Abstract

This research was aimed to promote the quality of learners’ skills in composing poetry through the implementation of contextual teaching and learning approach towards the second grade students of SMP Negeri 05 Bengkulu City. It was designed by implementing a qualitative approach. The object of this research was the learners’ skills in writing poetry. In this research, the researchers used observation, interview, and documentation as the data collection technique and triangulation as the data validity technique. The data validity technique included triangulation of source, technique, and time. The data analysis technique consisted of several steps: 1) Data Reduction, 2) Data Display, 3) Withdrawal Conclusion and Verification, 4) Final Conclusion. The result of this research revealed that the implementation of a contextual teaching and learning approach was able in promoting the learners’ skills in writing poetry. It could be understandable as this approach enabled the learners to compose poetry effortlessly.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form and meaning of Serwai Ethnic spell language in Tebat Sibun Village, Talo Kecil District, Seluma Regency. In this research, the writers used descriptive research method with qualitative research type. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that those study discusses two problems, namely (1) What is the form of the Serawai Ethnic spell language in Tebat Sibun Village, Talo Kecil District, Seluma Regency (2) What is the meaning of serawai Ethnic mantra language in Tebat Sibun Village, Talo Kecil District, as long as. The results of the first problem research, it is known that there are five existence of the spell language of Serawai Ethnic in Tebat Sibun Village, Talo Kecil District, Seluma Regency (a) experience of spell language which contains elements of treatment (b) experience of spell language which contains elements of self-protection (c) Existence of spell language containing agricultural elements (d) existence of spell language containing elements of attracting women/pellets (e) existence of spell language containing elements of eliminating hatred. The results of the second problem research, it is known that the meaning of the language of the Serawai Ethnic in Tebat Sibun Village, Talo Kecil District, Seluma Regency, there are five meanings (a) the meaning of healing spell language (b) the meaning of self-protective spell language (c) the meaning of agricultural spell language (d) the meaning of language female charm spells/pellets (e) meaning of hate-killing spells.

Abstract

The problem raised in this study is how the form of delivery of moral values ​​used by the author, the moral values ​​contained in the main character in dealing with problems and the form of moral values ​​contained in the novel 3600 Detik by Charon. The purpose of the study is to describe the form of conveying moral values ​​used by the author, the moral values ​​contained in the main character in dealing with life's problems and the form of moral values ​​contained in the novel 3600 Detik by Charon. The approach used in this research is a theoretical approach (literary pragmatic theory) and methodological approach (qualitative descriptive approach), and is studied using literary pragmatic studies. The method uses content analysis method. The data source is the novel 3600 Seconds by Charon. The data collected is in the form of words or quotes. Data collection techniques in the form of library techniques. Data validity techniques are focused on two ways, namely increasing persistence and using reference materials. The results of the study concluded that the form of moral delivery consists of two components, namely direct delivery which is conveyed through the author's description and through characters and indirect delivery which is conveyed through events and conflicts in the novel 3600 Detik. The moral values ​​contained in the main character in dealing with life's problems in the 3600 Seconds novel consist of five variants, namely disobeying school rules, caring for friends, never giving up, being firm and being honest. The form of moral values ​​contained in the 3600 Seconds novel consists of three aspects, namely the form of moral values ​​in human relations with God, forms of moral values ​​in human relations with humans and forms of moral values ​​in human relations with oneself.

Abstract

This research is motivated by Indonesian Language Learning which requires students to master the six politeness principles. Namely the maxsim of wisdom, the maxsim of generosit, the maxsim of praise, the maxsim of humility, the maxsim of agreement, and the maxsim of sympathy. In class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Kikim Tengah in discussion activities. The writing is the study exsamines how the implementation of politeness in Indonesian Language learning in class VIII teacher and students of SMP Negeri 1 Kikim Tengah, Lahat Regency during a discussion and what are the factors for violating the maxsims in the discussion. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research are students of class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Kikim Tengah, Lahat Regency, Meanwhile, the informants of this research are Indonesia Language Teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Kikim Tengah, Lahat Regency. The results of this study concluded that the implementation of politeness principles in student discussion activities, namely opening, explaining, question and answer, closing. The discussion process for students must be more thorough in mastering the principles of politeness in Indonesian language learning discussion activities, and the lecture method

Abstract

Theme and rheme as the main attention which will be discussed in a text and the theme will be supported by the rheme. Rheme is supporting sentences which will explain the theme more detail, so the readers can get the messages deeply which will be conveyed by the writer. This study aims to analyse the theme and rheme in bilingual book, a Book of Physics for grade VII of Junior High School. The objective of this study to know the theme and rheme from source language into target language, whether the theme and the rheme has preserved or has changed. The object in this research is a book, a Book of Physics for grade VII of Junior High School. We will analyse some texts or passages in this which are written in English and Indonesian. This research is quantitative research which will be analyzed the text descriptively based on their textual equivalence: thematic structure

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of e-learning in Indonesian class XI IBB subjects at SMAN 04 Bengkulu City. This study used qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions and verification. The informants in this study were the Indonesian language teacher and three students of class XI IBB. The implementation of this research began on May 06 to May 31, 2021. The results of this study were the implementation of E-learning in Indonesian Class XI IBB subjects at SMAN 04 Bengkulu City was very good and complete. Starting from the homepage, absences, announcements, messages, teaching schedules, related links, assignments, materials, my comments, achievement of basic competencies, group assignments, teacher filters, student filters and logout or exit. The implementation of e-learning makes it very easy for teachers to continue teaching and also greatly facilitates students in learning. While the obstacles to implementing e-learning in Indonesian class XI IBB subjects at SMAN 04 Bengkulu City are infrastructure, cellphones, quotas, difficult signals, servers that sometimes have errors and lack of notifications.

