Abstract

Learning is a collaborative process involving students and teachers who design every activity that will be carried out to help students understand and master the subject matter. So that in carrying out their duties, teachers are required to create a classroom atmosphere that allows students to understand the material presented well. However, in reality the teaching and learning process does not always go as expected. In the teaching and learning process, problems often arise that may hinder the smooth running of the teaching and learning process itself. English is a challenge for students to learn because they lack vocabulary, and there is no appropriate learning method to teach students to master vocabulary quickly and precisely in English. For this reason, several learning media were used, namely English flashcards, translating song, the knowledge tree, motivation wall and the crossword puzzle. By applying several media and methods, it is hoped that it can improve students' vocabulary in English at SMPN Satap 4 Tual.

Abstract

The utilization of sago which is the result of local resources in Baingkete Village, Sorong Regency is still in the form of Papeda (rice substitute). The lack of knowledge and skills in sago management is still very low, while the availability of sago in Baingkete Village is quite a lot and can be of economic value. The purpose of this training activity is to provide knowledge and training in making sago-based rocking flower cakes. This activity was carried out in October 2021 in Baingkete Village, Makbon District, Sorong Regency. This activity requires several tools and ingredients for a rocking flower cake. Training activities for making sago-based rock flower cakes can increase knowledge about sago processing for the people of Baingkete Village. Kembang goyang cake made from sago is a cake variant that can be made by Papuan mothers as a snack in the family which can be an economical addition for small household businesses.

Abstract

Indonesia, with various ethnic groups, has a wide area and diverse cultural diversity. With this wealth, the ownership of the territory or land of each ethnic group has different customary provisions. Along with the progress of time and an increase in population, it has caused many problems in customary land ownership. The Moi tribe in Klablin sub-district, Kota Sorong, has customary land ownership rights, but often experience disputes over their ownership. Therefore it is very necessary to socialize the law on customary land ownership for the Malamoi people in Klablim Village. This activity is carried out with the stages of observation, preparation and implementation of activities carried out with a lecture system and question and answer discussion. The results of this activity indicate that the problem with customary land ownership rights in Klablin Village by the Moi tribe does not have knowledge of ownership because it is owned by several clans, doubling or duplicating customary waiver letters, there is a sale above sale status and there is no registration of customary land in the eyes of government law . Settlement of customary land issues can be resolved by registering customary land ownership rights according to law and government regulations.

Abstract

Empowering inmates is an action taken to help them acquire independence and form positive characters. Citizenship education in prisons is one of the empowerment programs that can help inmates achieve these goals. Citizenship education in prisons is carried out by providing material on the rights and obligations as citizens, as well as national values. Citizenship education provides opportunities for inmates to improve their knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes in community life. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of empowering inmates through citizenship education in forming character and independence in prisons. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The results showed that citizenship education provided in prisons has a positive influence on the formation of character and independence of inmates. Inmates who participate in citizenship education programs in prisons have knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes that can help them in community life after being released from prison. Therefore, citizenship education in prisons needs to be continuously improved and expanded to achieve more effective inmate empowerment goals.

Abstract

Kampus Mengajar is a learning and teaching activity in the basic education unit of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) to provide learners with opportunities to take classes elsewhere for one semester and practice their ability to solve complex problems by becoming partner teachers to innovate in learning, developing creative, innovative, and fun strategies and learning models. Students gain experience exploring various programs based on SD Negeri 12 Kota Sorong's needs, honing leadership skills, problem-solving during program activities, interpersonal abilities with school principals, teachers, and students, analytical thinking, creativity, and innovation directly from the field. How to be concise in carrying out the tasks required by the placement school. Students' duties within the teaching campus program include supporting the educational process, assisting school administration, participating in technological adaption, reading, and numeracy, and assisting with incidental school events. Students also do self-evaluations, compose and post final activity reports, and conduct self-evaluations/assessments alone and in groups. Learners that participate in this program may improve their social skills and become more mature about how to learn to be excellent instructors even if they have restricted talents.

