Abstract

Global climate change is a critical issue affecting the sustainability of projects, especially in the mineral and coal mining industry. At PT Putra Perkasa Abadi, climate change was identified as the highest risk in the company's risk management profile, impacting mining operations. One significant effect is the inconsistency between planned and actual rain hours, leading to high rainfall, which hampers production and productivity targets. Dewatering management, which deals with rainwater filling the sump, is particularly affected. In extreme weather, workers must operate pumps, a high-risk activity near water. The increased frequency of pump operations during 2024’s high rainfall heightens accident risks. To mitigate this, the company developed SIC-MUFS, a tool that allows remote pump operation. This system enables workers to avoid crossing the sump in dangerous weather conditions and can also monitor the water level automatically. If the water reaches critical levels, SIC-MUFS sends notifications to the Central Control Room (CCR) for further action.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a vital role in the Indonesian economy, but their sustainability is highly dependent on the implementation of effective management strategies. This article analyzes the strategic and business management practices of Iwatik Batik Balikpapan MSMEs, a group fostered by the Balikpapan City Cooperatives, MSMEs, and Industry Office established by Sri Sunarti since 2015. Using a qualitative descriptive analysis approach, this article examines how Iwatik applies differentiation strategies through typical Kalimantan batik motifs such as squid arches, karamunting fruits, marsh bags, tiwai onions, and mangroves. The SWOT analysis identified Iwatik's competitive advantage in the quality of hand-painted batik and the uniqueness of local motifs, as well as great opportunities from the momentum of moving the National Capital City (IKN) of the archipelago to East Kalimantan. The results of the analysis show that Iwatik's success lies in the implementation of product differentiation strategies, market development, sustainable innovation, and the integration of the social mission of women's empowerment with cultural preservation. Iwatik also leverages digital marketing and strategic partnerships with governments and corporations to expand its market reach. These findings provide an important lesson for other MSMEs that differentiation based on local excellence, sensitivity to external opportunities, strong branding, and commitment to quality are the keys to sustainability and business growth. This article concludes that with the right strategic management, culture-based MSMEs like Iwatik can compete in a competitive market while preserving cultural heritage and having a positive socio-economic impact on society.

Abstract

Malaria can be experienced by anyone, from children to adults. The cause of malaria is infection by Plasmodium parasites, transmitted through Anopheles mosquito bites. Malaria is an environment-based disease. Although many cases of malaria are mild and can resolve on their own, it remains a condition that bothers sufferers and can lead to complications. Therefore, malaria must be addressed as soon as possible. One factor contributing to stunting is recurrent malaria infection. Infectious diseases like malaria, accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, can cause children to lose fluids and essential nutrients. To prevent stunting, programs are needed to increase public awareness of environmental health. This requires efforts to enhance public knowledge through community empowerment. The method implemented was the provision of malaria prevention cadre training using insecticide-treated nets because the role of malaria cadres is vital in breaking the chain of transmission. The program took place in May 2025 in Ravenirara District, Jayapura Regency. It was attended by 2 malaria cadres. To strengthen their role, education was delivered through counseling, training, and mentoring. Counseling aimed to increase and reinforce cadres' knowledge about malaria, training provided skills in using insecticide-treated nets, and mentoring equipped them to educate the community.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology in this era has driven people's need for information, which is increasingly diverse. In this context, Indonesia requires that every change take into account the social aspects of society. As explained by Soejono Soekanto, changes in the legal realm do not always occur simultaneously or simultaneously. This also indicates a gap that needs to be addressed in technology. The use of social media is not limited to activities but has also penetrated the business world, including the auction process. The increasingly easy access to online auctions through social media has also impacted issues related to information and communication technology, necessitating a method that can resolve and provide solutions to these issues. This research uses a normative juridical approach by examining laws and regulations, legal doctrine, and contract standards to address legal issues in the auction implementation system, specifically regulated in Minister of Finance Regulation No. 213/PMK.06/2020 concerning Auction Implementation Guidelines, one of the main regulations. These regulations relate to the legal basis and procedures, rights and obligations of the parties in the auction process.

