Abstract

Introduction Mild anemia in pregnant women with Hb ≥11 Gr/dl The impact of mild anemia can be moderate to severe anemia in pregnancy, can be fatal if not immediately addressed such as causing miscarriage, premature labor, uterine inertia, prolonged labor, uterine atony, and bleeding and shock. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that globally the prevalence of pregnant women who experience anemia is 83.2% while in Southeast Asia the prevalence is 97.8%. This shows that the prevalence of anemia in Southeast Asia exceeds the global prevalence value. From the data above, it indicates that anemia in pregnant women is one of the important risk factors in health. Research Methods This study aims to implement midwifery care for pregnant women in Mrs. "R" with mild anemia based on midwifery care management. The method applied in this study is using the 7-step Varney analysis. Case Study Results Mrs. "R" With mild anemia for 8 weeks, anamnesis was conducted through interviews by asking about patient complaints, monitoring vital signs, supporting Hb examinations and taking care measures by advising the mother to maintain adequate diet and rest and recommending routine consumption of iron tablets during pregnancy. The conclusion of the case study of Mrs. "R" was a visit at 8 weeks, the results showed that the mother's condition was good, with no dizziness, vital signs within normal limits and Hb within normal limits where previously 9.3 Gr / dl became 11.9 Gr / dl and no potential problems occurred. So in the documentation that has been done on Mrs. "R" there is no theoretical gap.

Abstract

Introduction The Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Book is an important tool in supporting the safety of pregnant women and children through information and recording of health conditions. This study aims to determine the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women towards the use of the KIA Book at the Pangkajene Health Center UPT, Sidenreng Rappang Regency in 2025. Method The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 70 pregnant women respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi- Square Test. The results showed that most pregnant women had good knowledge (81.4%) and positive attitudes (95.7%) towards the use of the KIA Book. However, statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and utilization of the KIA Book ((p = 0.098), while there was a significant relationship between attitude and utilization of the KIA Book (p < 0.001). Conclution:  These results indicate that the attitude of pregnant women has a greater influence on the utilization of the KIA Book than their level of knowledge. Therefore, intervention by health workers, especially midwives, in forming positive attitudes of pregnant women is important to increase the optimal use of the KIA Book. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as evaluation material for health workers and further researchers in efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

Abstract

Introduction: Perineal rupture is an injury to the birth canal that may occur with or without the use of obstetric instruments during childbirth. Factors contributing to perineal rupture include the childbirth process itself, excessive fetal birth weight, improper delivery techniques, perineal rigidity, vacuum extraction, and trauma resulting from perineal incision instruments. In postpartum women, inadequately managed perineal wounds are highly susceptible to infection, which can significantly affect the healing process of the perineal wound. Objective: This study aimed to provide midwifery care to Mrs. “Y” through the administration of betel leaf (Piper betle) decoction therapy to accelerate the healing of perineal suture wounds at the Paccing Primary Health Center, Bone Regency. Methods: This study employed a case study design tailored to the client’s needs and within the scope of midwifery authority, using the seven-step Varney midwifery management approach with documentation in SOAP format. Results: The case study involved Mrs. “Y,” a 28-year-old postpartum woman with a perineal suture wound, who initially complained of pain during movement and discomfort while performing daily activities. After three days of midwifery care, the mother’s general condition was good, consciousness was compos mentis, and vital signs were within normal limits. The mother no longer experienced pain, and the perineal suture wound had healed. Conclusion: The results of the midwifery care provided indicate that betel leaf decoction therapy was effective in accelerating the healing of perineal wounds in Mrs. “Y.”

Abstract

Adolescence is also a transitional age from childhood to adulthood, where at that age many changes are felt by teenagers searching for their identity by following the current trends and lifestyles of the current era. In Indonesia, the prevalence of childhood obesity based on body mass index (BMI/U) and age ratio in children aged 5–12 years increased from 8.8% (Riskesdas, 2013) to 9.2% (Riskesdas, 2018). The prevalence of obesity and overweight among adolescents aged 16 to 18 years also increased from 1.6% to 4.0% and from 5.7% to 9.5%, respectively. Obesity in adolescents is caused by many factors: lack of physical activity, unbalanced diet, excessive intake of macronutrients, frequent consumption of fast food, a history of obesity in parents, and the habit of skipping breakfast. This research paper aims to carry out Midwifery Care Management for Adolescent Ms. "A" with obesity at State Senior High School 10 Gowa from May 5 to June 23, 2025 using Varney's 7-step midwifery care management approach and documentation of the SOAP form. The results obtained by the Adolescent Midwifery Care Management Ms. "A" with obesity, the client complained of difficulty in carrying out activities due to being overweight and also easily tired during activities, and had a habit of eating excessive portions and not exercising. Abstract

