Abstract

A high workload without being balanced with efforts to balance work life will lead to problems in the world of work. This study aims to determine the relationship between organic workers’ work engagement and work-life balance. This research is a correlative quantitative study with the participants being organic workers at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Southern Sumatra, totaling 146 people. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling. Data collection was done using Work-life Balance and Work Engagement Scales. This study uses simple linear regression test analysis techniques. The results showed a significant relationship between work engagement and work-life balance (r = .476, p < .01). Work engagement’s practical contribution to work-life balance is 22.7%, and other factors influence the remaining 77.3%.

Abstract

Memory productivity in the brain can work in Quran memorization activities through hypnotherapy. It can increase the function of neurotransmitters and manage the hippocampus, which works in memory storage. This study aims to examine hypnotherapy as one of the methods of memorizing the Qur’an. The research subjects were selected through the hypnotherapy stage, where a suggestibility test was conducted. The total number of students in Rumah Tahfidz Al-Muhajirin is 22 students. In the results of the suggestibility test, there are nine children with high trance conditions and 13 students with lower trance conditions. The research subjects were nine students with high trance states. The research subjects are female students with an age range from 9 to 13 years. This research is quantitative with an experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The data source was obtained directly from the research subject, using data collection through the interview method and data collection tools in the form of Al-Qur’an memorization intensity instruments. Data analysis uses percentage techniques based on the Wilcoxon signed ranks test method with descriptive analysis results. The results of this study based on the pre-test score of 72% and the post-test score of 90% showed an increase of 18%. This research offers an influence in improving the memorization of Al-Quran with the hypnotherapy method. This result implies that hypnotherapy is not only a technique that can be used in healing or therapy but can also improve the memorization of the Quran.

Abstract

The number of male kindergarten teachers is significantly lower than that of female kindergarten teachers, despite the fact that male teachers are paternal figures who will contribute to the development of students at school. This research aimed to determine the description of meaningful work among male kindergarten teachers. The subjects of this research were three male kindergarten class teachers with different work experiences. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used in this study. The data were obtained through interviews and analyzed from transcribing to interpreting the data. The research findings stated that all the main subjects had different images regarding how each felt their work was meaningful, especially in the aspect of psychological meaningfulness in work. In the aspect of meaning-making through work, all subjects could understand what could improve their qualities and how to understand themselves and their environment. Lastly, in the aspect of greater good motivations, each subject wanted to be helpful to the school stakeholders or even the family of themselves. This research concluded that the three main subjects generally had different images in making their work as kindergarten teachers meaningful. The research implications are that male kindergarten teachers hopefully can improve their performance, early childhood education units are expected to socialize with the public about the presence of male teachers in kindergartens, and the government is also expected to give more appreciation to kindergarten teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the psychological and behavioral impact of early adult women who are victims of gaslighting in romantic relationships. Gaslighting is a behavior carried out by a gaslighter by intimidating, lying, dominating and manipulating victims where the goal is for the victims to doubt themselves, their memories, their own thoughts, and their own sanity. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Subjects amounted to early adult woman who was a victim of gaslighting behavior in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The data collection method used was observation and semi-structured interviews and then the data were analyzed using the data reduction process analysis method. The results showed that the psychological impacts experienced by victims of gaslighting behavior were confusion, frustration, anxiety, stress and low self-esteem. Meanwhile, the behavioral impact experienced by victims of gaslighting behavior is the emergence of argumentative behavior, desperate to convince the gaslighter, starting to doubt their own views, having difficulty making decisions, giving in and being silent to avoid conflict, and depending on the gaslighter.

Abstract

In 2015 to 2016 when the Rohingya were stranded in Kuala Langsa Harbor, Aceh. The research was conducted when the Rohingya survivors had been living in Aceh for six months. For most people, entering puberty is not easy. Adolescence is a stormy and stressful time because it is a time of emotional turmoil and imbalance. For Rohingya adolescents who experienced this runaway tragedy, of course, the adolescent phase they went through adds color, uniqueness, difficulties, and pressures that are different from ordinary adolescents who did not go through a tragedy in their lives. These conditions make Rohingya adolescents have to survive and find their ways to get through this tragedy. This research aims to discover the sources of resilience owned by adolescent girls who are Rohingya survivors. It is known from previous research that adolescent girls are not as resilient as adolescent boys and tend to be more sensitive and stressed when facing complex and stressful situations. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The subject was taken by purposive sampling and amounted to only one person who was 16 years old. Resilient sources obtained by Rohingya adolescent survivors stranded in Aceh are obtained from internal sources, namely, I Am and I Can. External sources, namely, I have external support and sources in increasing resilience that are received from social support and trades.

