Abstract

The digital era, especially through platforms like TikTok, has transformed the landscape of public discourse among Indonesia's youth. This research investigates the mechanisms of polarization in the viral socio-cultural trend 'Kabur Aja Dulu' on TikTok, aiming to uncover how algorithmic echo chambers are formed and their impact on digital civic engagement. Utilizing a convergent mixed-methods design, this study combines quantitative analysis of 60 TikTok videos (30 Pro, 30 Contra) with qualitative discourse analysis. The quantitative analysis uses MANOVA to compare user engagement profiles (likes, comments, shares), while the qualitative analysis examines the framing strategies of both sides. Statistical results show that Pro sentiment content significantly achieves higher engagement levels across all metrics (Pillai's Trace = 0.373, p < 0.001) compared to Contra content. Qualitative findings reveal that the Pro camp successfully utilized emotional and aspirational framing (healing, self-care), which resonates more with TikTok's algorithm logic. Conversely, the Contra camp employed normative-critical framing (nationalism, privilege) which is less effective in triggering engagement. It is concluded that polarization is reinforced by algorithmic curation that amplifies affirmative discourse and validates emotions, thus pushing the shift in digital civic practices towards a more therapeutic and individualistic direction, while hindering deliberative public dialogue

Abstract

Teachers' personal-social competence is often undervalued compared to pedagogical and professional skills, yet it critically impacts student engagement and character development. This qualitative study examines how Civic Education (PPKn) teachers' personal-social competence influences nationalist character formation among junior high school students in Papua's multicultural context. Six PPKn teachers from Abepura District participated as key informants through in-depth interviews. Four key findings emerged: teachers face challenges integrating Papuan cultural narratives with national identity; multiple factors influence nationalism development; personal-social competence varies significantly among teachers; and teacher-student relationships are crucial for character building. Results demonstrate that teachers with strong cultural knowledge, engaging pedagogical approaches, positive interpersonal skills, and authentic role modeling significantly enhance students' nationalist character development. This study contributes to understanding how teacher competencies can bridge local cultural identity with national citizenship in diverse educational contexts

Abstract

This study examined the effects of the guided inquiry learning model and learning motivation on Pancasila Education outcomes among 11th-grade students at SMA Bhakti Mandala Nabire (n = 47). Using a quasi-experimental method with a 2×2 factorial design, the research employed validated and reliable instruments to collect data on learning outcomes and motivation. The two-way ANOVA results revealed significant main effects of both the learning model and motivation, while their interaction was not statistically significant. Descriptively, students with high motivation taught using the guided inquiry model achieved the best results. These findings suggest that teachers should adopt the guided inquiry approach to enhance student engagement and improve academic performance in Pancasila Education

The role of two youth organizations, the Ansor Youth Movement and Muhammadiyah Youth, in implementing national defense and strengthening civic engagement amidst contemporary sociocultural challenges. The urgency of revitalizing national defense is no longer limited to the militarism dimension, but the role of the younger generation in implementing social integration by engaging with the community in the context of national defense. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method in Banten Province. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using data reduction techniques, thematic categorization, and interpretation of meaning. The research findings show that the implementation of youth organizations is realized in cadre education, public advocacy, leadership training based on national values. The intended involvement is to make the local government a partner in implementing national defense activities, then in the engagement approach, the two organizations implement ideology, cadre development, advocacy, economic independence, literacy studies, and go to the community in need. In this implementation, social capital development emerged through the approach developed by the organization. This article recommends strengthening the synergy between youth organizations, government, and educational institutions in building an inclusive, critical, and value-oriented citizenship model

Abstract

This study examines the judicial considerations in granting underage marriage dispensations at the Religious Court of Sumbawa, Indonesia, a region where early marriage persists despite national legal reforms. The research aims to understand how judges interpret the principle of the child's best interest within a socio-religious legal context. Using a qualitative socio-legal approach, data were collected through courtroom observations, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with judges and petitioners. Findings indicate that although the number of applications has declined between 2022 and 2024, the approval rate remains above 95%, reflecting the powerful influence of social pressures, religious morality, and pragmatic reasoning. Judges frequently invoke maslahah (public good), emotional maturity, and family consensus to justify approval, often prioritizing immediate social stability over long-term child welfare. Judicial reasoning tends to be dialogic and compassionate, but procedural inconsistency and the absence of post-decision support compromise the protective aims of the law. The study highlights the role of legal pluralism in shaping judicial discretion, where Islamic and statutory principles coexist and sometimes conflict. It calls for institutionalizing child-centered procedures, standardized psychosocial assessments, and follow-up mechanisms. These findings contribute to the growing body of literature on child marriage, legal reform, and the role of religion in family law adjudication in Southeast Asia

