Abstract

This community service program was conducted at Beloh Public Elementary School, Mojokerto, aiming to enhance teachers’ technological literacy skills through the use of Scratch, a visual programming language. The main problem faced by the partner school was the limited integration of technology in the teaching process, which remained largely conventional and less engaging for students. The implementation method consisted of needs analysis, module preparation, and intensive training delivered in three stages: introduction to Scratch, practical development of interactive learning media, and publication of the outputs for classroom application. The results indicate that teachers were able to design creative and interactive learning media that fostered greater student engagement. This program demonstrates that systematic mentoring can encourage teachers to be more innovative in integrating technology, while also establishing the foundation for continuous collaboration in improving the quality of elementary education. Key words: Technological literacy, Scratch, Learning media

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Kalimat Al-Af’al Al-Yaumiyah book in teaching Arabic vocabulary and to identify the challenges encountered during its implementation. The book, authored by Abuya Al-Habib Hasan bin Ahmad Baharun, contains 540 vocabulary items focused on daily action verbs, systematically arranged in past tense (fi'il madhi), present tense (fi'il mudhari’), and infinitive (masdar) forms, and equipped with contextual usage examples. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through direct classroom observation and documentation of learning activities. The results show that the use of the Kalimat Al-Af’al Al-Yaumiyah book is effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery due to its contextual, easy-to-memorize, and practically applicable content. The learning process is conducted in three stages: the initial stage (introduction and material review), the core stage (pronunciation practice, writing, meaning comprehension, and sentence construction), and the final stage (evaluation and memorization tasks). However, several obstacles were identified, both internal (lack of motivation, laziness, psychological factors) and external (learning environment, monotonous methods, limited facilities). The researcher proposes solutions such as engaging teaching methods, interactive learning strategies, special attention to less active students, and providing motivation and rewards to enhance learning enthusiasm. In conclusion, the Kalimat Al-Af’al Al-Yaumiyah book is considered an effective and practical medium for teaching Arabic vocabulary and can be widely implemented in various educational institutions with the support of appropriate teaching methods and strategies.

Abstract

MSMEs in Magelang City play a vital role in driving local economic growth and creating jobs for the community. However, one of the main challenges faced by business owners in this area is the low level of understanding and implementation of proper bookkeeping systems. Many MSMEs in Magelang City still maintain unstructured manual records, and most of them lack any financial records at all. Therefore, activities to be carried out include financial literacy education and training, as MSMEs in Magelang City require a better understanding of the importance of proper bookkeeping, from preparing simple financial reports to accurately recording cash flow. This training will help them manage their business finances more efficiently and in a structured manner. The purpose of this community service program is to improve MSME owners' understanding of the basic concepts of financial literacy, such as financial record keeping, cash flow management, and financial planning. Furthermore, this community service program is expected to provide training on access to formal financing, including banking through People's Business Credit (KUR).

Abstract

The improper management of used cooking oil poses risks of environmental pollution and adverse health impacts. On the other hand, eco-enzyme has recently gained attention as a natural additive in environmentally friendly products. This study aimed to formulate solid soap using vegetable oils, used cooking oil, and eco-enzyme, as well as to evaluate its pH and organoleptic properties. Three soap formulations were prepared using NaOH as the base: Formula A (used cooking oil), Formula B (vegetable oils), and Formula C (vegetable oils with eco-enzyme). The required amount of NaOH was calculated using SoapCalc to ensure a balanced saponification reaction. The soaps were produced using the cold process method and cured for one month prior to testing. Organoleptic evaluation was conducted by panelists based on color, aroma, texture, foam, and skin feel, while pH was measured using Universal Test Paper. The results showed that Formula A (used cooking oil) retained a distinctive odor, but was still acceptable to panelists with an average organoleptic score of 3.2 (neutral) and a pH of 10. Formula B (palm, coconut, and olive oils) was favored in terms of appearance, aroma, texture, foam, and skin sensation, with an average score of 4.0 and a pH of 8. The addition of eco-enzyme in Formula C produced a fresher aroma and was the most preferred by panelists, achieving the highest average score of 4.2, with a pH of 7. All three formulations met the pH requirements of SNI 3532:2021. These findings indicate that SoapCalc is effective in designing balanced formulations, while the utilization of used cooking oil and eco-enzyme shows potential in producing environmentally friendly solid soaps.

Abstract

The increasingly rapid development of industry can cause environmental pollution from the wastewater produced. Industrial wastewater contains heavy metal ions, one of which is iron (Fe). The danger of Fe metal can have a negative impact on living things and the environment so it needs to be minimized and eliminated. Adsorption has been proven to be an effective method in reducing the levels of heavy metal ions in waste. In the adsorption process, the most important thing is the adsorbent. Allophane and quartz sand are natural materials that can be used as adsorbents. This study is expected to determine the adsorbent capacity of allophane and quartz sand against iron (Fe) metal ions. The adsorption process was carried out in 2 variations, namely variations in the mass composition of the adsorbent (0:100; 25:75; 50:50; 75:25; 100:0) and variations in contact time (15, 30, 60, 90, 120). Measurement of adsorption capacity using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The results showed that the optimal results for variations in the mass composition of allophane and quartz sand adsorbents were 50:50 with an adsorption capacity of 0.81325 mg/g and an absorption percentage of 67.67%. The optimal contact time was 60 minutes with an adsorption capacity of 0.81677 mg/g and an absorption percentage of 67.97%. This study showed that a mixture of allophane and quartz sand can be used as an effective adsorbent for the adsorption of heavy metal iron (Fe).

Abstract

Plastic pollution, particularly microplastics, is a global environmental issue with far-reaching impacts on ecosystems and human health. This review examines the effects of plastics across various ecosystems in Indonesia, including marine, riverine, mangrove, terrestrial, livestock, and human systems. Findings reveal that microplastics are present in fish, zooplankton, corals, and in marine and mangrove sediments. In rivers, plastics contribute to declining local fish populations and hormonal disorders. On land, microplastics inhibit plant growth, disrupt soil structure, and have been detected in chickens and ducks. For humans, microplastic consumption in Indonesia reaches approximately 15 grams per month, with particles detected in the gastrointestinal tract and daily consumables. Such exposure may cause allergic reactions, cell damage, and chronic diseases. These findings highlight that plastic pollution in Indonesia is not only an environmental problem but also a significant public health threat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how online media frame the Military Barrack Program initiated by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi as a response to rising juvenile delinquency. Employing a qualitative approach and Robert Entman’s framing analysis model, the research examines four key elements: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The data were collected from online news articles published by four major national media outlets Tempo.co, Detik.com, Kompas.com, and CNNIndonesia.com between January and June 2025. The findings indicate that most media outlets frame the program positively, emphasizing character-building and discipline, portraying military intervention as a legitimate solution to youth behavioral problems. Criticism regarding child rights violations and psychological impacts appears only as marginal counter-narratives and does not dominate the overall discourse. Media framing plays a significant role in shaping public perception and legitimizing this controversial policy. This study contributes to media studies, local politics, and public policy discourse, and recommends expanding the scope to include local and alternative media through mixed-methods approaches for a more comprehensive understanding.
