Abstract

E-government is gaining prominence, and more research is being conducted on the topic. This study aims to find out how familiar people are with e-government services, why they use or don't use them, and if there is a significant link between demographics and client awareness of e-governance Pag-IBIG Fund offers. A survey using Google forms was carried out to obtain the necessary information on the individuals working for Mang Inasal in Nueva Vizcaya. The study analyzed 191 replies to discover the characteristics that influenced their awareness and use of Pag-IBIG Fund's e-government services. Contrary to what has always been assumed, 71.2% of the respondents are aware of the E-Government services offered by Pag-IBIG Fund - this number shows a formidable familiarity among the people of Mang Inasal in Nueva Vizcaya. Using Spearman’s Correlation and analysis, it also indicated that there is no significant relationship between age (p=.247), educational degree (p=.391), and Income (p=.113) over the awareness of the E-Government Services offered by Pag-IBIG Fund. These insights should be helpful to academics, professionals, and decision-makers.

Abstract

The tripartite function of faculty members in higher education includes instruction, research, and extension. Built-in into this function was to produce of instructional materials for students’ and teachers’ consumption. The objective of this study was to evaluate computer-generated instructional materials (CGIMs) used in college geometry courses. To attain this, the researchers used descriptive-evaluative design. The respondents were the twenty (20) teachers teaching Geometry and Curriculum Development. The instruments used were the worktext and multimedia efficiency rating scale, usefulness, accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness rating scale. The result shows that in terms of physical attributes, objectives, content, exercises, and evaluation, the worktext has a “very high” efficiency level while in terms of content, physical attributes, and visual clarity the multimedia presentation achieved a “very high” efficiency level. It was also found that in terms of usefulness, accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness, the developed CGIM has attained a “very high” level. This means that the developed CGIM achieved an excellent level of instructional material development. CGIM is recommended as a way to improve the achievement, mental habits, and problem-solving skills of Geometry students.

Abstract

This study was purposely conducted to determine the preventive measures employed by the principals, teachers and school nurses in the elementary schools in Jolo and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever was also investigated. Moreover, the significant difference between the employment of preventive measures and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever were assessed. The descriptive method served as the research design of the study. In gathering data, a validated self-devised survey questionnaire was used and results were interpreted using the statistical tools of frequency, percentage, mean and chi-square. A focus group discussion was also conducted using interview guide questions tool, video recorded interviews and notes. The study revealed that majority of the preventive measures enumerated by the national agencies like Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Education were implemented by the principals, teachers and school nurses among the selected elementary schools in Jolo. These included information dissemination about dengue hemorrhagic fever, observation of strict environmental sanitation, giving advice to pupils on the application of mosquito repellant and placement of Department of Science and Technology OVI-Larvicidal Tap inside the classroom at least once a week. The item on protection of pupils from mosquito bites showed that spraying of insecticides in classroom was poorly implemented. Unfortunately, results revealed that there was poor implementation on school children’s wearing of prescribed uniforms. As to the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever, there were 38 reported cases among children from the data provided from the Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital and Sulu Provincial Hospital. The significant difference between the employment of preventive measures and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever were revealed and the hypotheses were rejected.

Abstract

The study was geared toward determining the influence of integrating Gamification in a Virtual Ecology (GIVE) in enhancing classroom engagement in physical education among senior high school students in a state university in Pampanga, Philippines. This qualitative-descriptive study included a complete enumeration of the Grade 12 Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) students who voluntarily participated in this qualitative investigation (n = 58) by responding to open-ended questions. Results of the open-ended questionnaire decipher the influence of gamification on students’ level of engagement and the barriers encountered upon its inclusion. The study utilized Braun and Clarke's Thematic Analysis strategy, which was aided by computer-assisted qualitative analysis software, MAXQDA Analytics Pro 2022. The study revealed two emerging themes that described the influence of gamification in the students' virtual ecology, namely: (1) the effects of the integration of gamified instruction on students’ engagement; and (2) students' problems in using gamified instruction. The findings of this study may predate the institutionalization of the prospective enhancement of the teacher’s capabilities through the aid of gamification to improve the classroom engagement of the students in a virtual ecology towards a better understanding of the lessons in physical education settings.

