Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to develop and examine the feasibility and effectiveness of interactive learning media based on PowerPoint and Wordwall integrated with the inquiry learning model to improve fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes in IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies). Methods – This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Borg and Gall model, limited to the field-testing stage. The study was conducted at SDN Wonokerto 1 Demak involving 43 fourth-grade students. Data was collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, expert validation sheets, and learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest). Data analysis included normality testing, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain calculation using SPSS. Findings – The study found that the developed product is an inquiry-based interactive learning media combining PowerPoint and Wordwall. The material is delivered in a structured manner using various multimedia elements, while interactive game-based activities are incorporated to facilitate practice and assessment. The design follows inquiry learning stages, encouraging students to actively observe, question, explore, and conclude, resulting in improved engagement and deeper conceptual understanding. The product was categorized as highly feasible (93.33% material validation; 91.60% media validation) and showed a moderate improvement in learning outcomes (N-Gain = 63%).Research Implications – This study implies that interactive learning media based on PowerPoint and Wordwall integrated with the inquiry learning model can serve as an innovative alternative to improve students’ learning outcomes, motivation, and engagement in elementary science and social learning. However, this study is limited to a single class in one school and focuses only on the topic of energy transformation, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

Purpose – Emotional intelligence is an important aspect of adolescent development that influences how students manage emotions, interact socially, and respond to challenges. However, emotional instability is still observed among secondary school students, indicating the need to examine contextual factors, particularly family support. This study aims to analyze the role of family support as a predictor of students’ emotional intelligence. Methods – This study employed a cross-sectional quantitative survey design. The sample consisted of 551 students from SMAN 1 Gambut and SMKN 1 Gambut selected using non-probability quota sampling. Data was collected using Likert-scale questionnaires measuring family support based on Friedman’s theory and emotional intelligence based on the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and non-linear quadratic polynomial regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 30. Findings – The results showed that family support among students was generally in the high category. The regression model was statistically significant, indicating that family support serves as a meaningful predictor of students’ emotional intelligence. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.116, indicating that family support is associated with 11.6% of the variance in emotional intelligence, which can be interpreted as a small to moderate effect size.Research Implications – These findings suggest that support is one of several factors related to students’ emotional intelligence, although its role appears relatively limited. Practically, schools and parents can collaborate to support students’ emotional development through consistent emotional support, appreciation, and effective communication at home. A limitation of this study is that it was conducted in only two schools using non-probability sampling, which may limit generalizability. Future studies are recommended to involve more diverse samples and examine additional related factors.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the requirements of guidance and counseling services for innovative service tools in line with student characteristics. Methods – This study employed a descriptive qualitative research approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews with guidance and counseling teachers, and the distribution of questionnaires to 123 students. The study involved direct observation of guidance and counseling activities; interviews were conducted with three guidance counselors, each lasting 40-47 minutes. The instruments used included a media needs questionnaire and a self-esteem questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage techniques to describe students’ needs regarding guidance and counseling services. Findings – The results of the study indicate that the use of media in guidance and counseling services remains limited to simple media such as PowerPoint and lecture methods. Meanwhile, the needs analysis revealed that students require more diverse media, with the percentage of needs for augmented reality media at 70%, animation media at 67%, digital media at 65%, inclusive media at 66%, and contextual media at 56%. Additionally, the results of the self-esteem analysis indicate variations across each measured aspect, suggesting that students’ self-esteem levels are not uniform.Research Implications – This study suggests that guidance and counseling services should consider utilizing a wider variety of technology-based media tailored to students’ needs. However, this study has limitations regarding the implementation and effectiveness of such media in practice. Therefore, future research is expected to develop and evaluate the use of technology-based guidance and counseling media in a broader context.

