Abstract

Jackfruit leaf extract was developed into a lotion preparation to increase skin moisture and prevent the skin from being exposed to free radicals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in stearic acid base on physical quality, differences in antioxidant activity in jackfruit leaf extract and preparations, best formula that can provide antioxidant activity. Jackfruit leaf extract was obtained by maceration using 70% ethanol and then formulated with a concentration of 6% jackfruit leaf extract and variations in stearic acid base 2%, 3%, and 4%. This study used the DPPH method to determine antioxidant activity and ANOVA for statistical analysis. This study obtained the IC50 value of jackfruit leaf extract of 64.5616 ppm. The IC50 value of jackfruit leaf extract and lotion was different due to the presence of additional ingredients in the lotion. The best formula from this research, formula has the best physical quality value, with the IC50 value of the extract in the formula 70.6862 ppm and the IC50 value of the base in the formula 1179.3357 ppm.

Abstract

Nifedipine is a drug with a small solubility in water, a consequence, in order to obtain the desired drug release, the solubility of nifedipine should be increased by the addition of PVPK-30.This study was aimed to know the effect of HPMC K15M, PVP K-30 on the release of nifedipin, and Avicel PH 102 on the floating lag time of nifedipine floating tablet, and to find out the proportion of each ingredient to produce the optimum formula of nifedipin floating tablet. The study was conducted using Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) with 3 components i.e. HPMC K15M, PVPK-30 andAvicel PH 102 in order to obtain 14 formulas. The optimization parameter consists of absorption tablet, floating lagtime, C360 and DE360. The four parameters were analyzed using Design Expert7.1.3 software to determine the optimum formula. The optimum formula was obtained by determining the desired target for each parameter. The absorption was selected in maximum target, floating lag time was selected in minimum target, C360 targeted at number 54 and DE360 targeted at number 40. HPMC K15M at the highest concentration affected the smallest release of nifedipin, the highest PVP K-30 concentration affected the most of nifedipin release, where as high concentration Avicel PH 102 had a small affected reduce in floating lag time of nifedipin floating tablet. The composition of the optimum formula is as follows: 80mg HPMC K15M, 97mg PVPK-30 and 45mg Avicel PH 102. The results of tablet absorption, C360 and DE360 did not differ significantly; floating lag time gave significantly different results to obtain from software. The release kinetics of all formulas fit order 1, which indicated that the drug release occurred through a diffusion mechanism.

Abstract

Neutropenia is a common toxicity in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy myelotoxic as lymphoma result. Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) is clinically recommended for neutropenia. Filgrastim is a generic name of the brand G - CSF products circulating in Indonesia such as Filgrastim brand A and brand B produced by a different manufacturer. The differences Filgrastim brand A and brand B produced by non-factory is that Filgrastim A product’s price is cheaper than brand B. Comparison of the effectiveness of Filgrastim brand A and brand B in patients at DR.Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta need to be examined to evaluate the effectiveness of the type of drugs has been clinically used. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Filgrastim A and B on the use of daily clinical practice at RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. The design of this study is analytic retrospective cohort study that is applied for patients receiving chemotherapy in cancer Installation Tulip Hospital Dr. Sardjito. Data was retrieved from medical records the period January 2013 to March 2015. Comparison of the effectiveness of filgrastim uses the parameter of time to reach the Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) recovery. Data of characteristics subjects were analyzed by using chi square Goodness of Fit for categorical data and independent t test for numerical data. The comparison of effectiveness of filgrastim was analyzed by using survival analysis. A total of the study showed that there were 80 subjects which consists of 192 episodes of neutropenia incidence of filgrastim therapy. From 80 subjects, there were 43 subjects ( 53,5 % ) which consist of 72 episodes of neutropenic (33 episodes with filgrastim brand A and 39 episodes with filgrastim brand B) that met the inclusion criteria. The result of the comparison of filgrastim effectiveness based on time to ANC recovery, according to the bivariate Kaplan-Meier with the laboratory observation data 24 hours post last injections, it shows that Filgrastim brand A has a median recovery time faster than Filgrastim brand B (1,00 vs 2,00 p< 0,05). The conclusions of this study , in the ANC recovery time, Filgrastim brand A more effective than Filgrastim brand B.