Abstract

Neuroscience-based learning is an educational approach that emphasizes the integration of how the brain, emotions, and children’s learning experiences interact. This research aims to analyze the role of neuroscience-based learning in early childhood education as an effort to develop character holistically. Through a literature review of various theories and previous research findings, this study highlights how positive stimulation, a safe learning environment, and healthy social interaction contribute to brain development and the formation of children’s character values. The results of the study show that learning aligned with the brain’s working mechanisms can foster empathy, independence, responsibility, and self-control. In addition, this approach encourages teachers to act as facilitators who understand differences in children’s learning styles and create brain-friendly learning environments. Although its implementation in Indonesia still faces challenges, particularly regarding educators’ neuroscience literacy, this approach has the potential to become an essential foundation for early childhood character education in the future. Thus, neuroscience-based learning not only develops intellectual intelligence but also nurtures strong, empathetic, and humanistic character from an early age.

Abstract

Acute Lupus Pneumonitis (ALP) is a rare pulmonary complication of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) with a mortality rate of up to 50%. The greatest challenge for clinicians is identifying this condition amid symptoms that closely resemble severe pneumonia or pulmonary edema, to ensure appropriate management. This case report aims to describe the diagnostic challenges, clinical presentation, and therapeutic response of ALP in an SLE patient presenting with acute respiratory failure, and to emphasize the importance of early high-dose corticosteroid therapy. A 40-year-old woman with SLE presented with progressive dyspnea, cough, and fever lasting one week. She rapidly developed severe hypoxemic respiratory failure, with an oxygen saturation of 58% on room air and a PaO₂/FiO₂ ratio of 42 mmHg, consistent with severe ARDS. Chest X-ray revealed extensive bilateral infiltrates with a normal cardiac silhouette. Laboratory findings showed thrombocytopenia and lymphopenia, suggesting active lupus disease activity, while negative culture results excluded bacterial infection. The patient received High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy and immediate pulse-dose methylprednisolone. Within 24 hours, oxygenation improved markedly (PaO₂/FiO₂ ratio 162 mmHg). After 10 days, she achieved full recovery and was discharged without oxygen supplementation. Acute Lupus Pneumonitis should be suspected in SLE patients presenting with severe hypoxemia and bilateral infiltrates after excluding cardiogenic and infectious causes. Early initiation of high-dose corticosteroids is crucial to reducing mortality. A systematic diagnostic approach combined with prompt immunosuppressive therapy is essential for achieving optimal outcomes.

Abstract

Drilling mud is a drilling fluid used to transport cuttings to the surface and assist in identifying subsurface formation layers; therefore, proper drilling mud design is essential for the success of drilling operations. One common problem in drilling activities is insufficient mud viscosity, which necessitates the addition of additives. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is commonly used to improve mud viscosity; however, its synthetic nature may pose environmental concerns. This research investigates the use of organic waste in the form of sunflower seed shells as an environmentally friendly alternative additive. Sunflower seed shells contain natural components, including cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which may enhance mud viscosity. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of sunflower seed shell powder on the rheological properties of drilling mud and to compare its performance with that of CMC. The research was conducted through laboratory experiments at the STT Migas Balikpapan Laboratory. Rheological tests included viscosity over time, plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength, mud cake thickness, and filtration loss. Mud samples were prepared with the addition of CMC and sunflower seed shell powder at concentrations of 1 g, 3 g, and 5 g. The results show that increasing the concentration of sunflower seed shell powder improves the rheological properties of drilling mud and reduces filtration loss. Although its performance is lower than that of CMC, sunflower seed shell powder demonstrates potential as an environmentally friendly alternative additive for drilling mud.

Abstract

Collective pride is the feeling of pride that arises when others with whom we identify as a group accomplish an achievement. One of the groups in question is the generation, which is then referred to as generational identity. Each group in social identity theory has its own behavioral characteristics, including how they express pride in both their own achievements and those of others. This study aims to describe the characteristics of Generation Z as a generational identity related to pride. This research uses a qualitative method with a grounded theory approach. Data for this study were obtained through an interview process with three informants. The results of this study found that: 1) the tendency to overthink causes Generation Z to be reluctant to show their pride; 2) Generation Z's attachment to technology makes them show their achievements through social media; 3) Generation Z feels proud of their achievements due to the long process involved; and 4) there is empathetic involvement in the collective pride felt by Generation Z. The study concludes that collective pride in Generation Z is shaped by a combination of internal psychological tendencies, technological engagement, and empathy within a collectivist cultural context, all of which influence both the expression and experience of pride.
