FOCUS AND SCOPE Enggang adalah jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Enggang dipilih sebagai nama jurnal ini karena kehidupan masyarakat Kalimantan Tengah tidak jauh dari alam, termasuk kedekatannya pada burung yang bernama enggang. Burung enggang merupakan simbol kebesaran dan kemuliaan suku Dayak di Kalimantan Tengah. Burung enggang juga melambangkan perdamaian dan persatuan, sayapnya yang tebal melambangkan pemimpin yang selalu melindungi rakyatnya. Ekor panjangnya dianggap sebagai tanda kemakmuran rakyat suku Dayak. Kaitannya dengan jurnal ini, tidak lain adalah mengambil makna filosofis kebesaran burung enggang agar jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya ini, nantinya menjadi besar yang akan dikenal secara lokal, nasional, dan internasional. Jurnal Enggang sebagai jurnal pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya merupakan salah satu wadah untuk mengumpulkan dan melestarikan kekayaan kita yang tidak ternilai harganya. Tentunya kekayaan yang berhubungan dengan pendidikan bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Jurnal ini hadir untuk siapa saja yang mencintai dan ingin berkarya di bidang pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya. Selain itu, kami sebagai pengurus jurnal ini bersedia memberikan bimbingan dan pelatihan untuk siapa saja yang ingin maju dan berkompeten dalam hal menulis karya fiksi maupun nonfiksi. Melalui bimbingan dan pelatihan pasti gairah menulis para calon pendidik, para pendidik, dan para pecinta pendidikan, bahasa, sastra, seni, dan budaya bangkit dengan semangat membara. This research aims to determine the relevance of Muhadharah activities to the public speaking ability of students at MAN 1 Kampar. This type of research is correlational research using a quantitative approach. The population in this study was 75 people using total sampling data collection techniques, i.e., making the entire population the sample. The data collection techniques are observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses the product-moment correlation test. The results obtained in this research are rcount 0.647 > rtable at the 5% significance level (0.227), and at the 1% significance level (0.296), it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, there is a positive relevance of muhadharah activities to the public speaking skills of students at MAN 1 Kampar. The contribution of muhadharah activities to the public speaking skills of students in this study was 41.9%, while 58.1% was influenced or explained by other variables.

This article discusses the influence of mutual understanding of material counseling on attitudes of social concern in the learning of Islamic religion education in high schools in Cendana Pekanbaru. This type of research is quantitative research on correlation forms. Sampling in this study used the simple random sampling technique, so we found samples of a total of 24 people. Data collection techniques are observation, documentation, and lifting. Technical data analysis using the product moment technique found that the known value of R count is 0.027. While the R table known is 0.413, So it is known that 0.027 < 0.413, which means there is no significant relationship between the understanding of material mutually advised and the social concerns of the pupils at Cendana Pekanbaru High School. Although the absence of influence between understandings of the material is mutually advised on the social interests of pupils, the excellent social care attitude that exists in pupils who attend Candana High School must be caused by various other factors. To list the various factors that must be considered when conducting additional research.

This research was conducted to determine the learning styles of students in social studies learning in class VII E of SMPN 10 Pontianak. The research approach used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it is clear that: 1. In implementing social studies learning, there are three stages carried out, namely a). Learning planning by creating learning tools that address students' learning styles, learning tools in the form of teaching modules, models, methods and media b). Implementation of learning with models, methods and learning media that are not commensurate with students' learning styles c). Learning evaluation includes formative and summative assessments 2. Learning styles of class students in learning in class VII E include: a). Visual learning style focuses on viewing image and video media b). Auditory learning style focuses on listening to lectures and discussions c). The kinesthetic learning style focuses on practice or moving using body movements as a guide. 3. The basis for this research was the student’s difficulties with reading comprehension. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of using a Genre-based approach on student’s ability to comprehend descriptive text better. This research was carried out at SMPN 4 Sungai Raya on the eighth-grade students in class D in the academic year 2017/2018. The results of this research showed that, following the application of the Genre-based approach, students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text improved. In addition, the approach’s application enhanced the students’ positive responses to the learning activities, which in turn improved students’ learning interest toward reading. To summarize, the research findings proved that the implementation of a Genre-based approach improves the student’s reading comprehension of descriptive text in the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Sungai Raya Kabupaten Kubu Raya in the academic year 2017/2018.