Abstract

Reading habit must be instilled and developed in children from an early age. Motivating children to read has its own challenges in the midst of such rapid developments. Especially in cultivating the spirit of reading English texts. Educators are expected to have creativity in managing a more creative learning process so that it attracts students to be more motivated to learn. Reading is an important skill that must be possessed by students, so it is considered important to provide assistance to strengthen English reading literacy for students at the elementary school level, so that students get used to reading from an early age. Therefore, the purpose of this community service is to foster a spirit of English literacy in elementary school students. One way to achieve this goal is to use cooperative learning methods, namely studying with groups of four to five people, each adapted to a different level of ability, gender, ethnicity or race. This activity combines smart, easy, fast, and fun learning features. The group learning method is part of the activity implementation methodology. This activity involved YPK Elim Malanu elementary school students, Sorong, Southwest Papua who were in grades two and three. The implementation of this activity takes place from August to December 2021. From the results of this activity it can be concluded that group learning can foster students' interest and enthusiasm in English literacy.

Abstract

This service aims to build understanding and knowledge of female fishermen in the coastal area of ​​Raam Island regarding economic development through fishery products that are marketed with a marketing diversification system. Partners in Community Service (PkM) are fisherwomen on Raam Island, Sorong Islands District, Sorong City, Southwest Papua Province. The lack of understanding and information obtained by fishermen and fisherwomen makes them sell the fish they get, most of it is sold in fresh form and some is processed into dried fish. So that the income received is also little or even no income. So that in its development, marketing diversification is needed which will increase the economic value of fishery products. The results of the Community Service Program that has been carried out on partners is that partners' insight and understanding of the material provided increases, especially handling fishery products boldly using social media.

Abstract

One of the teaching campus implementation programs is in the form of teaching assistants that give students the opportunity to support their learning process in primary schools in different villages and towns in Indonesia, especially in the 4T areas (Foremost, Outermost, Disadvantaged and Transmigration areas), one of which is SD Inpres 1 Malawei which is located in Sorong City, West Papua Province. In this program, participating students are responsible for supporting the school with its key processes: the operational aspects. It also helps in teaching and learning processes, technology adaptation and school operations. In addition, the student assistance process is carried out in the form of responsibility in improving literacy and numeracy for students at SD Inpres 1 Malawei, Sorong City. The outcome of this program, especially in the field of education, is that it instills in students empathy and social sensitivity to problems in the lives of those around them, as well as their cross-disciplinary cooperation and problem-solving skills. I have. It enhances the diversity of student knowledge and origins, develops student insight, character and soft skills, and enhances the proper role and contribution of the university and students in the development of society.

Abstract

English is a new thing for early-grade students at SD Negeri 29 Kota Sorong, even though the introduction of English can be done in various exciting ways, one of which is making crafts appropriate to the age of early-grade students. In this activity, the introduction to English is carried out by making crafts using attractive shapes and colors and by forming objects by sticking origami paper to shape houses or caterpillars using simple English. Partners participating in this activity were 30 students from grade 1 and 16 from grade 2 at SD Negeri 29 Kota Sorong. The results of this activity showed that the early grades were very enthusiastic about getting to know colors and shapes in English. They are very responsive, passionate, and active in demonstrating the work made.

Abstract

Praktek perladangan berpindah menjadi bagian dari tradisi lokal masyarakat Sausapor, tetapi juga membawa dampak buruk pada lingkungan sekitar. Ada beberapa kendala yang menjadi dasar masalah ini, seperti kurangnya informasi yang diterima masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan lahan bekas perladangan berpindah, pemahaman masyarakat yang terbatas dalam pengelolaan lahan dengan metode agroforestri dan implementasinya, serta pengetahuan terbatas dalam menanam berbagai komoditas, yang berakibat pada pendapatan masyarakat yang masih rendah. Sosialisasi dilaksanakan melalui proses survei kondisi lahan untuk mendapatkan data mengenai kondisi tanah, jenis tanah, dan pH tanah yang akan digunakan sebagai acuan dalam tahap sosialisasi. Evaluasi hasil melalui pre-tes dan post-tes dari 32 orang masyarakat, menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan peserta bisa dibagi menjadi tiga kriteria berdasarkan rata-rata rentang skor. Di kategori baik, ada peningkatan dari 16% menjadi 81%, di kategori cukup ada penurunan dari 25% menjadi 16% dan di kategori kurang, terjadi penurunan yang cukup besar dari 59% menjadi 3%. Berdasarkan data yang didapatkan setelah kegiatan, terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan peserta selama proses sosialisasi berlangsung.