Abstract

Cancer is a growing cells of any type of cell and tissue in the body anywhere, a large number of diseases are characterized by tissue and cell type of origin . Each year found nearly 6 million new patients known to have cancer, and more than 4 million of them died. Until now cancer treatment is done by 3 ways: surgery, radiation, and drug delivery of anti -neoplastic or anti- cancer. The treatments is good however over a lot of side effects to the patient. This study aims to conduct a series of pre-clinical trials to determine the optimal dose of Myrmecodia pendens can be used as a drug to cure lung cancer .The specific objective of this research is to extract Myrmecodia pendens Plant to produce drugs alternative cancer disease. Benefits of this research can be used directly by the public to be used as an herbal medicine, to treat cancer Testing is done by creating a model of lung cancer cells from rats induced with 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) as much as 10 times along 5 weeks. Therapy is done by adding 250mg/kgW, 500 mg/kgW and 750 kg/KgW extracts Based on the Histopathology test showed that Myrmecodia Pendans extract dose of 750 mg / kg body weight can improve lung tissue damaged by exposure to DMBA.

Abstract

Afrodisiaka adalah suatu bahan organik, minyak esensial (minyak atsiri), obat, minuman herbal atau bahan yang dapat membangkitkan gairah seksual. Penelitian ini menggunakan jus buah nanas madu (Ananas comosus L.Mer). Parameter yang akan dilihat yaitu pengaruh berat badan dan kemampuan daya aprodisiaka meliputi introduction, climbing, dan coitus. Hewan uji terbagi dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok I normal, kelompok II diberikan jamu pasak bumi®, kelompok III diberikan jus buah nanas 30g/KgBB mencit, kelompok IVdiberikan jus buah nanas 45g/KgBB mencit, dan kelompok V diberikan jus buah nanas 67,5g/KgBB mencit. Pemberian dilakukan selama 14 hari secara per oral dengan frekuensi pemberian sehari satu kali pada control positif dan pada kelompok pemberian jus sebanyak dua kali sehari. Pada hari ke-15 dilakukan pengamatan terhadap berat badan, berat testis dan aktifitas aprodisiak meliputi introduction, climbing, dan coitus. Berdasar hasil statistic dosis efektif jus buah nanas madu adalah 45g/KgBB dan tidak terdapat hubungan antara berat badan dan kemampuan aprodisiaka.

Abstract

Zat pemanis ini merupakan suatu senyawa yang secara sengaja ditambahkan dan digunakan untuk meningkatkan cita rasa dan aroma, memperbaiki sifat-sifat fisik, sebagai pegawet, memperbaiki sifat-sifat kimia dan sumber kalori bagi tubuh. Zat pemanis ada dua jenis yaitu pemanis alami dan pemanis buatan. Produsen minuman dan pangan seperti produsen bubble drink lebih memilih untuk menggunakan pemanis buatan dibandingkan pemanis alami karena harga lebih murah dan tingkat kemanisan pemanis buatan lebih tinggi dibandingkan pemanis alami. Pemanis buatan seperti sakarin dan siklamat jika dikonsumsi secara berlebih dapat memicu terjadinya gangguan kesehatan seperti penyakit saraf, hipertensi, dan kanker otak.Jenis penelitian adalah  ekperimental dengan purposive sampling. 25 sampel diperoleh dari penjual bubble drink yang berada di 5 kecamatan yang dijual di kota Surakarta. Tempat penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Kimia STIKES Nasional. Uji kualitatif yang digunakan menggunakan rapid test kit sakarin dan siklamat. Hasil uji kualitatif pada 25 sampel menggunakan rapid test kit menunjukkkan hasil negatif,  tidak ditemukan adanya pemanis sakarin dan siklamat.

