Abstract

The digitisation of international trade documents is a strategic imperative in the era of the global digital economy. The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) has responded to this challenge through the 2017 Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR), which provides a legal framework for the recognition of transferable electronic documents. This study analyses the effectiveness of the MLETR in supporting the digitisation of international trade through a comparative study of its implementation in Australia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC), whilst also evaluating its implications for Indonesia. Using a normative legal research method and a comparative approach, this study finds that Australia adopted the MLETR through comprehensive federal-state harmonisation, whilst the PRC integrated the principles of the MLETR into the revision of the Maritime Law 1992. Both approaches demonstrate that the success of MLETR implementation depends on inter-jurisdictional coordination, technological infrastructure, and industry awareness. For Indonesia, which only ratified the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts 2005 in 2023, the implementation of the MLETR is a prerequisite for competitiveness in global digital trade. This study recommends the adoption of the MLETR through amendments to the ITE Law and the Trade Law, as well as the establishment of a National Electronic Trade Council to coordinate implementation.

Abstract

This study analyses the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the volume of agricultural commodity exports from the perspective of economic law and international trade policy. Employing a normative-empirical legal research method with a policy analysis approach, this study examines the dynamics of exchange rate regulation, its legal implications for agricultural exports, and the policy framework that supports trade stability. The results indicate that exchange rate fluctuations have a significant impact on the volume of agricultural commodity exports, both in the short and long term. A stable exchange rate policy is a crucial prerequisite for enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products in international markets. This study recommends the harmonisation of monetary and trade policies to protect the interests of agricultural businesses and strengthen Indonesia’s position in global trade.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has transformed the global trade landscape through the emergence of cross-border e-commerce. Cross-border electronic transactions provide convenience for consumers in accessing international products, but simultaneously create significant legal complexities, particularly regarding legal liability and consumer dispute resolution. This study analyzes international and national legal frameworks governing liability in cross-border e-commerce transactions, with specific focus on case studies of international consumer disputes. Using normative legal research methods with a comparative approach, this research examines international conventions, EU regulations, ASEAN frameworks, and Indonesian legislation. The results indicate complex jurisdictional challenges in determining applicable law and competent forums, exacerbated by information asymmetry and negotiation power gaps between consumers and businesses. This study recommends regional legal harmonization through effective Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanisms and strengthening consumer protection based on consumer-priority jurisdiction principles to create legal certainty in cross-border e-commerce transactions.

Abstract

The increasingly multipolar nature of the global order has led to the fragmentation of the international trade law system, which was previously built upon the multilateral framework of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The crisis in the WTO’s Appellate Body since 2019, characterised by the United States’ practice of ‘appealing into the void’, has paralysed the two-tier dispute settlement mechanism that was the hallmark of the multilateral trading system. This phenomenon is exacerbated by the proliferation of Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs), which have reached nearly 600 agreements by 2023, creating overlapping jurisdictions and inconsistent legal interpretations. This study examines, from a normative-legal perspective, how geopolitical rivalry between major powers—the United States, China, and Russia—is accelerating the fragmentation of international trade law through instruments such as economic sanctions, trade wars, and the formation of alternative economic blocs like BRICS. The analysis reveals that legal fragmentation not only threatens the principles of legal certainty and predictability in international trade relations, but also opens the door to the formation of a more adaptive pluralistic legal order in response to the dynamics of national economic security. The study’s conclusions recommend the need for fundamental reform of the Dispute Settlement Understanding (DSU) through a critical mass-based plurilateral decision-making mechanism to address consensus paralysis, as well as the strengthening of ASEAN’s role as a mediator for regulatory harmonisation amidst global economic bloc competition.

Abstract

The Pharma Care 2025 program is a community service initiative aimed at improving public knowledge, awareness, and health status in Banjarsari Village, Ciawi District, Bogor Regency. This program was motivated by the increasing cases of drug abuse (NAPZA), the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission, and the high prevalence of degenerative diseases in the community. The methods used included observation, health education, screening, and community empowerment through a participatory approach. The activities implemented consisted of health screening, drug abuse and HIV/AIDS education for adolescents, education on degenerative diseases and dementia, vitamin distribution, formalin testing in food products, and a herbal soap-making workshop. The screening results indicated that a significant proportion of the community had high cholesterol and uric acid levels, suggesting a risk of degenerative diseases. Health education activities were proven effective in improving participants' knowledge, as indicated by an increase in average pretest–posttest scores among students from 83.67 to 92, and among community members from 65.86 to 83.79. In addition, formalin testing on food samples showed negative results, indicating relatively safe food conditions. The herbal soap workshop successfully enhanced community skills in utilizing natural resources for economically valuable products. Overall, this program had a positive impact on increasing health awareness, promoting healthy lifestyle changes, and strengthening community economic empowerment. This initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable promotive and preventive intervention model to improve public health quality.

Abstract

This study on 21st-century skills-based education highlights the importance of critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration (4C), digital literacy, and adaptive character in responding to increasingly complex development challenges. In the context of national development and the sustainable development agenda, education can no longer focus solely on rote learning but must equip learners with the ability to solve real-world problems in society and the workplace. This article examines the concept of 21st-century skills, the challenges of their implementation in educational institutions, and their relevance to sustainable development needs. The method used is a literature study of education policies, global competency frameworks, and various innovative learning practices oriented toward 4C and new literacies. The findings show that strengthening project-based learning, utilizing digital technology, and integrating local–global development issues into the curriculum can enhance the relevance of education to development needs. However, the success of implementation greatly depends on teacher capacity, infrastructure support, and consistent policies that position 21st-century skills as key indicators of education quality. These findings underscore the urgency of systemic educational transformation to produce human resources who are excellent, competitive, and able to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development.

Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at MIS Al-Ikhlash, as indicated by interview data with the homeroom teacher showing that 8 out of 18 students (44.4%) scored below the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) of 70 in Arabic language subjects. This issue was attributed to limited instructional innovation and low student engagement during the learning process, leading to student boredom and suboptimal achievement of learning objectives. Therefore, this study aimed (1) to enhance students’ learning engagement in Arabic through the use of Ludo as an instructional media, and (2) to improve students’ learning outcomes using the same approach. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, specifically a collaborative action research model, in which the researcher acted as the instructor assisted by an observer. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected using descriptive analysis techniques, including observation sheets, test results, and documentation of students’ learning outcomes. The findings revealed that the implementation of Ludo as an instructional media significantly improved both student engagement and learning outcomes. Student engagement increased from 45.83% in the first cycle to 87.80% in the second cycle, reflecting an improvement of 41.97%. Similarly, learning outcomes improved, as evidenced by the increase in the number of students achieving mastery: from 5 out of 18 students (27.78%) in the first cycle to 15 students (83%) in the second cycle, indicating a 56% improvement. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers adopt more innovative instructional strategies and prepare comprehensive teaching materials, while future researchers are encouraged to further develop Ludo-based learning media by incorporating different variables, indicators, or subject areas.

Abstract

Lifelong education is an educational concept that takes place throughout a person’s life, from birth until the end of life. In the perspective of Islamic education, this concept aligns with the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith, which emphasize the obligation to seek knowledge without time limits. This study aims to analyze the implementation of lifelong education in the Islamic education system in Indonesia, covering formal, non-formal, and informal aspects. The method used is library research with a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the implementation of lifelong education in Islamic education in Indonesia has been realized through the integration of Islamic values into the curriculum, the development of community-based education, and the use of educational technology. However, there are still challenges, such as gaps in access to education and adaptation to the changing times. Therefore, policy innovation and sustainable learning strategies are needed to strengthen the concept of lifelong education within the Islamic education system.