Abstract

The veil-wearing is debated in various non-Muslim countries, yet it is indispensable to explore the veil-wearing in Muslim-majority country that upholds the ideology of religious moderation. Despite the fact that Langsa City implements Sharia law, women who wear veils encounter discrimination. While wearing veil, women are confronted with obstacles, but still preserve the veil. Thus, analysing the motive and the maintaining factor is crucial. This study investigates why people choose to wear and continue wearing veils. The current study is a qualitative study with an ethnographic approach. Data was collected using observations, in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with 10 informants selected purposively. The results analysis revealed that the use of the veil does not happen suddenly but through a complex process. The motivation for wearing a veil is a spiritual force. However, other multi-factor underlines the decision to wear one. The factors are dedication to religious principles, protecting oneself, following one spouse's advice, and a desire to appear fashionable but yet respectful and Islamic. This study implies that there is a shift in perspectives regarding the veiling practice as a means of spirituality as well as a means of self-expression. Moreover, Islamic veils transcend Islamic regulations because women wear them for diverse purposes.

Abstract

Kesejahteraan anak sangat berperan penting terhadap kehidupan dan perkembangan anak, individu yang memiliki kesejahteraan yang tinggi akan menunjukkan kehidupan yang baik. Tidak semua anak tinggal bersama keluarga harmonis dan bisa menjadi tempat dalam memenuhi perkembangannya. Terdapat banyak anak yang terlantar dan harus tinggal di panti asuhan, seorang anak akan beranggapan bahwa ia mengalami bentuk penolakan dari lingkungan sekitar karena ditempatkan di panti asuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan hubungan antara social support dengan subjective well-being pada anak panti asuhan. Metode yang digunakan peneliti adalah kuantitatif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu simple random sampling. Seratus anak panti dengan karakteristik usia 8-16 tahun dan telah lama tinggal di panti asuhan lebih dari dua tahun menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Analisis data hasil penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji regresi sederhana yang menunjukkan diterimanya hipotesis yang diajukan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, terdapat hubungan antara social support dengan subjective well-being pada anak panti asuhan. Hal tersebut terlihat dari nilai korelasi antara variabel Subjective Wellbeing dengan Social Support yaitu r = 0,376 dengan nilai R Square = 0,142 dan p = 0,000 dimana p < 0,01. Besarnya sumbangan efektif yang diberikan oleh variabel Social Support dengan Subjective Wellbeing adalah sebesar 14,2% (R² = 0,142). Penelitian ini membahas pentingnya Social Support untuk meningkatkan Subjective Wellbeing seseorang.

Abstract

Marital satisfaction is an essential aspect of family life. Individuals who experience satisfaction in their marriage tend to exhibit positive emotions leading to happiness, which is associated with their subjective well-being encompassing their overall life satisfaction. Every individual naturally desires subjective well-being in their lives, including adolescents who marry due to unplanned pregnancies. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between marital satisfaction and subjective well-being among adolescents who married because of unplanned pregnancies. The research methodology employed in this study is quantitative, with a total sampling technique used to select 64 adolescents who married due to unplanned pregnancies as participants. The data analysis method utilized in this study is the Pearson product-moment correlation. The analysis results reveal a correlation of r = -0.356 with a significance level of 0.004 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between marital satisfaction and subjective well-being. The positive direction of this relationship suggests that lower marital satisfaction corresponds to lower subjective well-being, and vice versa

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of competency on work engagement, with self-efficacy serving as a mediating variable, among Muslim teachers in Tanjung Morawa. The study's population comprised 230 teachers. A total sampling technique was employed, resulting in a sample size of 230 individuals. The research adopted a quantitative methodology, utilizing the Competency Scale, Work Engagement Scale, and Self-Efficacy Mediation Scale as measurement instruments. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression tests. The findings of this study indicate that self-efficacy (Z) significantly mediates the relationship between competency and work engagement. These results underscore the importance of competency and self-efficacy in enhancing teachers' work engagement. Therefore, efforts to improve teachers' competency and self-efficacy can be considered effective strategies for increasing work engagement. The implications of this study also provide training programs and interventions that are more focused on enhancing competency and self-efficacy in the workplace context