Abstract

Language skills must be owned by students. Therefore, the teacher's role is very important in the learning process because it must be able to provide strategic, innovative, and interesting methods, strategies, and learning media so that students are able to master the four language skills in Indonesian lessons, meaning that students must master these four skills in a balanced way. However, in reality, writing skills are still less favored by students, this is due to the number of students who have difficulty expressing ideas, feelings, and thoughts through writing. So that learning to write is more difficult than the three competencies in other language learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the RAFT strategy on the development of descriptive text writing skills for students of class X IPA1 SMA Negeri 2 Seluma. The type of research used is quantitative research. The sample of this study was 34 people. The instruments used are test sheets and documentation. The results obtained from this study, it is known that the hypothesis test was carried out, it was obtained that the value of Fcount> Ftable i.e. = 0.48 > 0.39, thus the hypothesis Ha was accepted, which means that the implementation of the RAFT strategy can improve the development of text writing skills. description of students of class X IPA1 SMA Negeri 2 Seluma. The implementation of the influence test in the results of this study found that the raft learning strategy on the development of writing skills in class X IPA1 SMA Negeri 2 Seluma, with the results of data management from the research conducted, it is known that there is a positive influence between RAFT strategy (X) on the development of descriptive text writing skills (Y).

Abstract

This research is about the use of word walls technique to improve students’ writing ability in descriptive text. There are some problems that faced by the students at the seventh grade students of SMPN 17 Kota Bengkulu in writing descriptive text the first is they do not have idea to write descriptive text. Second, they still confused in organizing the writing. Third, they often do some mistakes with the lack of knowledge in vocabularies. The objective of this research was to improve students’ writing ability in descriptive text using word walls technique. This research used classroom action research method that consisted of four steps, there are pre-assessment, cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. The subject of this research was students of Class VII D in SMPN 17 Kota Bengkulu. They were 24 students that consisted of 15 male and 9 female. The instruments of this research were interview, teacher and students’ observation checklist, writing test, and documentation. Based on the finding of this research, it showed that word walls technique could improve students’ writing ability in descriptive text. Students were active in the classroom and good interaction between teacher and students. The evaluation test administrated at the end of each cycle. The result of mean score on evaluation were pre-assessment (47,65), cycle I (59,36), cycle II (67,96), and cycle III (73,95). It could be concluded that there were improvement in every cycle, a significant different between the mean score of pre-assessment and cycle III namely 47,65 and 73,95. It showed that word walls technique could improve student’s writing ability in descriptive text.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the intrinsic elements and the stereotypes of women found in the main characters of the novel Perempuan Bayangan by Netty Virgiantini. This research was designed by using a qualitative approach and content analysis method. In this research, the researchers implemented documentation techniques (literature study) in collecting the data of this research. Moreover, the interactive framework was used as the data analysis technique. The result of this research revealed that the intrinsic elements found in the novel included the theme (the eternity of love), characters, and the characterization. The characters and characterization consisted of the major characters, the supporting characters, and the shadow characters. The major characters were Ningrum, Satria and Padmi. The supporting characters were Ponco, Pandu, Pratiwi, Mrs. Sinta, Kokok, Tia, Satria’s mother and Ningrum’s mother. The shadow character was Utari. The setting of this novel included the Satria’s living room, pujahera, kitchen, boarding room, in the toast stall, restaurant, Ningrum's parents' house, office, sofa, the landlord's house. The setting of time included in the morning, evening, afternoon, and noon. The plot of the novel was chronological, and the points of views were first-person and third-person. The figure of speech included simile and oxymoron. Moreover, the moral values showed that one of the best ways in loving someone who died is by letting them go and praying for their peace in heaven, and never judge people at will by comparing them to the other ones as each person has its different strengths and weaknesses from each other. The woman’s stereotype found in the novel was that marriage was just based on personal benefits. The silence of women was considered as a sign of agreement on anything. Husband compared his wife to other women, and yelled at the wife whenever she was doing something.

Abstract

This study was aimed to reveal the effect of problem solving method on the students’ Indonesian subject learning outcomes in the second grade students of IPA Class of SMA Negeri 5 Lebong. This study was designed by using a quantitative approach implementing a quasi experimental method. This method allowed the researchers to study a control class and an experimental class, but the control class did not have a crucial function to control the external variables which influenced the implementation of the experiment. Based on the result of this research, it could be concluded that there was the effect of problem solving on the Indonesian learners’ learning outcomes at the second grade students of IPA Class of SMA Negeri 5 Lebong. It triumphantly revealed that there was the influential effect of the implementation of the problem solving learning method. It could be seen that thitung = 7,947 > ttabel =2,048 with the significance level 0,05%. The alternative hypothesis proved that the effect of problem solving on the Indonesian learners’ learning outcomes at the second grade students of IPA Class of SMA Negeri 5 Lebong was acceptable.
