Abstract

Managing common ailments is a growing service in developing countries. Community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians managing common ailments are essential for improving treatment outcomes. While common ailment services have been successfully implemented in developed countries, Indonesia needs more documentation of these practices. This study aimed to document the scopes of community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in managing common ailments, their practices, and the perceived experience in providing these services. These cross-sectional surveys were conducted from May to June 2023 in separate pharmacists’ and pharmacy technicians’ seminars in Surakarta, Indonesia. Binary logistic regression compared the pharmacists' and pharmacy technicians' perceptions of managing ailments. A total of 180 pharmacists and 140 pharmacy technicians participated. Among 13 common ailments listed in the survey, acute pain (P<0.001) was an ailment that was perceived as limited to a pharmacist's scope. Ailments such as dandruff, constipation and mild headache were perceived to be within the scope of a pharmacy technician (P<0.001). Given the differing approaches by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, there is a need to ensure that each professional practices within their area of scope.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure and tax avoidance on the cost of capital, with firm size serving as a moderating variable. The population of this study consists of all companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) that have been included in the SRI-KEHATI index at least once, focusing on the 2018-2021 period. The sample was obtained through a purposive sampling method, and a total of 121 companies were included in the analysis. The results of the study show that ESG disclosure has a negative effect on the cost of capital, indicating that companies with better ESG practices can reduce their cost of capital. Conversely, tax avoidance was found to have a positive effect on the cost of capital, suggesting that companies engaging in tax avoidance face higher costs of capital due to the perceived risks or uncertainties related to their tax practices. Additionally, firm size was found to strengthen the relationship between ESG disclosure and tax avoidance on the cost of capital, indicating that larger firms experience more pronounced effects of ESG practices and tax strategies on their capital costs. This research contributes to the understanding of how ESG disclosure and tax strategies influence financing costs, especially for larger firms in the Indonesian market.

Abstract

Even if the Indonesian economy has grown and the stock market has improved after COVID-19, banking stock returns in Indonesia have remained stagnant. The returns on Indonesian banking stocks in 2022 were much lower than in prior years. Identifying the internal and external variables that contributed to the fall in these shares is an obvious challenge. The purpose of this study is to investigate how return on assets (ROA) acts as a mediator between inflation, interest rates, non-performing loans, and stock returns. Thirty businesses make up the sample for this study, which employs testing methodologies including multiple regression and route analysis. Additionally, in order to find the indirect impact, the Sobel test must be used. This study found that stock returns are positively affected by inflation and return on assets, but unaffected by interest rates and non-performing loans. Unlike inflation and interest rates, return on assets can moderate the impact of non-performing loans on stock returns. stock performance. Things that could affect future returns should be carefully considered by investors.
