Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing influence of social media X in shaping students' civic participation patterns in the digital democracy era. The main problem lies in how students understand the meaning of civic participation, the forms of digital participation they engage in and their perceptions of digital ethics in such involvement. The purpose of this research is to analyze in depth students' understanding, participation practices, and ethical considerations in using X as a digital public sphere. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, digital observation, and documentation of online content. The findings reveal that students perceive civic participation not only as formal involvement such as elections, but also through discussions, critiques, and digital campaigns. The forms of participation vary from passive actions such as likes and retweets to more creative expressions such as threads, infographics, and hashtag campaigns. Nevertheless, these practices face challenges such as slacktivism, polarization, and regulatory risks associated with Indonesia's ITE Law. These findings highlight the urgent need to strengthen critical digital literacy, foster ethical media practices, and internalize democratic values in civic education, ensuring that students are not only digitally active but also capable of substantive, ethical, and responsible participation in digital democracy

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to dismantle the implementation of the recruitment and selection policy for the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibra) from the perspective of Pancasila character education. The research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. Primary data were obtained from official documentation of the implementation of Paskibra recruitment in 514 Indonesian regencies/cities. Secondary data were obtained from laws and regulations, technical instructions, activity reports, and reputable scientific publications relevant to youth policy, character education and Pancasila ideology. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman interactive model consisting of three stages: i) data reduction; ii) data presentation; and iii) conclusions. The validity of the findings used triangulation of sources and techniques, as well as repeated verification to ensure consistency of interpretation. The results of the study reveal a dilemma between maintaining national standards (height, age, and passing the Pancasila Ideology Education test) and equal opportunities across all regions. The main challenges include: i) budget limitations; ii) demographic equality; iii) unequal digital infrastructure; iv) weaknesses of the Paskibraka Transparency Application. The research findings yielded strategies including: i) evaluating discretionary policies; ii) strengthening digital infrastructure; iii) increasing the capacity of regional managers; iv) integrating Pancasila character education from the pre-selection stage in schools. Thus, the Flag Raising Team (Paskibraka) can become a strategic vehicle for training future national leaders with integrity, discipline, and a national spirit

Abstract

The Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 (MPAC 2025) offers ASEAN member states a framework to enhance regional integration via infrastructure, digital innovation, and institutional collaboration. This framework enables Indonesia to leverage connectivity as a geopolitical tool instead of being a passive participant in regional initiatives. This study analyzes Indonesia's utilization of its connectivity agenda to influence ASEAN norms and enhance its regional position, employing geopolitical theory, specifically Rimland Theory, and the notion of soft balancing to assess how geography and infrastructure collaboration bolster strategic autonomy in the context of competition among major powers, including China, Japan, and the United States. The results emphasize initiatives like the Sea Toll Road, the enhancement of Sorong Port, and infrastructure cooperation with ADB and JICA, which not only strengthen domestic integration but also position Indonesia as a norm entrepreneur within ASEAN's regional framework. Indonesia"™s connectivity strategy signifies a transformation in its geopolitical stance, wherein connectivity transcends mere developmental objectives to become a platform for strategic diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific, illustrating Indonesia"™s evolution from an object to a subject in regional geopolitics

Abstract

This study maps the risk of interethnic conflict in Manokwari Regency by focusing on the historical context of conflicts, ethnic distribution, and the understanding of multicultural politeness. A mixed-methods approach was employed through surveys conducted in nine districts and interviews with key informants. Quantitative data were processed using weighted mean scores to produce composite indices per district, categorized into low, medium, and high-risk levels. Findings reveal three clusters: high-risk (West Manokwari, Masni, and North Manokwari), medium-risk (Warmare, South Manokwari, and Prafi), and low-risk (East Manokwari, Tanah Rubuh, and Sidey). Key driving factors include historical legacies of conflict, spatial polarization, and weak interethnic communication. Policy implications emphasize strengthening cross-cultural interaction, designing inclusive public spaces, and providing multicultural communication ethics training for conflict prevention.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of Indonesia's west-east maritime axis through the synergy between the Sabang Strategic Area and the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in supporting the development of the blue economy. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia faces the challenge of inter-island connectivity as well as a great opportunity to strengthen maritime sovereignty and national economic equity. The position of Sabang as the western gateway and the IKN in East Kalimantan as the center of the new government in the middle of the archipelago provides strategic potential in forming an integrative and sustainable maritime axis. The study method uses a state law approach by examining decentralization policies, institutional strengthening, and optimization of maritime law and regional autonomy. The analysis shows that the Sabang-IKN synergy is able to strengthen the state's role in integrating regions, improving sea connectivity, and supporting the development of a fair and sustainable blue economy. This synergy also emphasizes Indonesia's vision as the world's maritime axis through the management of marine resources that is in favor of the welfare of the people. In conclusion, the strategic collaboration between Sabang and IKN is an important instrument to realize maritime sovereignty, equitable development, and regional justice in accordance with the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. Policies that prioritize strengthening national connectivity, protecting maritime law, and regional empowerment are key in the implementation of strengthening the west-east maritime axis as a pillar of the constitution-based blue economy

Abstract

Publications on character education have become increasingly prevalent over the last ten years. However, there aren't many studies on the relationship between local wisdom, social capital, and character education. This article is sourced from research that explores the practice of badingsanakan, which is deeply embedded in the culture of the Banjar community. This paper aims to analyze the values in badingsanakan as a form of social capital that plays a role in character education. Using a qualitative approach to transcendental phenomenology, data was collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The primary data source consisted of eight informants from various age, gender, and professional backgrounds. The results of the analysis revealed five main themes: empathy and solidarity, trust and openness, social responsibility, value learning, and strengthening social and cultural identity. These five elements are constructive social capital in the development of character education. The practice of badingsanakan reflects deeply rooted cultural values in social relations and serves as an authentic and contextually grounded approach to character formation. These findings recommend the integration of fraternal cultural values into character education strategies in both formal and non-formal settings to build a more meaningful and community-based education.

Abstract

The cultivation of Pancasila values from a young age is a very important basis for building the character of Indonesia's younger generation. This study aims to examine how the game of soccer can serve as an integrative medium in learning Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) at the elementary school level. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation of activities that integrate soccer activities with Civics materials. The research findings revealed that the dynamics in soccer games, such as team collaboration, sportsmanship, adherence to rules, and respect between players, naturally reflect the values of Pancasila, especially the 2nd (humanity), 3rd (unity), and 5th (social justice) precepts. Teachers play an important role in helping students reflect on their playing experiences and relate them to the application of Pancasila values in daily life. In conclusion, integrating soccer games in Civics lessons can be a relevant, fun, and effective teaching method to instill noble Pancasila values in students in elementary schools

Abstract

Although legal literacy plays a crucial role in Citizenship Education, legal content often remains abstract and difficult for students to comprehend. This study aims to examine students"™ perceptions of the use of the "Nomoi" board game as a medium for legal literacy learning. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed involving 83 students from a private senior high school in Bandung. The research instrument consisted of a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency analysis through SPSS version 27 to identify the dominant trends in students"™ perceptions. The results indicate that most students hold positive perceptions of Nomoi, particularly in terms of engagement, content understanding, and legal awareness. These findings suggest that Nomoi is not merely an educational game but serves as a component of critical citizenship pedagogy that fosters students"™ reflective legal consciousness. As a serious game, Nomoi supports the development of active, collaborative, and meaningful learning. It can be concluded that the integration of a law-based board game into Citizenship Education has significant potential to enhance students"™ legal literacy.
