Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to determine the improvement of mathematics learning outcomes with specialization by applying the cooperative learning model of class XII MIPA students at SMAN 8 Takalar. From the results of this study, it can be seen the percentage of classical completeness from the initial test (pre-test), cycle I, and cycle II. In the initial test before getting the cooperative learning model treatment on specialization mathematics subjects, the average score of the student learning outcomes test reached 60.21. Furthermore, in the first cycle learning outcomes test increased to 71.39. This means an increase of 11.18. Then in the second cycle of learning outcomes test, the average value of the class reached 78.12. This means that there is an increase of 6.73 from cycle I. Before the action treatment was held, the number of students who achieved the minimum completeness criteria indicator (KKM) namely ≥72 was 14 students or 42.42%, while seen from the activities of the first cycle the number of students who achieve the KKM score increased to 20 students or 60.60%. The increase was also seen in the second cycle, the number of students who achieved the KKM score was 26 students or 78.78%.

Abstract

The research is Classroom Action Research, which aims to improve basic chemistry student learning outcomes with the application of Treffinger's learning model with the help of audio visual media on colloidal system materials. Data collection techniques can be done with an observation sheet of student learning activities and evaluation at the end of each cycle. The collected data is analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the application of Active Knowledge Sharing strategy with Buzz Group method can improve basic chemistry learning outcomes in STKIP PI Makassar students which is characterized by an increase in the average learning outcome of cycle I students by 63.33 and cycle II by 72.67 and an increase in the completion of learning outcomes in cycle I which is 9 people or 22.5% and cycle II 35 people or 87.5%.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the types of student errors and the factors that caused students to make mistakes in solving a two-variable system of linear equations based on Watson's criteria for class VIII MTs Pattuku. This type of research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII MTs Pattuku then chose 3 subjects to be interviewed who had the most types of errors based on Watson's criteria. The research instrument used was a diagnostic test consisting of 3 questions about a two-variable linear equation system and interview guidelines. From the results of this study, it shows that there are no students who make mistakes in missing data (committed data) and indirect manipulation (undirected manipulation). 16% made incorrect data errors (innapropriate data), 40% made incorrect procedural errors (innapropriate procedure), 68% made an omitted conclusion error, 24% made a response level conflict error, 36% made mistakes in the skill hierarchy problem, and 48% made mistakes other than the 7 categories above (above other).

Abstract

This study examines the leadership style and supervision of principals in improving teacher performance in several public high schools in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. This study uses a qualitative approach with a cross-sectional descriptive method. Observation and interview techniques were used to obtain data. The collected data were analyzed in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, as well as checking the validity of the data using observation and triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the principals' leadership style in improving teacher performance is a leadership style democratic and authoritarian. Authoritarian style is done through observation timeliness of attendance of teachers in schools and teaching time in the classroom. The democratic style is carried out by providing opportunities for teachers to attend training according to the needs of the school and the needs of teachers. The Teaching supervision program principal's oriented towards the guidance of teachers' tasks, such as preparing teaching programs and preparing learning tools. Obstacles in the supervision of principals are the low competence of most supervisors, activities outside the supervision schedule, and difficulty changing old habits.

Abstract

This study is the quasi experimental research that aimed to know the effect of the implementation of Padlet to the students’ achievement in writing. The implementation Padlet as independent variables and the students’ achievement in writing as a dependent variable. The population in this research is all students class XI MIA MAN 1 Makassar that consist of eight classes. Class XI MIA 5 as a control group that consist of 30 students and class XI MIA 1 as an experiment group that consist of 30 students. The data of the research was obtained by the study results test on the subject of the velocity reaction for pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed by writing test. Based on analysis of inferential statistics for writing achievement, the P = 0.001, and it less than  = 0,05 was obtained, it is means that the implementation Padlet is significantly influence to the students’ achievement in writing of the students’ class XI MIA 1 MAN I Makassar on the material subject of writing.