Introduction Sectio Caesarea (SC) is a method of delivering a fetus by making an incision in the uterine wall through the anterior abdominal wall. Like surgical procedures in general, SC is not free from various potential risks, one of which is surgical wound infection. Surgical wound infection is one of the major problems in obstetric practice, as it can delay wound healing and thereby increase morbidity rates. Method Sample in this study was selected using a purposive sampling method, based on specific criteria determined by the researchers by considering the characteristics or attributes of the population.  Result The statistical analysis showed that age had a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), nutritional status p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), anemia p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), parity p-value of 0.010 (p < 0.05), diabetes mellitus p-value of 0.047 (p < 0.05), immunosuppression p-value of 0.047 (p < 0.05), and hypothermia p-value of 1.000 (p>0.05).Conclusion: Based on the statistical test results, it can be concluded that there is a significant association between age, nutritional status, anemia, parity, immunosuppression, and diabetes mellitus with post–cesarean section (SC) surgical wound infection. Meanwhile, no significant association was found between hypothermia and post-SC surgical wound infection. Based on the p-values, age, nutritional status, and anemia were the most influential risk factors for surgical wound infection after cesarean section. By understanding the main risk factors, healthcare providers can implement earlier interventions in high-risk patients to reduce the incidence of post-SC surgical wound infections.

Abstract

Introduction Lack of sleep was considered one of the main sources of disease burden in low- and middle-income countries. One of the factors that affected infant growth and development was sleep, but it was estimated that more than 72% of parents did not consider sleep disturbances in infants to be a problem. Sleep quality was influenced by several factors, including adequate rest, environment, physical activity, nutrition, and illness. This study aimed to find out the difference in sleep quality of infants aged 3–12 months before and after receiving baby massage therapy at the Independent Midwife Practice of Putu Sri Widi Antari, S.Tr.Keb. Method The research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pre-test post-test design and no control group. A non-probability sampling approach with purposive sampling was applied. The sample consisted of 32 infants aged 3–12 months. Result The analysis showed that before receiving baby massage therapy, 4 infants (12.5%) had good sleep quality, and 28 infants (87.5%) had poor sleep quality. After the massage, 21 infants (65.6%) had good sleep quality, and 11 infants (34.4%) had poor sleep quality. Conclusion Based on the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, the p-value was 0.000 < 0.050, so it was concluded that there was a significant difference in the sleep quality of infants aged 3–12 months before and after receiving baby massage therapy at the Independent Midwife Practice of Putu Sri Widi Antari, S.Tr.Keb. It is hoped that parents can apply baby massage to their babies to improve the baby's sleep quality, so that the baby's growth and development can be optimally fulfilled.

Abstract

Introduction Emesis gravidarum is a common complaint of nausea and vomiting in the first trimester of pregnancy, experienced by approximately 50–80% of pregnant women worldwide. In Indonesia, and in West Sulawesi, the incidence of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women is estimated at around 55%. Although often considered a physiological condition, untreated emesis gravidarum can develop into hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, nutritional disorders, and disrupts the mother's quality of life. The aim is to provide an overview and evaluate the results of midwifery care for first-trimester pregnant women with emesis gravidarum using a comprehensive approach, then documented in the form of Varney's 7 steps. Methods Obstetric management approach technique and documentation of 7 steps of Varney were used to document the data collection procedures which included observation, interview, inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation as well as the use of case reports. Results This study was conducted on two pregnant women in the first trimester with emesis gravidarum, namely Mrs. "R" in the working area of Mapilli Health Center. Both mothers received midwifery care in accordance with service standards, including education about the condition of emesis gravidarum, showing a decrease in the frequency of nausea and vomiting, increased appetite, fulfillment of fluid needs, and improvement in maternal well-being after being given education on eating patterns of small portions but often, fulfilling fluids, adequate rest, and psychological support. Conclusion Midwifery care provided to pregnant women with emesis gravidarum problems showed a decrease in the frequency of nausea and vomiting, increased appetite, fulfillment of fluid needs, and improvement in maternal well-being after being given education on eating patterns of small portions but often, fulfilling fluids, adequate rest, and psychological support.
