions and field tests. Field trials used one group pretest-posttest design with 19 students of 4th natural science education as the samples. The instruments used were validation sheets and scientific literacy test. The results showed that the Particle Dynamics module based on local wisdom of traditional games was declared valid and feasible by experts to be implemented in distance learning (e-learning). In addition, the application of the particle dynamics module based on local wisdom of the traditional game through e-learning had a moderate effect on students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

The number of teaching methods or strategies becomes an indication that none of the best or most powerful teaching methods are to be used in the learning process. In the end all came back to the teacher himself. Therefore, educators must have insight, understanding, and mastering various teaching methods, so they can choose and be able to apply it in their best way. Hypnoteaching as a teaching method that is quite unique does require adjustment, especially its appearance that gives the impression of making the hypnoteaching method is considered less rational in the world of education, because that in this paper, will be discussed about the management of learning with hypnoteaching methods, concepts, history and strategy learning to enrich the insight of teachers' teaching skills amidst the rapid development and progress of science and technology.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop an English course book for bilingual boarding school (Pesantren). The value of four of national pillars (Pancasila, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, UUD 45 and NKRI) is chosen as the theme of the course book. The research model uses research and development (R&D) methods of Reiser and Mollenda where the development model has several steps, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE). The 45 students were taken as the subject of the research and determined as purposive research sample from 300 populations of all students. The instruments of this research were test and questionnaire. The descriptive and quantitative analyses were employed in this research.The result of this research is an English book which designed by some consideration; the curriculum is adapted from general English, the sequence and approach of the coursebook is adapted from coursebook the model by Joko Priyana, Riandi and Anita P., and every chapter of the book contains certain information and the value of the four pillars of nationality.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the need analysis of learning English for Nurses (EFN) for nursing students and to develop learning media by using powtoon application in teaching English for Nurses. The research employed research and development (R&D) design. It was used Sugiyono model consisted of potential and problem, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product testing, product revision, and massive production. The data were collected through questionnaires and interview. The learning videos were validated by expert judges and were also done field testing to the 42 nursing students. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. The result of the research showed that 1) 64.5% of the students would like to combine the material between general English and specific topics about nursing, 2) The developed learning video consisted of some parts such as opening, learning objectives, content, conversation, vocabularies, and closing. The result of expert judges both in media and material were 87.5% and 93.5% which were categorized as excellent materials. It is expected that the learning video can be applied in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aimed to seek the effect of the Note-Taking Pairs strategy on the students' critical thinking skill in reading comprehension. This study used an experimental method with pre-test and post-test design. The research sample covered class XI-IPA2 which was used as an experimental group and consisted of 26 students and class XI-IPA1 was used as a control group consisting of 26 students. The instruments used in collecting data were reading test in the form of multiple-choice and observation sheets of critical thinking skills. The finding data were subsequently analyzed by using SPSS 18. The t-test results showed that the t-test value (1.754) was higher than the t-table (1.671) at the significance level 0.05. Therefore, based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a positive effect from the use of the Note-Taking Pairs strategy on the students' critical thinking skill in reading comprehension at the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 2 Narmada.