Abstract

This study aims to determine verbal linguistic intelligence, to determine the results learning English especially on students' speaking, and to find out the influence of verbal linguistic intelligence on learning outcomes in English students of class X IPA 1 of SMAN 1 Sidrap. This research is quantitative research; this type of research is a pre-experimental design research. The population in this study was all students of class X SMAN 1 Sidrap, amounting to 182 people, while the study sample was the entire population, namely students of class X IPA 1 SMAN 1 Sidrap, amounting to 32 people. The instruments used in this study were interviews, questionnaires, treatment and recording tools. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and simple regression test through the application of SPSS. Based on the results of descriptive statistical analysis, verbal linguistic intelligence obtained an average value of 84.94, the lowest value obtained 0, and the highest value 107 and are at a percentage of 56.25% are in the average category. The results of learning English in this case speaking students obtained an average value of 96, the lowest value of 0, and the highest value of 96 and are in the good category with a percentage of 65.625%. The simple regression test results obtained sig <α (0,000 <0.05). This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a positive influence between verbal linguistic intelligence on learning outcomes of students of class X Science 1 of SMAN 1 Sidrap.

Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lectures must be conducted online. This research is a survey research to find out the perception of students in participating in online learning. Survey of Musamus University students in 6 faculties with a total of 262 respondents. Respondents were selected by proportionate stratified random sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire made in google form with a total of 21 questions. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of each answer for each question item. Through this research, the results obtained are (1) Students realize online learning is a learning solution during the Covid-19 pandemic; (2) Students are happy with participating in online learning; (3) Students are enthusiastic to complete assignments; (4) Students realize that through the assignment of lecturers their knowledge is increasing; (5) Students find online learning beneficial for them; (6) Students have mastered the use of online learning platforms; (7) Students hope that online learning will no longer be carried out in the future. Students also prefer face-to-face learning compared to blended learning and online learning, but some students have realized that the blended learning model is an alternative in learning that can be applied in the future

Abstract

Teachers face several drawbacks and potential issues while participating in an online class. This study explored the challenges encountered by teachers in implementing online distance learning in the Basic Education Department, specifically in the Junior and Senior High School, of Misamis University, Ozamiz City. The study utilized a qualitative approach using phenomenological design. The study included twenty (20) participants from the teachers handling online classes in the Junior and Senior High Schools, selected through purposive sampling. In-depth face-to-face interviews were used in gathering information from the teachers. The researcher employed the seven steps of Colaizzi’s method of data analysis. Results revealed the following themes: (1) the need to motivate the students in learning the lessons; (2) the preparation of learning resources; (3) poor internet connection; and (4) constant communication with students and parents. Teachers may integrate activities that would keep the students engaged throughout the lesson. Back-up plans may be designed to address the challenge of internet connectivity which interfere the teaching-learning process.

Abstract

Addressing critical literacy exploration into students’ language learning is perpetuated in this digital media- dependent environment. Reading and writing competencies have also pertained the critical enactment in order to present the beyond textual values. Through class discussions and class observations among 12 tertiary English major students in a private university in Indonesia, this study explores students’ beliefs and attitudes towards their critical literacy comprehension on online media information through writing practices. This exploratory case study collect the data covering the recordings of class discussions and class observations from student lesson implementation during their writing course. The results of this study reveal that most of the students are aware of the critical understanding of particular information conveyed from certain messages in their written works. Their beliefs on critical literacy agency has raised several attitudes of how they construct the social perspectives based on selections of what to include and exclude in their written texts. The article is also present recommendation to enlighten the learning in a critical stance.

Abstract

This paper examined the different approaches in teachers’ discipline and control in public and private secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria. The population of this descriptive study were 3000 teachers drawn from all the six education districts of Lagos State. The sample consisted of 1200 teachers drawn using multistage sampling procedure. Descriptive and inferential statistics tools were used to analyse the data gathered. Descriptive statistical methods such as frequency counts and percentages were used to answer the research questions while an inferential statistic of T-test was employed to test the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The study revealed that approaches of teachers’ discipline in public secondary schools are quite relaxed and easy from the approaches used in private secondary schools which are quite harsh. Also, the study revealed that the form of indiscipline among teachers in both public and private secondary schools in Lagos state are different. While the leaving the school before the closing time is mostly found in public schools, form of trading among teachers is the predominately form indiscipline in private secondary. The study recommended that teachers should strictly adhere to the school ethics as this will curb indiscipline in the school and also attend professional training, seminal or symposium to update their skills regularly.