Abstract

Purpose – This study explores how forgiveness is interpreted by female students who experience seniority practices in an Islamic boarding school and how this process relates to aspects of psychological well-being. Previous studies have widely examined forgiveness and psychological well-being; however, limited research explains how forgiveness functions as a coping mechanism for students dealing with seniority dynamics within boarding school environments. Methods – This research employed a qualitative descriptive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving three female students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (grades VII–IX) who had lived in the Islamic boarding school for at least six months and had experiences related to seniority interactions. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Credibility of the findings was strengthened through source triangulation involving caregivers and peers. Findings – The findings indicate that seniority experiences initially generated emotional responses such as fear, discomfort, and avoidance among participants. Findings suggest that participants interpreted forgiveness as a coping mechanism that helped them reinterpret seniority experiences and maintain aspects of psychological well-being Ryff, particularly self-acceptance, positive relations with others, and emotional regulation.Research Implications – This study provides insight into how forgiveness may function as a coping response in dealing with seniority dynamics in boarding school settings.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to empirically examine the relationship between grit and psychological well-being among Islamic boarding school students. Students living in boarding school environments face various personal, social, and academic demands that may relate to their psychological well-being, which plays an important role in supporting academic functioning, mental health, and personal development. Methods – A quantitative approach was employed using a cross-sectional explanatory survey design. The sample comprised all 105 grade XI students at Ma'had Darul Ilmi MAN 2 Kota Kediri, selected through total sampling. Data was gathered via a questionnaire consisting of the Short Grit Scale and a psychological well-being scale and subsequently analyzed using simple regression analysis. Findings – The results revealed a significant relationship between grit and psychological well-being (F = 21.300; p < 0.05). Interestingly, the relationship was negative (B = -0.505; t = -4.615), indicating that higher levels of grit were associated with lower psychological well-being among students. This finding may relate to contextual characteristics of the boarding school environment and the specific population studied. Furthermore, grit explained 17.1% of the variance in psychological well-being, while the remaining 82.9% may be associated with other factors beyond the scope of this study.Research Implications – The findings highlight that psychological well-being among boarding school students may be associated with multiple psychological and contextual factors. Further research is recommended to explore additional variables that may relate to students’ psychological well-being in boarding school settings.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine women’s leadership in Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia through a systematic literature review. It focuses on synthesizing previously fragmented and context-specific research to provide a more coherent understanding across institutional settings and sociocultural contexts. Methods – This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine patterns of women’s leadership and gender dynamics in Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. Using the PRISMA framework, this review analyzes 30 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. The analysis employs thematic synthesis to identify patterns in leadership models, structural dynamics, and institutional outcomes. Findings – The findings reveal that women’s leadership is multidimensional, encompassing religious-charismatic, managerial-professional, and emerging digital forms. The findings indicate that while structural barriers such as patriarchal norms and institutional hierarchies remain significant, they are not absolute. Women leaders actively negotiate these constraints through adaptive and context-sensitive strategies. As a result, leadership should be understood as a dynamic process shaped by the interplay between structure and agency. Research Implications – This research contributes a structured synthesis that serves as a basis for more context-sensitive research and policy development, offering a clearer framework for understanding female leadership within the landscape of Islamic education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines how a sense of quality is formed in machining practicum learning from the perspective of teachers. The study contributes to the discussion on quality development in vocational education by exploring how attitudes, knowledge, and skills are integrated within practical learning environments. Methods – A qualitative case study was conducted in a vocational high school specializing in machining. Data was collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews with four experienced teachers. The data were analyzed using iterative thematic analysis, including open coding, focused coding, and category development. Findings – The findings suggest that a sense of quality is developed through three interconnected dimensions. First, attitudes form the foundation, including responsibility, honesty, discipline, and resilience shaped through work experiences. Second, knowledge provides the conceptual and procedural framework, including understanding of standards, technical parameters, and production context. Third, skills represent the enactment of quality through planning, measurement, standard-based execution, reflection, and problem-solving. These dimensions are closely interrelated and indicate a pattern of quality development rather than a fixed system.Research Implications – The study offers an interpretative framework for understanding how quality awareness is constructed in vocational practicum learning.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the relationship between the family environment and students’ ability to read the Qur’an. The focus of the study is on the extent to which the family environment contributes to explaining variations in the ability to read the Qur’an within the context of formal education. Methods – This study employs a quantitative approach using a causal-associative research design aimed at analyzing the relationship between the family environment and students’ ability to read the Qur’an. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression to determine the magnitude of the independent variable’s contribution to the dependent variable. Data was collected via a questionnaire to measure the family environment variable and an oral test to assess Quran reading ability. Findings – The findings of this study indicate that the sample under investigation the family environment does not have a significant effect on the ability to read the Qur’an. This is evidenced by the p-value of 0.901, which is well above the significance threshold of ? = 0.05. The relationship between the two variables is classified as very weak, with a correlation coefficient of only 0.013 and a coefficient of determination (R-squared) of 0.000, indicating that the family environment’s contribution to the variation in the ability to read the Qur’an is nearly zero.Research Implications – The implications of this study suggest that differences in the ability to read the Qur’an are most likely influenced by factors outside the model used, without implying that any single factor is dominant. The generalizability of these findings is limited to the context of this study.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the relationship between social media use and anti-cyberbullying attitudes among junior high school students. Methods – This research employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey design. The sample consisted of 121 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Banjarmasin selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires measuring social media use and anti-cyberbullying attitudes. Social media use was operationalized as a multidimensional construct, including intensity, types of activities, socio-emotional experiences, and online interaction norms. Data was analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS 29, after fulfilling assumption tests including normality and linearity. Findings – The results showed a significant positive relationship between social media use and anti-cyberbullying attitudes (r = 0.442; p < 0.001), indicating a moderate level of association. Regression analysis further revealed that social media use significantly contributes to anti-cyberbullying attitudes (? = 0.359; p < 0.001), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.196. This indicates that social media use accounts for 19.6% of the variance in anti-cyberbullying attitudes. These findings suggest that social media use is associated with the development of preventive attitudes toward cyberbullying, without implying a causal relationship.Research Implications – This study highlights the importance of digital interaction experiences in shaping adolescents’ preventive attitudes toward cyberbullying. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the cross-sectional design, single-site sample, and reliance on self-reported data, which may introduce bias.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the association between Big Five personality traits and teachers perceived character education effectiveness. Although prior research has established the role of personality in teaching, limited attention has been given to the relative contribution of each trait, particularly in non-Western contexts. Methods – A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed, involving 197 teachers from Indonesian schools selected through multistage random sampling. Personality traits were measured using a validated Big Five instrument based on the Five-Factor Model, while perceived character education effectiveness was assessed through a multidimensional scale capturing implementation quality, school climate, and student character development. All measures demonstrated acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach’s ? > 0.70). Data was analyzed using multiple regression and relative weight analysis (RWA). Findings – The model explained 34.6% of the variance in perceived character education effectiveness. Emotional stability, conscientiousness, and openness to experience showed significant positive associations. Among these, emotional stability contributed the largest proportion of explained variance, followed by conscientiousness and openness. Extraversion and agreeableness showed smaller and non-significant effects. Research Implications – These findings suggest that personality traits are differentially associated with teachers’ perceptions of character education effectiveness. Practically, the results suggest the potential relevance of emotional regulation, consistency, and adaptability in supporting character education practices. However, the cross-sectional design and reliance on self-reported data limit causal interpretation and may introduce common method bias. Future research should employ longitudinal designs and multi-source data to strengthen the robustness of these findings.
