Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the success of the influence of social media use on the active participation of young voters in the 2024 General Election. The participation of young voters has an essential role in organizing the 2024 Election because they dominate the number of voters. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with data obtained through online questionnaires and literature studies. The data that has been obtained is simplified by removing unnecessary data to facilitate drawing conclusions. From the results of the research, it is known that social media has an important role as a campaign tool to reach young voters. Social media is considered more effective and efficient as a campaign tool compared to conventional methods when viewed from various aspects. Through social media, campaign activities can reach the public at large and can also be utilized as a discussion space that can be accessed by everyone. The freedom to access social media allows for false information (hoaxes) or divisive opinions to emerge. This becomes an arena for the community to be able to think critically in choosing which information to accept and which not. However, the results show that social media still has a big impact on increasing the number of young voters. Another impact is that young voters show their attitude towards their choices and also participate in monitoring the continuity of the 2024 Election

Abstract

Radicalism is an ideology that demands drastic change, even violence, and in the context of religion, it is often manifested through intolerance and exclusivity. This research aims to examine the representation of radicalism in the series of Heresy, its relevance to the divine values of Pancasila and its implications for students. The method used is qualitative descriptive with content analysis, through non-participatory observation, literature review, and interviews. The results of the study show that radicalism is represented through narratives, dialogues, and visuals that depict the indoctrination and legitimacy of violence in the name of religion. The divine values of Pancasila function as a counter-narrative, emphasizing tolerance, moderation, and respect for diversity. Interviews with students reveal a critical awareness of the dangers of radicalism, although some consider the representation in the series to be stereotypical. These findings emphasize the importance of media literacy and religious literacy as civic education strategies to fight radicalism and strengthen students' national character

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of Wordwall media in the Discovery Learning model in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects and analyze its contribution in shaping the Pancasila Student Profile. The Discovery Learning model was chosen because it can encourage students to actively discover concepts independently, while Wordwall is used as an interactive medium to support this process. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the integration of Wordwall in each stage of Discovery Learning can improve learning activities and shape student character, especially in the dimensions of critical thinking, mutual cooperation, and independence. This media also strengthens student learning interest and creates a fun and meaningful learning atmosphere. Thus, the strategic use of Wordwall in IPAS learning has the potential to be an effective tool to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and strengthen the values of the Pancasila Student Profile

Abstract

Prime Minister Sutan Sjahrir's political policies promoted progressive social democratic values. The concept of social democracy is not merely a mechanical combination of socialism and democracy. Instead, it views the two as two sides of the same coin that complement and reinforce each other. This research examines Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas, which are analyzed using Jürgen Habermas's political philosophy theory. The aim is to identify the socio-democratic ideas promoted by Sutan Sjahrir, which will be reviewed from the perspective of Jürgen Habermas's political philosophy. This study employs a literature review method, which is analyzed using content analysis. This method is used to collect and analyze the content of a text, including elements such as words, image meanings, symbols, ideas, themes, and various forms of messages that can be conveyed. The results of this research show (1) Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas regarding the separation of powers, social democracy, true independence, equality, and social justice. (2) Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas on the separation of powers, social democracy, true independence, equality, and social justice are relevant to Habermas' ideas on the public sphere and deliberative democracy, which emphasize active citizen participation in political decision-making

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the nature, process, outcomes, obstacles, and mitigation of social control over homosexual gay behavior among adolescents in Pontianak City. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with two gay adolescents, participatory observation, and documentation of policies and media reports. The data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and verification using source and time triangulation. The findings indicate that social control in Pontianak is still dominated by preventive approaches, which are not yet effectively integrated and are mostly limited to reproductive health education by specific institutions. Curative approaches through community-based rehabilitation also face constraints related to limited resources and high levels of social stigma. Persuasive control is primarily carried out by families and communities through methods such as reprimands, moral advice, and religious approaches, which often result in psychological pressure for adolescents. The main barriers to effective social control include the absence of specific regulations, weak coordination among agencies, and resistance from both the public and the LGBT community. Proposed mitigation strategies include strengthening the role of families as primary supervisors, fostering collaboration among schools, communities, formal institutions, and law enforcement, with an emphasis on educational and humanistic approaches. Community-based rehabilitation models that have proven effective in other countries are recommended for adaptation, alongside religious and traditional moral value-based approaches to strengthen adolescents"™ character and awareness. In conclusion, social control of homosexual gay behavior in Pontianak City requires a more inclusive, consistent, and structured multisectoral synergy that addresses the psychosocial and emotional aspects of adolescence in order to foster a supportive and harmonious environment for the moral development of the younger generation in line with local social and cultural norms.

