Abstract

Legal literacy on land rights remains important for rural communities because land has economic, social, and family value. Many land disputes begin from weak administrative awareness, unclear boundaries, informal transfers, inheritance issues, and limited knowledge of land registration procedures. This community service article describes legal counseling on land rights and prevention of land disputes for rural communities. The activity was designed as participatory legal education in Desa/Kelurahan Siaro, Kecamatan Siborongborong, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara. The method consisted of preliminary coordination, preparation of legal counseling materials, delivery of key concepts, case-based discussion, question and answer session, and qualitative evaluation of participants responses. The counseling materials covered types of land rights, land registration, certificates as strong evidence, prudent land transactions, inheritance-related land problems, and peaceful dispute settlement. The results show that legal counseling helped participants understand the difference between physical control and legally recognized evidence of rights. Participants also became more aware of the need to check documents, clarify boundaries, involve rightful family members, and use deliberation or mediation before disputes escalate. The activity confirms that community-based legal education can strengthen preventive legal culture in rural land administration.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to enhance public understanding and awareness of the concept of ulama from the Qur'anic perspective and to strengthen its implementation in the development of Islamic education and character education. The program was carried out using a participatory educational approach that included lectures, interactive discussions, the study of Qur'anic verses concerning ulama, and mentoring sessions to help participants identify the values of leadership, integrity, and scholarly responsibility that can be applied in daily life and educational practices. The program materials focused on the concept of ulama based on Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara (26):197 and Surah Fatir (35):28, along with relevant hadiths, and their implications for the development of educators, learners, and the wider community. The results of the program indicate an improvement in participants' understanding of the characteristics of ulama as described in the Qur'an, namely individuals who possess sound knowledge, piety, integrity, and a strong commitment to conveying the truth responsibly. Furthermore, participants gained greater awareness of the importance of integrating Qur'anic values into educational practices through character development, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning. This program contributes to strengthening Islamic literacy within the community while encouraging the implementation of the values exemplified by ulama in the development of Islamic education that emphasizes character formation and moral development in both educational institutions and society.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students’ understanding and practical skills in performing ablution (wudhu) according to the Sunnah through a practical fiqh education approach. The background of this program is based on the existing gap between students’ theoretical knowledge and their actual practice of worship, particularly in performing ablution, which is a prerequisite for valid prayer. The activity was conducted at SMP Negeri 35 Medan, involving approximately 35 students as participants. The method employed an educative-participatory approach, including interactive lectures, demonstrations, simulations, hands-on practice, and intensive mentoring. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The average score of students’ understanding increased from a moderate level in the pre-test to a high level in the post-test. Furthermore, approximately 85% of the students were able to correctly perform ablution according to the Sunnah after participating in the program. In terms of affective outcomes, students showed increased awareness and motivation to improve the quality of their worship practices. This activity also demonstrates that applicative and participatory learning methods are more effective than conventional approaches in teaching fiqh. Therefore, this practical fiqh education program can serve as an innovative learning model to enhance the quality of religious education in schools. Future efforts should focus on integrating similar programs into regular school activities to ensure sustainable impact.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the community's Islamic literacy through education on the characteristics of the Arabic language during the period of the Quran's revelation and its contribution to the development of Islamic civilization. The program was designed to enhance participants' understanding of the historical development of the Arabic language, the linguistic uniqueness of the Quran, and the importance of Arabic in understanding Islamic teachings. The PKM employed an educational approach consisting of lectures, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and the distribution of learning materials. The implementation demonstrated that participants' knowledge and awareness of the significance of the Arabic language in Islamic scholarship improved considerably. Participants also gained a better understanding of how the Quran transformed Arabic into the language of revelation, scholarship, and civilization, while introducing the foundations of linguistic sciences such as nahwu, sarf, balaghah, and tafsir lughawi. The program concludes that community-based educational activities can effectively improve Islamic literacy and encourage greater appreciation of the Arabic language as an essential medium for understanding the Quran and preserving the continuity of the Islamic intellectual heritage.

Abstract

Limited public understanding of the rise and decline of the three major Islamic empires—the Ottoman Empire, the Safavid Empire, and the Mughal Empire—has resulted in the educational, leadership, and civilizational values embedded in their histories not being optimally utilized as learning resources. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aimed to enhance participants' literacy on Islamic civilization and strengthen their understanding of the factors contributing to the rise and decline of these three empires as valuable lessons for contemporary Islamic education and society. The program was implemented through educational sessions, interactive lectures, group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and participant evaluations. The target participants included community members, teachers, and students interested in the study of Islamic history. The results of the program demonstrated an improvement in participants' understanding of the historical development of the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal Empires, the factors influencing their growth and decline, and the relevance of these historical experiences to strengthening leadership values, character development, the advancement of knowledge, and lifelong learning. Participants also showed high enthusiasm throughout the activities and were able to relate historical lessons to the contemporary challenges of Islamic education. This Community Partnership Program contributed to improving Islamic historical literacy and encouraged the use of Islamic civilization history as a medium for character building and strengthening Islamic insight through contextual and value-based learning.

Abstract

Quranic literacy strengthening in non-formal community settings represents a critical yet underexplored domain in Islamic education. This community service program aimed to strengthen Quranic literacy and Islamic character formation at Rumah Peradaban Spirit Nabawiyah Community Fannaz through a participatory community-based approach. Implemented over three months with 28 active participants aged 4-15 years, the program comprised four main interventions: structured Quran recitation, Islamic book literacy (Readathon Islami), prophetic storytelling (kisah Nabi), and community manager mentoring. Results showed significant improvements across all indicators. Consistent recitation (?5 times/week) rose from 32% to 82% of participants. Active participation in Islamic book discussions increased from 45% to 89%, and independent book borrowing grew from near-zero to 71%. Prophetic storytelling with a three-phase pedagogical design (opening-narrative-reflection) led to 91% of participants identifying Islamic character values, and 78% connecting them to real-life situations. The program also produced a community literacy guide as an institutional asset for sustainability. These findings confirm that structured, methodological, community-empowerment-centered approaches can effectively transform incidental religious practice into sustainable Quranic literacy movements in non-formal Islamic education.
