Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of the Socratic method in modern education. The purpose of this research is to improve the critical thinking skills of eighth grade students when they study the Pythagorean content in mathematics through the use of the Socratic approach. The Socratic technique is one of them. The Socratic dialogue learning strategy is based on the idea that knowledge and higher-order thinking skills can be developed through collaborative question and answer sessions between students and instructors and between students, making use of verbal and non-verbal cues. The results of research conducted at SMAN 15 Bandarlampung show that compared to students who are taught using more conventional methods, students who are exposed to the Socratic approach have a much greater increase in critical thinking skills. More than 75% of students are actively involved in the learning process, and most of those who participate do so effectively. It was found that the Socratic method was effective in eliciting thoughtful responses from the class

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mathematical disposition and self-efficacy on mathematics learning outcomes for students of class XI IPA and IPA at SMAN 4 Wajo. The type of research used is ex-post facto research with a sample of 85 students from the population of class XI IPA and IPA at SMAN 4 Wajo, which were selected using the saturated sampling technique. The instrument used the following for data collection technique are questionnaire (a mathematical disposition and a self-efficacy) and a mathematics learning outcome test. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical for hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the hypothesis test in this study indicate that: (1) there is a positive and significant effect of mathematical disposition on students’ mathematics learning outcomes, (2) there is a no positive and significant effect of self-efficacy on students’ mathematics learning outcomes, and (3) there is the positive and significant influence of mathematical disposition and self-efficacy together on students’ mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research that aims to improve student learning outcomes through the STEAM learning approach in Integral calculus courses. The populations in this study were all students taking the Integral Calculus course using a purposive sampling technique. The research design used was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. Data were obtained from student learning outcomes tests in the form of pre-test and post-test. Data analysis used Mann-Whitney. The results showed that the sig (2-tailed) value for the experimental class was 0.000 <0.05, which means that the integration of the STEAM approach to Integral Calculus courses can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang dilaksanakan selama dua siklus, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran matematika melalui penggunaan model kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) pada pokok bahasan sukubanyak siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau sebanyak 32 orang dengan komposisi 12 orang siswa laki-laki dan 20 orang siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Skor rata-rata siswa pada Siklus I adalah 74,64 dari skor ideal 100 dengan standar deviasi 11,8. Siswa yang tuntas belajar secara individu sebanyak 22 orang. (2) Skor rata-rata siswa pada siklus II yaitu 82,19 dari skor ideal 100 dengan standar deviasi 9,9. Siswa yang tuntas belajar secara individu sebanyak 30 orang. (3) Terjadi peningkatan keaktifan dan perhatian siswa dalam belajar matematika baik pada saat pembelajaran maupun dalam kelompoknya. (4) Respons positif yang ditunjukkan siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) mencapai 88,4%. Dari hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran matematika pada pokok bahasan sukubanyak siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajara matematika melalui model pembelajaran Direct Intruction di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Pinrang. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol melalui model pengajaran direct instruction. Model pengajaran Direct Instruction memberikan kesempatan siswa belajar dengan mengamati secara selektif, mengingat dan menirukan apa yang dimodelkan gurunya. Hasil belajar matematika peserta didik yang diajar dengan pembelajaran Direct Instruction lebih tinggi dari rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik yang diajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik kelas eksperimen adalah 77,774 sedangkan rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik kelas kontrol adalah 70,194. Oleh karena itu jelas adanya perbedaan hasil belajar antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the effect of the RME (Realistic Mathematics Education) approach on students' mathematical connection abilities of class VIII MTs. Al-Aziziyah Putri Kapek Gunungsari for the 2022/2023 school year. This research is experimental research using a posttest-only control group design. The population in this study was all class VIII with a total of 7 classes. While the sample in this study there were 2 classes, namely class VIII-7 as the experimental class and VIII-6 as the control class. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. Data collection was carried out using a mathematical connection ability test. The data obtained were processed with SPSS. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the test results of the students' mathematical connection abilities with the RME approach are higher than conventional learning. This can be seen from the average value of the experimental class 65 and the control class 56.57. The results of the data analysis shows. The value means that there is an influence of the RME approach on the students' mathematical connection abilities. The magnitude of the influence given is 5.75%, which means that the effect of the RME approach on the ability of mathematical connections is not large.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the CORE learning model based on contextual problems on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of SMPN 1 Masbagik students in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is a quantitative-research with a quasi-experimental research type. The population in this study were all class IX students of SMPN 1 Masbagik for the 2022/2023 academic year with a total of 286 students. The sample selection technique used purposive sampling with a sample of 62 students consisting of two classes. Data collection used the test method with 3 description questions. The instruments in this study were lesson plans, worksheets, test questions. The data analysis technique used is parametric statistics. The results of data analysis obtained 2,000. which indicates that there is a difference in the average problem-solving ability between the experimental group and the control group. An increase in the average value indicates an increase in problem-solving abilities in the experimental group caused by the treatment given, namely the contextual problem-based CORE learning model, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of applying the contextual problem-based CORE learning model on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of class IX students of SMPN 1 Masbagik.