Gender inequality is a social injustice that distinguishes men and women in society. Inequality from the gender aspect is a hot issue in many circles, one of which is among campus students. The purpose of this study is to determine the understanding of the concept of gender equality among new students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia to be applied in student life, especially in the field of education. This study used a descriptive quantitative and survey approach. The study involved 136 new students from eight faculties at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Data were collected through the use of a closed-ended questionnaire that could be accessed through a Google form link. A simple random sampling method was used to distribute the questionnaire to new students in each department online. The results of this study indicate that new students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia still encounter many cases of gender discrimination in the campus environment, and the results show that they understand and partly take part in the manifestation of gender equality.

The article entitled "The Process of Creating Abimantra Dance Works at the 2023 Indonesian Arts Festival (FKI) in Denpasar Bali", intends to explain analytically the process of creating dance works in the context of the 2023 FKI competition or competition which opens up opportunities for the best students at higher education institutes art, to emerge as a champion. Looking at the facts of the process of creating Abhimantra dance works created in the context of this competition, it is interesting to discuss scientifically because it opens up discourse to understand the form of the work and the process of its creation in the context of competitions, where the characters are always under psychological pressure to win, represent a group or institution, and creative in the narrow space of competition rules. The formulation of the problem in this paper is to question 1) the form of the Abhimantra Dance Work and 2) the process of creating the Abhimantra Dance Work. The article research method used is qualitative research with participant observation data mining because the author is a dancer in the Abhimantra work. This article uses Sumandiyo Hadi's analytical theory regarding the form and process of creating dance works and Ahimsa Putra's analytical theory regarding the text and context of artistic works. Through this article it is concluded that 1) Abhimantra dance works are dance works in the form of duets or pairs that use the concept of surrealist dance work originating from the development of Surakarta Style vocabulary, exploration of large volume movements, risky extreme movements, and exploration of supporting elements of choreography such as costumes. , make-up, lighting and music, 2) the creation of this dance work cannot be done freely because it has to follow the technical guidelines for the competition, and 3) psychologically the creation of this dance is under the pressure of the desire to win the competition and 4) the Abhimantra dance work has distinctive choreography in the context competition interests. The writing of this scientific article considers that, in the process of creating Abhimantra dance works, creativity must be devoted to more creative energy in order to be able to create successful dance works in the context of competitions.

Students' understanding of reading is still low which is characterized by reading comprehension results below the criteria completeness, lack of interest in reading, not being able to determine the main idea and make conclusions appropriately and reading competence that is not optimal occurs in grade IV students of SDN Benua Riam. This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade students of SDN Benua Riam through the Scramble learning model. This research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research carried out in two cycles with reference to the Kemmis and Taggart model, which includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 18 fourth grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests according to reading comprehension indicators, which were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the Scramble learning model can improve students' reading comprehension learning outcomes. Teacher activities increased and met the success indicator of 92% with very good criteria. Students' activities increased and met the success indicator of 86% with very active criteria. Students' learning completeness increased from 39% in the first cycle and meeting to 83.3% at the end of cycle II. This increase shows that the use of the Scramble learning model can create fun learning, increase student participation, and improve student learning.

The article about Artistic Expression as a Media for Chinese and Javanese Social Moderation at the Chinese New Year Festival in Surakarta aims to build awareness about a public event which was deliberately constructed to communicate harmonious values, familiarize Surakarta society with diverse races and religions and has a history of racial conflict between Chinese. and Java. Through forms of artistic expression and symbols at the Chinese New Year Festival in Surakarta, the values of harmonization to live peacefully above diversity and dark history are voiced. This article was written using the perspective of structural semiotics theory to understand the moderation efforts made by the people of Sudiroprajan Village through the symbolization of art. This article examines the substance in the form of (1) the potential of festivals as a medium for cultural harmonization, (2) the forms and symbols of Chinese-Javanese harmonization in the Grebeg Sudiro Chinese New Year Festival in Surakarta, and (3) the mental modality of pluralism in the culture of Surakarta society. It is hoped that the results of the study in this article can inspire the growth of festivals or public events in Indonesia that promote harmonization between Indonesian society, which is full of diversity and prone to conflict.

This research was aimed at providing a media for teaching reading recount text of eighth-grade students by using the Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) method. This research was categorized as research and development. This research used three phases of ADDIE, namely Analyze, Design, and Develop. First, this research aims to analyze the 2013 Curriculum, the students’ needs, and the appropriate materials. Second, the research aims to design modules with the Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) method that can enhance the students’ reading ability. Third, this research is to develop the prototype, especially material design. The tool of data collecting is an interview sheet for English teacher, it used to be the data of students’ problems in class. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative analysis. This research provided results that students and teachers need modules that are able to improve reading skills in teaching-learning. This research concludes that the designing example of teaching reading recount text by using the Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) method to increases students’ reading skills, allow the students to attempt to achieve reading goals, and increases their interest in studying English.
