Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension During Pregnancy (HDP) is one of the leading causes of maternal death. If HDP is not managed, it will affect both the mother and the fetus. One therapy that can be used for HDP is a foot soak in warm boiled lemongrass water and Swedish massage. This therapy can improve blood circulation, increase blood supply to tissues, and stimulate vasodilation in blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure in pregnancy hypertension. This study aims to analyze the effect of a foot soak in warm boiled lemongrass water and Swedish massage on blood pressure among hypertensive pregnant women. Methods: The research method used a pre-experimental with a pretest-posttest without control group design. The population in this study was all hypertensive pregnant women, totaling 20 respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. A data normality revealed that the distribution deviated significantly from the Gaussian model. Consequently, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was employed as a non-parametric alternative for the inferential analysis of the dataset. Results: pre-intervention blood pressure averaged 157/91 mmHg, while post-intervention figures dropped to 135/81 mmHg. With a significance level of p < 0.05, the data demonstrate that the integration of warm lemongrass water immersion and Swedish massage effectively attenuates hypertension in the pregnant women.. Conclusions: Midwives in providing midwifery care to pregnant women with hypertension can use warm lemongrass foot soak therapy and Swedish massage in addition to using pharmacological therapy

Abstract

Introduction: Nosocomial infections remain a serious challenge because they increase morbidity, mortality, hospitalization length, and healthcare costs. Rising bacterial resistance to conventional antibiotics has encouraged exploration of alternative antibacterial agents. Silver nanoparticles synthesized through green methods have attracted attention because of their broad-spectrum activity, while lime peel waste offers a natural source of reducing and stabilizing compounds. Methods: This true experimental study used a post-test control group design. Silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized using lime peel waste extract and characterized by visual color change, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscopy. Antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa was evaluated in vitro by disc diffusion at concentrations of 25, 50, 75, 100, and 125 μg/mL, with controls. Data were analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk, Levene’s test, and One-Way ANOVA. Results: The biosynthesis process produced a visible color change, confirming nanoparticle formation. Characterization showed a maximum absorption peak around 380 nm, functional groups associated with phytochemical reduction and capping, and spherical particles ranging from 13 to 53 nm with an average size of 31 nm. All tested concentrations inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa and were classified as strong. The largest inhibition zone among nanoparticle groups was observed at 125 μg/mL (18.20 ± 0.81 mm), although levofloxacin produced the greatest inhibition. Statistical analysis showed significant differences among treatments (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Lime peel waste extract was successfully used for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles with strong antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These findings indicate potential for developing environmentally friendly antibacterial agents for nosocomial infection control

Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional problems in mothers and children, including malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. In children, these nutritional disorders can appear in various forms, such as intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, energy-protein malnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies such as iron, vitamin A, iodine, and zinc. Malnutrition in children is a serious problem that requires attention because it plays a role in causing approximately 3.1 million cases of death in children under five. The prevalence of stunted (growth retardation) in toddlers in West Nusa Tenggara is 24.5%. Data obtained from the Mataram City Health Office in 2013 showed that 1,136 toddlers experienced growth and development disorders. West Nusa Tenggara recorded 12.6% of children experiencing fine motor delays. Methods:This research is quantitative, using a quasi-experimental design in the form of pre- and post-tests without a control group. The sample size for this study was 56 respondents. Results :There was a significant impact on toddler weight gain. The average weight gain after education was 0.7 kg. Conclusions: Nutrition education provided to mothers of toddlers has been shown to be highly influential and helps increase their weight. Therefore, a nutrition education approach is an effective approach, especially for increasing weight in toddlers.

