Abstract

This study aims to describe mistakes made by first-semester students in solving triangle problems in trigonometry subjects. This research was a qualitative descriptive study with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were students of the first semester of the mathematics education study program at a tertiary institution in the city of Malang. The research instrument consisted of a question about solving triangular problems in the context of trigonometry and an interview guide. The data collected in this study consisted of the results of the subjects’ works and transcripts of interview results. Subject work data were analyzed descriptively to determine the type of error made by the subjects. The transcript data from the interview results were analyzed using coding which aimed to determine the factors causing the subjects’ errors. The results showed that the errors of 19 students in solving triangular problems in the context of trigonometry obtained 39% on concept errors, 28% on principle errors, 6% on miscalculations, and 33% on factual errors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine indicators of education in Indonesia based on the School Participation Rate (SPR), Rough Participation Rate (RPR), and Pure Participation Rate (PPR). This research used quantitative methods. The type of data used was secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (CSA) during the 1994-2018 period. The instrument used by BPS to collect data was a questionnaire through the National Survey and Census program (Susenas). The population involved in this study was all Indonesians based on age and education level. The data were processed using quantitative statistics with explorative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the SPR, RPR, and PPR in Indonesia based on age and level of education had an increasing trend. However, based on the average SPR, RPR, and PPR scores, educational participation has decreased with increasing age and level of education taken.

Abstract

The research aimed to analyze the correlation between metacognitive skills with students' chemistry learning outcomes. The research method used is descriptive correlational with data collection techniques through observation to measure the implementation of learning models, test to measure the students' achievement and metacognitive skills, and a questionnaire to measure students' Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI). This research used a simple random sampling technique of 31 students from XI MIPA 1. The data analysis technique was the percentage, n-gain, analysis of normality by Shapiro-Wilk, the correlation analysis by Product Moment Pearson and Regression Linear using the IBM SPSS Statistics 21 application. The result showed that 1) the average percentage implementation of the learning models respectively at meetings 1 and 2 was 96.9% and 97.8% respectively with very good category, 2) metacognitive skills trained were conveyed very well, supported by the average MAI that is good and the average of N-Gain percentage of metacognitive skills and students' achievement were categorized in the high category, 3) had a positive correlation with a coefficient correlation value of 0,952 (there is a high relationship between variables), and R square of 0,907, and, 4) the linear formula equation is y = -24,922 + 1,223X.