Abstract

Parijoto (Medinilla speciosa) has a wide range of pharmacological activities due to its secondary metabolite content, especially flavonoid and phenolic compounds. Flavonoid and phenolic compounds have a major role in human health with their activities as antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, antimicrobials, and etc. The aim of this study was to determine the total levels of phenolic and flavonoid compounds from the ethanol extract of Parijoto fruit. Parijoto fruit is obtained from Bandungan, Semarang Regency, Central Java. Extraction was carried out by maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent then concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The amount of total phenolic and total flavonoid content was determined using colorimetric method with Folin-ciocalteau complex reagent on phenolic with gallic acid as reference standard and AlCl3 complex reagent on flavonoids with quercetin as reference standard. Absorbance was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the color of viscous extract of Parijoto fruit was dark brown with a yield of 6.67% w/w. The total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of Parijoto fruit was 21.67 µgGAE/g extract and the total flavonoid content was 9.21 µg QE/g extract.

Abstract

Di Indonesia penyakit kulit dan kuku karena infeksi jamur masih sering dijumpai, terutama karena udara yang lembab dan panas, tingkat kesehatan yang kurang dan sanitasi lingkungan yang buruk. Penyakit tersebut di antaranya disebabkan oleh Candida albicans  dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Di sisi lain beberapa tanaman yang berasal dari suku Zingiberaceae, antara lain tanaman temu ireng, kunyit, temu giring dan temu lawak telah dibuktikan mempunyai aktivitas antijamur oleh peneliti terdahulu. Temu kunci merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berasal dari suku Zingberaceae, untuk itu telah dilakukan penelitian aktivitas fraksi etanol rimpang temu kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata (Roxb.) Schlecht) terhadap jamur Candida albicans dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Uji aktivitas antijamur dilakukan dengan metode dilusi padat.  Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa KBM fraksi etanol temu kunci terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes  adalah sama yaitu 4%. Uji Kromatografi Lapis Tipis untuk meneliti kandungan senyawa dalam tanaman menggunakan fase gerak etil asetat : petroletum benzena (9:11) dengan pereaksi semprot vanilin-asam sulfat dan fase gerak etil asetat:metanol:air (100:13,5:10) dengan pereaksi semprot sitroborat dan uap NH3. Profil kromatrogram fraksi etanol temu kunci menunjukkan bahwa fraksi etanol temu kunci mengandung senyawa golongan terpenoid dan flavonoid.

Abstract

The existence of organic and inorganic materials which come from river, food waste, fish metabolism waste, and aquatic macrophyte decomposed waste could become the source of nutrient. One of organism which life in Rawa Pening Ambarawa is plankton that can be used to evaluate community stability on waters by investigate it diversity and abundance. The research to know the diversity and abundance of waters plankton at Rawa Pening, Ambarawa, Central Java has been conducted from July to September 2006. The research site used a survey the sample were taken and the sampling sites were divided into 3 zones (inlet, middle, and outlet zones), with 3 stations on each zone. The parameters were the number of species and individual. The supporting parameters were water physical chemistry of Rawa Pening. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and 50% rules. Result of research showed that the diversity of plankton which found in inlet zone counted as 30 genera with plankton abundance 2,227 ind/l, in middle zone counted as 31 genera with plankton abundance 2,753 ind/l, and in outlet zone counted as 29 genera with plankton abundance 1,215 ind/l. Based on the result, the diversity and abundance of plankton in inlet, middle, and outlet zones is spread evenly.

Abstract

Flavonoids is one active compounds in the Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. leaves for antioxidant, inhibiting of cancer cells, and maintaining liver function. Flavonoid is thermolabile compound and need proper post harvest handling. The purpose of this study is to the determine effect of drying method on the quality of extract and total flavonoids content in ethanolic extract of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. leaves. This type of research is experimental. Drying methods used in this research are by wind drying under shade place from direct sunlight and oven drying in 40o C temperature. Analysis of total flavonoids content using colorimetric method with AlCl3 complexing compounds and quercetin standard. Standard calibration curve was made 5 series concentrations of 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 ppm. The absorbance was read at 434 nm wavelength of Uv Vis spectrophotometer. Data obtained in the form of lower levels of flavonoids are analyzed statistically with a pair of independent sample t -test. The results showed if drying methods make a significant different of quality extract and total flavonoids content ethanolic extract of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr leaves. Total flavonoids content with wind drying method is 2.15 ± 0.03% w/w and total flavonoid content with 40oC oven drying method is 1.87 ± 0.01% w/w. The total flavonoid content is counted as quercetin.
