Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of mathematical representation in solving algebraic problems in terms of the ability level of students at SMPN 4 Tanjung, the Academic Year 2021/2022. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The sample used was 27 students with the sampling technique used was purposive random sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests and interviews. Based on the results of student test analysis, it was found that (1) the number of subjects in the high category was 6 students, indicating that the visual, symbolic, and verbal indicators were able to solve problems correctly and completely (2) the number of subjects in the medium category was 9 students. , shows that the visual, symbolic, and verbal indicators can state the problem but are incomplete (3) Furthermore, the number of subjects in the low category is 12 students, indicating that students have not been able to achieve the indicators of symbolic and verbal mathematical representation ability. The results of the research on students' mathematical representation abilities are 44.65%, the percentage value obtained from students' mathematical representation abilities on visual indicators is 18.31% in the high category, students' mathematical representation abilities on symbolic indicators are 15.43% in the medium category, then the ability students' mathematical representation of verbal indicators obtained 10.90% in the low category. This research on the ability of mathematical representation uses 3 indicators, namely visual or image representation, symbolic or expression, and verbal or written text words for further development by looking at other representational abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe errors in solving indefinite integral problems of algebraic functions based on Newman's procedure in terms of the category of mathematical ability. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research subject is class XII IPS 1 SMAN 5 Mataram in the academic year 2022/2023. The results showed (1) High-ability students made mistakes at the process skill stage due to the lack of giving practice questions using the partial method. (2) Students who are capable are making mistakes at the transformation stage due to incorrectly substituting the values ​​obtained at the example stage, and errors in the process skill stage because they cannot simplify terms containing the variable x. (3) Low-ability students make mistakes at the reading stage because they don't know the mention of the "∫" symbol, errors in the comprehension stage because they don't understand the question commands, and errors in the process skill stage because they can't operate fractions. errors at the reading stage because they could not read the symbol "∫", errors at the comprehension stage because they did not understand the meaning of dy and did not understand determining the term to be used, errors at the transformation stage due to not being able to change the form of the question to match the formula for the substitution method and partial as well as errors at the process skill stage for not understanding the steps of the substitution and partial method.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the mistakes made by students and the factors that cause mistakes made by students in solving algebraic form problems in terms of Polya steps. This type of research is descriptive and qualitative. The sample used was 28 students with the sampling technique used being proportionate stratified random sampling. Data collection techniques are carried out by tests and interviews. Based on the analysis of student test results, error were obtained by students in each question item, namely, errors in understanding the problem, errors in drawing up plans, errors in implementing plan, and errors in re-examining. The results showed that the percentage of mistakes made by students in the whole question was 44% errors in understanding the problem with sufficient categories, 36% errors in drafting plans with low categories, errors in implementing plan by 33% with low categories, and errors in re-examining by 61% with high category. The cause of students' mistakes in solving algebraic form questions is that students are not careful in reading the questions and in writing down their work, do not understand the questions or prerequisite materials, both the nature, formulas, or procedures for working on the questions, the desire to answer briefly to things that are known and asked. As well as students are not used to re-examining.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of students’ problem solving ability in solving comparative material. This research is qualitative research designed to determine the level of mathematical problem solving ability of students in the subject of comparison. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Mataram with a total of 127 students. The sampling technique used is a non- probability sampling technique with purposive sampling type. Collecting data in the form of tests and interviews. The instrument used is in the form of a problem-solving ability test which consists of 2 questions. The data analysis technique uses qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results of this study indicate that the level of problem solving ability of students is mostly in the medium category with an average of 68.37. The level of mathematical problem solving ability was grouped into three categories, from 25 students it was found that 7 students had high problem solving abilities or with a percentage (28 %), students with moderate problem solving abilities were 9 students (%), and students with low problem solving abilities as many as 9 students (36 %).

Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ mathematical communication skills in terms of learning outcomes in the one-variable linear equation material. The resreach method used in description test and interview. The subjects in this study wrw 26 students. This type of resreach is descriptive qualitative resreach. Based on data analysis 1) students with an average score of 90 have high mathematical communication skills, 2) students with an average score of 89,8 have moderate mathematical communication skills and 3) students with an average score of 83,5 have low mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the problem solving process of impulsive students on linear programs. The subject of this research are 2 students that already learned about linear programs. The problem solving process of impulsive student are: (1) at first, student gathering information, then the information are being translated to mathematics model without making any table, (2) there is no problem modification therefore objective function are incorrect, (3) determining coordinate points to draw graphic and feasible solution, (4) determining intersection using substitution method and elimination method, (5) conducting the corner point method. However, the result are incorrect because objective function are incorrect

Abstract

This study aims to develop a monopoly game as a learning medium in class VIII opportunity material at SMPN 1 Narmada that is valid and practical. The type of research used is development research by adopting five steps in the ADDIE stage, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The sample in this study was class VIII.3, which consisted of 30 students. The data collection technique was a questionnaire to measure the validity of the media which was distributed to 5 validators namely 2 mathematics lecturers at the University of Mataram and 3 mathematics teachers at SMPN 1 Narmada and student response questionnaires which were used to measure the practicality of the media which were distributed to class VIII.3. The results showed that the calculation of the learning media validation questionnaire was declared valid based on the Aiken index category with a value of V = 0.898 and the student response questionnaire results obtained were Practical based on the practicality category with a percentage value of 76%. Based on the results of these calculations, it is stated that this learning media can already be used for learning in schools, especially in the subject of opportunities.

Abstract

Creativity is an important ability for students to have today in facing the challenges of dynamic educational development. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on student creativity in developing mathematics learning innovations. The subjects of this research were students of the Mathematics Education study program class 3A who were taking the Teaching and Learning course. The research method used is descriptive-quantitative with steps including: 1) problem identification, 2) reviewing literature related to PjBL models and creativity, 3) collecting and analyzing data, and 4) drawing conclusions. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets and tests. The results of this study indicate that the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is effective in increasing students' creativity in developing mathematics learning innovations. Therefore, the PjBL Model can be used as an alternative learning that can develop students' creativity in making lecture work.

Abstract

This research is determine the increase in students' concentration in study mathematics at SDN Wanasari 01. The subjects in this study were 36 elementary school students. This research method is classroom action research which consists of four components, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, that in cycle 1 the process of learning mathematics was said to be not good enough, because most students still lacked concentration on learning. In addition, the teacher's use of the picture and picture model has not been fully implemented at every meeting. Meanwhile, in cycle 2, students' concentration in mathematics has increased.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on problem-solving abilities. The benefits of research for researchers are as an exercise in carrying out scientific research and for teachers, it is to increase the self-efficacy of students in the classroom so that they can improve problem-solving abilities. This research was a type of quantitative research using simple linear regression analysis techniques. This research was carried out at MA NW Putri Narmada for the 2021/2022 academic year. With a population of all class X MA NW Putri Narmada and a sample of 61 students. The data collection instrument used questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires were used to obtain data about students' self-efficacy, while tests were used to obtain data about students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The results showed that self-efficacy had an effect on the mathematical problem-solving ability of students of class X MA NW Putri Narmada with an effect of 30.3%, while the level of self-efficacy relationship with mathematical problem-solving skills was 0.55 with a moderate level of relationship. student learning, the more knowledge the student has and the better the mathematical problem-solving ability of the student, so students who have high self-efficacy will be more diligent and enthusiastic in learning.