Abstract

Artikel dilatar belakangi oleh rasa keingintahuan peneliti mengenai penggunaan model discovery learning yang diintegrasikan strategi konflik kognitif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Berdasarkan hasil observasi beberapa peneliti bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa masih tergolong rendah, salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan hal tersebut karena kurang efektifnya model dan strategi pembelajaran yang digunakan selama pembelajaran berlangsung di kelas. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara model discovery learning dengan strategi konflk kognitif serta merancang hubungan langkah-langkah pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan model discovery learning dengan strategi konflik kognitif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Melalui rancangan pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran matetamatika dan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian ini mengacu pada jenis penelitian kualitatif, yang sumber informasinya adalah literatur, artikel, majalah dan website yang berkaitan dengan penelitian yang dilakukan. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur. Pencarian literatur sebagai teknik pengumpulan data kualitatif dilakukan dengan mencari dokumen yang relevan dengan topik penelitian.

Abstract

This study aims to developed and produced a Prezi-based mathematics learning media and to determined the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the learning media to increasing student interest in learning. The type of this study was Research and Development which refers to the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE. The results showed that the learning media was declared valid by the media expert validator with a total average of 3,62 and the material expert validator with a total average of 3,88. The learning media was declared practical judging by the positive and very positive responses givin by students and teacher, namely 83% and 89%. The learning media was declared effective because it was able to increase students’ learning interest seen from the increase in the average students’ learning interest before and sfter using the learning media from 46 to 62 and the result of the n-gain analysis of 0,60 which indicated an increase in students’ learning interest which was included in the “medium” category

Abstract

This research aims to describe the problem-solving ability in math word problems of the material of the system of linear equations with two variables for ninth-grade students of SMPN 6 Mataram in the academic year of 2022/2023 with high, medium, and low problem-solving abilities. This research is a descriptive-qualitative and quantitative type, using a test of problem-solving ability and interviews as research instruments. The sample consisted of 38 ninth-grade students of SMPN 6 Mataram, selected using purposive sampling. After selecting one class, a test of problem-solving ability was given, consisting of two-word problems, followed by an interview for each criterion of problem-solving ability test results. Data analysis technique was based on the results of the math problem-solving test, divided into three criteria: high, medium, and low. The results showed that (1) the problem-solving ability of ninth-grade students of SMPN 6 Mataram in solving math word problems of the material of the system of linear equations with two variables with high criteria had an average score of 85.3, (2) the problem-solving ability of ninth-grade students of SMPN 6 Mataram in solving math word problems of the material of the system of linear equations with two variables with medium criteria had an average score of 62.8, and (3) the problem-solving ability of ninth-grade students of SMPN 6 Mataram in solving math word problems of the material of the system of linear equations with two variables with low criteria had an average score of 31.9.