Abstract

In the Knowledge Process Outsourcing market, the Philippines is slowly gaining traction as a genuine challenger. Despite the effect of the pandemic, BPO industries in the Philippines continue to advance, with a promising future in the years ahead. The study focuses on the KPO practices in the Philippine setting and the factors affecting them. The researchers used a descriptive cross-sectional design to analyze the factors affecting the KPO industries and their practices. This study used a purposive sampling technique to 100 supervisory and key account managers as respondents from six BPO firms with KPO services. This study included measures of central tendency and inferential statistics to determine the relationship between KPO practices and the factors affecting them. The result of the study shows that among the three (3) KPO practices, the provider capability gained the highest level, followed by client-retained capacity and contractual governance. In addition, among the four (4) factors affecting KPO practices, regulatory aspects got the highest level, followed closely by innovative elements, technological factors, and human resource factors. Moreover, the study observed low to moderate associations between the KPO practices and the factors. Finally, the technological aspect emerged as a predictor of industry KPO practices.

Abstract

This study employed communicative language education to assist a subset of a public school in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, especially the Junior High School Grade 7 students, in improving their English-speaking abilities. The researchers used the Direct Teaching Method to conduct a teaching and learning process (Pre-test). The students were then given a speaking test. Following the pre-test, the researchers started the teaching-learning process by teaching Communicative Language. After two months of using the communicative language education strategy, the researcher repeated the speaking test (post-test). Compiling the data and calculating the speaking test scores. The following statistical instruments were applied to the data collected for analysis and interpretation: t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Equal Variances, Weighted Mean, Frequency and Percent Distribution, Standard Deviation, One-Way ANOVA [Single Factor], and the findings of the pre-test and post-test show a considerable improvement in the selected students' speaking ability. Task-based learning is excellent for cultivating language ability because it allows students to participate in natural conversation. The task-based approach gives learners a natural setting in which to utilize language. There are several opportunities for interaction while students try to finish an assignment. Such engagement is said to help with language development since it forces students to converse with one another and articulate their meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to address the encountered problems and concerns of the National Labor Relations Commission – National Capital Region Arbitration Branch (NLRC-NCRAB) Sheriffs in implementing the writ of execution. A quantitative and descriptive research approach was used, with a survey questionnaire as the research instrument tool. 29 active sheriffs in the NLRC-NCRAB were the respondents of this study. Findings show that most of the incumbent sheriffs at the NLRC- NCRAB are 51-65 years old, have been in the service for at least 6-10 years, and are college graduates. A substantial number received more or less 11-20 writs of execution in a month; a more significant number satisfied an average of 1-10 writs. It was concluded that among the problems and concerns at the Sheriff’s Office regarding the issuance of the writ is the “non-issuance of the break-open, contempt order, and show-cause order” being the top compared to other raised issues encountered by them (M=3.93). It also reveals that parties' compliance relative to the writ, a predominant calculated mean of 3.86, points to the “no coordination by the prevailing parties with the sheriff assigned to the case” and is considered similarly “serious.” Correlatively, the results reveal that in terms of writ implementation, the “non-provision of bonded warehouse and towing vehicles” exhibited the most rated among the enumerated issues and was interpreted “very serious” problem being encountered by the NLRC-NCRAB Sheriffs with a determined mean average of 4.28.

Abstract

The study sought to analyze the scientific attitude inventory of junior high school students during pandemic. The scientific attitudes are the most important outcomes of science teaching. It is the combination of many qualities and virtues that is reflected in a person's behavior and actions. The aim of the present study is to check scientific attitude inventory among junior high school students. This study covers 350 students from the different grade levels. Subjects were selected using a stratified random sampling method. Scientific Attitude Scale (SAS) of Bajwa and Mahajan (2012) was administered to collect the data. The statistical treatments that were used in this study are Independent T-test and One way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine the significant difference assessment of respondents about scientific attitude inventory when grouped according to their profile characteristics. On the other hand, the data statistical treatments that were used to determine the significant relationship of scientific attitude and academic performance is Spearman’s Rho Correlation Coefficient. The findings of the study revealed that there is no significant difference between scientific attitude and profile characteristics of the respondents. It also revealed that there is no significant relationship between scientific attitude and academic performance of the respondents. It may therefore be concluded that the scientific attitude of students during pandemic have less in comparison to the normal.