Abstract

Introduction: Work-related accidents and illnesses result in approximately 2.78 million deaths annually, accompanied by around 374 million non-fatal incidents that lead to prolonged absences, permanent disabilities, and significant economic losses. These figures reflect the immense global health burden borne by the labor sector, while underscoring the urgency of implementing comprehensive OHS systems across various industrial sectors. According to Heinrich’s theory, One of the dominant factors contributing to workplace accidents is workers’ knowledge regarding occupational health and safety. This indicates that workers who have a good understanding of occupational health and safety tend to exhibit safer work action and are better able to prevent workplace accidents. This study aims to analyze the association between occupational health and safety knowledge and workplace accident among workers at CV. X Banyuwangi. Method: This research used an Cross-sectional analytical study. 75 workers selected from 300 using simple random sampling, questionare-based data collection, and Chi-square analysis. The study findings revealed that the majority of respondents – 47 people (62,7%) from 75 selected workers  had insufficient knowledge. And 39 people (52%) reported having experienced a workplace accident within the past year.  Result:  of the Chi-square test showed a significant association between the level of occupational health and safety knowledge and workplace accidents (p <0.001), with a strong effect size (Cramer’s V = 0.80). Conclusion: Occupational health and safety knowledge was significantly associated with workplace accident history, but causal inference cannot be made due to the cross-sectional design

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia is a public health problem with a high prevalence, particularly among adolescent girls. According to the World Health Organization, anemia is a global problem, including in Indonesia, where the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls is also significant. Adolescent girls are at higher risk of developing anemia due to blood loss during menstruation and an unbalanced diet, particularly low iron intake. This condition could lead to decreased learning concentration, academic achievement, and productivity. Adolescent girls living in Islamic boarding schools had a higher risk due to limited dietary patterns, busy daily activities, and lack of food variety. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls at Pondok Pesantren Hidayatus Sholihin as a basis for prevention efforts and nutritional improvemen Methods: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Data analysis techniques included a normality test to determine whether the data were normally distributed. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test. The population in this study consisted of all adolescent girls living in the boarding school, with a total sample of 40 respondents using a total sampling technique. Dietary pattern data were collected through a questionnaire based on Google Forms, while anemia incidence was measured through hemoglobin (Hb) level examination. Data analysis was then performed accordingly. Results: The statistical test using the Pearson correlation test obtained a significance value of p = 0.0 (p < 0.05) with a correlation value of r = 0.503. This indicated that there was a moderately strong positive relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls in the boarding school. Conclusions: Based on the results of research and discussions on the relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls living in Islamic boarding schools indicate that the better the quality of their diet, the lower the risk of anemia. Adequate nutritional intake plays a crucial role in hemoglobin formation. Conditions within the Islamic boarding school environment, such as limited food variety and regular but less varied meal schedules, can also impact nutritional adequacy.

Abstract

Introduction: Cerebral malaria is a severe complication of Plasmodium falciparum infection that can cause coma, death, and persistent neurological impairment despite effective antimalarial treatment. Blood–brain barrier disruption, endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, hypoxia, oxidative stress, and neurovascular injury are central to its pathogenesis. This review evaluated current evidence on adjunctive strategies targeting blood–brain barrier repair and neuroprotection in cerebral malaria. Methods: This systematic review followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines. PubMed and Scopus were searched for studies published between January 1, 2015 and April 30, 2026. Eligible studies included human, animal, and experimental investigations of cerebral malaria reporting adjunctive therapy outcomes related to blood–brain barrier integrity, endothelial activation, neurovascular injury, neurological outcomes, or survival. Data were extracted using a standardized approach and synthesized narratively because of substantial heterogeneity; meta-analysis was not performed. Results: Twenty-two studies met the inclusion criteria. Blood–brain barrier disruption was linked to interacting mechanisms involving parasite sequestration, cytoadherence, endothelial activation, inflammation, hypoxia, oxidative stress, nitric oxide dysregulation, metabolic disturbance, and impaired cerebral microcirculation. Several adjunctive interventions improved blood–brain barrier integrity, reduced vascular leakage, attenuated neuroinflammation, or limited neurovascular injury in experimental models. However, most evidence remained preclinical, and standardized neurovascular endpoints, biomarker-guided stratification, and long-term neurological assessments were rarely used. Conclusions: Blood–brain barrier repair and neuroprotection are important targets for adjunctive therapy in cerebral malaria. Future studies should validate these strategies in clinically relevant models and human trials using standardized endpoints, biomarkers, and long-term neurological outcome measures.