Abstract

TikTok, as a short-video-based social media platform, has become an important space for the dissemination of political issues among university students. This study aims to explore the patterns of political issue dissemination through TikTok and its influence on the political attitudes of students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, six informants were selected through purposive sampling and interviewed semi-structurally, with data analyzed using Braun and Clarke"™s thematic analysis method. The findings reveal that the For You Page algorithm reinforces exposure to specific issues, shapes students"™ political agenda, enhances political awareness and engagement, but also generates risks of polarization, confirmation bias, and disinformation. This study concludes that TikTok plays a dual role as a medium of informal political education and, at the same time, a platform vulnerable to algorithmic filter bubble effects

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of civics teachers regarding the implications of nationalism in efforts to preserve traditional dance in schools. A qualitative approach was used with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with civics teachers in several schools in Samarinda City. The results of the study show that teachers interpret nationalism not only as a sense of love for the homeland, but also as concrete actions that reflect concern for local culture, such as through participation in traditional dance activities. Teachers consider the preservation of traditional dance to be an effective means of instilling national values in students, especially when it is contextually linked to everyday life. However, a major challenge comes from the dominance of foreign popular culture, which is more appealing to students, as well as the lack of structural support in the form of policies or incentives from schools and the government. Teachers implement various innovative strategies, such as project-based learning, the use of digital media, and direct involvement in traditional dance preservation activities, to maintain the sustainability of nationalism amid globalization. This study recommends the need for synergy between schools, families, and the government in strengthening character education so that the younger generation does not become alienated from their cultural identity. The preservation of traditional dance in schools, if supported systematically, can be a strategic vehicle for strengthening the character and identity of the nation

Abstract

This study is motivated by the rapid development of information technology, which significantly influences the civic character of the younger generation, particularly through social media. Kolaka Regency, with a total of 12,276 senior high school students or their equivalents, serves as a strategic location to examine the impact of social media on civic consciousness in the context of democracy. The research questions focus on the characteristics of students' social media usage, its influence on democratic awareness, the challenges faced, and applicable digital literacy strategies. This research uses a survey method with a quantitative approach. The findings reveal that the majority of students do not yet understand democracy as part of civic education through social media. Internal factors, such as a narrow understanding of citizenship and the limited role of family and social environment, along with external factors like the lack of outreach from local governments and electoral institutions, constitute major challenges. As a solution, structured and collaborative digital literacy strategies are needed, involving the government, academics, and electoral institutions to provide relevant educational content and foster critical and participatory civic awareness. Thus, social media can be optimized as a tool to strengthen democratic values among the younger generation toward the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045

Abstract

Democracy, as a system of government based on popular sovereignty, places freedom of expression as a fundamental right of every citizen. One tangible manifestation of this right is demonstrations, which serve as an essential means of channeling public aspirations toward government policies. This study aims to analyze the role of demonstrations as an essential element in strengthening Indonesia"™s democratic system. The research employs a normative juridical method with a legal-philosophical and literature-based approach. The findings indicate that demonstrations play a strategic role in balancing the relationship between state authority and public participation while reinforcing democratic legitimacy. However, demonstrations often create tension between freedom of expression and public order, necessitating proportional legal regulations grounded in substantive justice. Drawing on the theories of John Stuart Mill, John Locke, and Gustav Radbruch, demonstrations should ideally be conducted peacefully, rationally, and responsibly to maintain harmony between citizens"™ rights and the public interest. Therefore, demonstrations must be regarded not as a threat but as a vital pillar of constitutional democracy in Indonesia
