Abstract

The Rumbio Jaya Iron Brick Small and Medium Industry Center (IKM) is one of the metal business units that faces problems in the management of work areas, especially related to the lack of regularity and high potential hazards due to piles of goods that are not clearly identified. This shows that the implementation of the 6S work culture has not been carried out optimally. This research aims to design a strategy for the implementation of the 6S method and prepare SOPs that are in accordance with the characteristics and needs of the local work environment. To find out the initial condition of the work area, an evaluation was carried out using the 6S assessment form which included 32 assessment indicators, ranging from 1 to 5 assessment scores. Score 1 = 18 aspects, score 2 = 16 aspects, score 3 = 18 aspects, scores 4 and 5 = 0. The total score was 52 out of 160 points maximum, with an average score per indicator of 1.625. These results show that the 6S principle is still carried out in a limited way. Therefore, improvements were given, among others, the preparation of SOPs for each aspect of the 6S, the redesign of workstations, the construction of storage racks and labeling systems, the installation of boundary lines, and the implementation of daily inspections to ensure the consistency of its implementation. Abstract

Within the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) sector, product quality is regarded as a pivotal determinant upon which commercial sustainability rests. PT AAA, an enterprise operating across the estate and manufacturing domains, is engaged in the fabrication of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) alongside Palm Kernel, whereby Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) harvested from the oil palm serve as the principal feedstock. Although a sound quality-assurance mechanism has been instituted throughout the manufacturing sequence by the firm, deviations of an unwelcome nature are nonetheless still encountered. The intent pursued by this inquiry is threefold: to pinpoint the imperfections arising in crude palm oil (CPO) output, to dissect the determinants precipitating the deterioration of CPO quality, and to advance remedial proposals grounded in the Lean Six Sigma paradigm. Whereas the tempo and duration of production, or the production sequence as it unfolds, may be scrutinised through Lean, the origins of product imperfection are, by contrast, examined and ameliorated by means of Six Sigma. It is disclosed by the computational outcomes that the imperfections besetting CPO are attributable to a moisture fraction amounting to 66.6% together with an FFA fraction of 33.4%. The output records subjected to examination span a single month, namely January 2023. It should be noted that only the determinants underlying CPO imperfection at PT AAA were appraised in the present work, no corrective measures having been enacted. Abstract

PT. Pupuk Kujang currently does not have a standard time in the distribution of NPK fertilizer raw materials, especially for urea, KCL, and DAP, so that there are often delays in the arrival of raw materials which causes delays in the production process. The purpose of this research is to find out the standard time  needed in the distribution of NPK raw materials, namely urea, KCL, and DAP so that there is no delay in the raw materials that can reach the transit warehouse. Observations were carried out directly by researchers in the NPK 2 factory area by observing and interviewing field supervisors. The results obtained from the data processing that have been calculated obtained the standard time (standard time) using the time study method with each urea distribution of 1971,42 seconds , KCL of 861,17seconds, and DAP of 856,66 seconds. The time includes starting from loading raw materials, traveling raw materials to scales, weighing raw materials, traveling raw materials to transit warehouses, and unloading raw materials in transit warehouses. Abstract

PT XYZ faces a significant issue with the high rate of finished goods delivery delays, particularly in the Metal Line, where delays peaked at 74 occurrences in a single month. This study aims to identify the root causes of delivery delays, classify waste activities, and develop improvement proposals based on Lean Manufacturing principles. The research methods include direct observation, interviews, and data analysis using Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Process Activity Mapping (PAM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with a Fishbone Diagram. Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) is used to measure process efficiency by comparing value-added time to the total lead time required for the process. The results indicate that only 8.6% of activities are value-added, while the remaining activities are non-value-added, including waiting time, material movement, and machine setup. The proposed improvements include layout optimization, implementation of the Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) method, and the development of a future state mapping. The implementation of these improvements increased the PCE value to 10.91%, reflecting a 2.31% improvement in process efficiency and a reduction in waste activities. Therefore, the proposed improvements are expected to significantly reduce delivery delays and enhance overall production performance. Abstract

Tokki Engineering and Fabrication is a company engaged in the fabrication of industrial equipment such as heat exchangers. During the period from January to March 2025, the company produced three units of heat exchangers, all of which were identified to have weld joint defects based on radiography inspection results. A total of 34 out of 315 films were rejected, with porosity being the dominant defect type, accounting for 21 cases or 62%. The approach used was the Quality Control Circle method, supported by analysis tools such as fishbone diagrams, matrix diagrams, and solution selection using the Analytical Hierarchy Process. The study results indicate that the use of blowers in the welding area is the main root cause of porosity defects. Among four evaluated alternative solutions, installing visual signs and warning indicators in the work area was chosen as the most effective and preventive improvement proposal. If this improvement is implemented, the defect rate is estimated to decrease by 100%, based on assessments by internal company experts who understand the actual processes and conditions in the field. Abstract

The growth of vehicle ownership in Indonesia has increased the demand for vehicle maintenance services, which raises the potential for occupational accidents in automotive workshops. PT. Z recorded nine work accidents during 2024, including falling from a vehicle lift and injuries from work tools, reflecting a weak implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS). This study aims to identify hazards, assess risk levels, and determine the root causes of workplace accidents using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) method combined with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). Data were collected through field observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results show that 13 work activities carry various levels of risk, with several identified as high risk. FTA analysis revealed the main causes of accidents: failure to use personal protective equipment (PPE), inadequate training, and uncontrolled work environments. This study concludes that the integration of HIRARC and FTA provides a comprehensive risk analysis and supports the formulation of proactive risk control strategies to improve workplace safety in PT. Z vehicle service environment. Keywords: Fault Tree Analysis, HIRARC, Occupational Safety and Health (OHS), Risk Control, Vehicle Maintenance

Abstract

PT. UTC Aerospace Systems Bandung Operations faces challenges in meeting the production targets for Actuator Body Sub Assembly in Cell Shaft division, with a shortfall of 66 units per month and an impact on On Time Delivery. This research aims to identify and analyze capacity limiting factors and the root causes of production flow efficiency problems. The research methodology includes cycle time analysis to understand the processes and production flow, as well as a simulation of the current production system. This approach is used to investigate areas where WIP congestion occurs and how it hinders the smooth flow of production. Using a JaamSim based discrete simulation, this study analyzes the implementation of ConWIP to optimize production capacity in the Cell Shaft division. The analysis results show significant WIP congestion at operation station 1655, which hinders material flow and reduces production capacity. Through the JaamSim simulation, this study examines how the application of ConWIP can increase production capacity from 574 units to 576 units per month. Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia still largely rely on traditional drying methods, such as sun drying, which are inefficient during rainy seasons. This study aims to design and test a food drying system based on Arduino Uno and Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance drying efficiency and production quality. The system integrates a DHT11 sensor for automatic temperature and humidity monitoring, combined with a blower, heating element, and digital timer. Research was conducted using experimental and development methods at the Industrial Engineering Laboratory of STIKUBANK University, Semarang. Results show a significant reduction in moisture content, with the highest reduction found in crackers (92.5%). Regression and ANOVA analysis confirmed that temperature and drying time significantly affect drying efficiency, while humidity has less impact. The system improved hygiene, consistency, and reduced weather dependency, making it a suitable solution for MSME productivity. Keywords: Arduino, Drying, Efficiency, IoT, Sensor