Abstract

Discipline is an important character trait that enables humans to control themselves. However, many individuals still find it difficult to maintain consistent self-control, even though they have tried to be disciplined. The purpose of this study is to determine how to strengthen the character trait of discipline through holistic mentoring: a phenomenological study of clients. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews conducted with four clients who participated in the mentoring program. The analysis was conducted thematically to determine the meaning and importance of the participants' experiences. The results showed that holistic mentoring can improve discipline in three main ways: (1) internalization of values through personal reflection and interactive discussion, (2) increasing intrinsic motivation through spiritual and emotional approaches, and (3) creating behavioral consistency through practice and social support. The results of the study show the characteristics of discipline (a) responsibility for oneself, (b) responsibility for the family, (c) consistency and determination in the process, and (d) the ability to make wise decisions amid pressure, distractions, and the desire to do unproductive things. The results indicate that cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects must be included in comprehensive and contextual coaching through moral guidance.

Abstract

This study investigates whether embedding structured digital citizenship scaffolds within a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) framework is associated with gains in students’ cognitive digital citizenship knowledge in Pancasila Education. Drawing on digital citizenship theory, digital literacy is conceptualized as cognitive knowledge encompassing critical evaluation of online information, understanding of digital ethical norms, and civic digital reasoning. A quasi-experimental design was conducted with 60 eleventh-grade students assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in CIVICs-based PBL activities integrating verification tasks, ethical dilemma simulations, and structured deliberative discussions, while the control group received conventional instruction. Cognitive digital citizenship knowledge was measured using pretest–posttest assessments. Results indicate that students exposed to the CIVICs-based PBL design demonstrated higher gains compared to those in conventional learning, with a normalized gain in the medium–high category. These findings suggest that aligning digital citizenship dimensions with structured PBL activities may contribute to strengthening students’ cognitive understanding of responsible digital participation in this context. The results of the study show that the CIVICs media received a “very feasible” rating from media experts with a score of 92.5% and from content experts with a score of 90%. Students’ responses to the use of the media were also highly positive, with an average of 87.1%, particularly in the aspect of digital literacy development, which reached 93.3%. The effectiveness test revealed a significant increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class, with an average post-test score of 85.67, higher than the control class, which scored 67.3. In addition, the CIVICs media was rated highly practical with an average score of 88.8%, covering aspects of accessibility, flexibility, and technical support. Students’ digital literacy scores increased from 62.4 in the pretest to 85.67 in the posttest, with a normalized gain value of 0.619, which falls into the medium–high category. These findings indicate that CIVICs media has a positive impact on improving digital literacy as well as the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Pancasila education.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought new challenges in education, especially regarding the understanding and application of digital media ethics by students in elementary school. The implementation of 21st-century learning, which currently emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, character, and citizenship (6C) skills, is an effective strategy for instilling digital media ethics from an early age. This article examines a game-based learning model integrated into learning to shape responsible attitudes in the digital interactions of elementary school students. The research method used is a literature study from various journals discussing the ethical use of digital media in the implementation of 21st-century learning in elementary schools. The results of the analysis show that learning with a play-based approach and interactive simulations can increase students' awareness of the social impact of digital media and strengthen ethical digital literacy skills. In addition, the role of teachers as facilitators and the involvement of parents in digital supervision have proven to be significant in the successful implementation of this program. These findings are in line with previous studies that highlight the importance of integrating 21st- century learning in basic education to build the digital character of smart and responsible students. The contribution of this article lies in presenting a practical and contextual approach to developing digital media ethics through learning that combines play and social responsibility in elementary schools.
