Abstract

Gender stereotypes in mathematics education have long been a concern in the field of education. Although empirical evidence shows that there are no inherent differences in mathematical abilities between boys and girls, these stereotypes persist in culture and society. The impact is particularly significant, especially on elementary school children, who tend to have low interest and confidence in mathematics. However, innovative strategies such as the Problem Solving approach can address these stereotypes and help build strong interest and skills in mathematics. Through observation and evaluation, it was found that the implementation of innovative strategies has a significant positive impact on students' interest and achievement in mathematics. Therefore, continuous efforts to combat stereotypes, foster interest in mathematics, and implement innovative strategies are crucial in creating a supportive learning environment that advances students' mathematical abilities

Abstract

One of the causes of difficulties in studying mathematics is the interaction between teachers and students. Teaching and learning are the two types of activities that go into the process of learning mathematics. Combining these two exercises creates a task that encourages communication between students, teachers, and other students. The teacher is a mentor and an example for the students, acting as an educator. This research intends to outline the difficulties math teachers have when teaching students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok. The technique is a qualitative strategy. An teacher of mathematics at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok served as the research subject. Techniques for collecting data through interviews. According to research, there are three issues that math teachers at SMP 3 Muhammadiyah 3 Depok must deal with:1) poor time management, 2) a discrepancy between the methods used and what was planned, 3) a discrepancy between the material being taught and the ASPD exam material.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the presentation of problem solving ability incidents in terms of mathematical representation in System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV). Problem solving is a learning process that uses students' problem solving abilities with certain stages. Representation is a model or alternative form of a problem situation that is used to find a solution. For example, a problem can be represented using objects, images, words, or mathematical symbols. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative type. The subjects in this research are class VIII students at MTs Darul Huda, Air Kumbang District 7 people, with the subject taking technique using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used was LKPD with a problem solving approach to SPLDV material. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews and student test results , and draw conclusions.. The results of the research show that students who master 3 mathematical representations are able to solve a problem based on the problem solving stages compiled by Polya. Although there are students who have problems solving problems and have problems re-checking the answers they get

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the generative learning model on students' learning outcomes in mathematics, specifically on the topic of parallelogram area, in seventh-grade students at a junior high school (SMP). This research is experimental in nature. The population consists of all seventh-grade students, with class VII.6 serving as the experimental group and class VII.7 as the control group. The results show that students who used the generative learning model achieved an average score of = 83,475 with a standard deviation of s1 = 10,679, whereas students who did not use the model had an average score of = 74,425 with a standard deviation of s2 = 12,5450. After analyzing the data, a difference in average scores between the experimental and control groups was found. Based on statistical analysis using the t-test, the results showed tcalculated = 3.474 for ? = 5% (? = 0.05) and degrees of freedom (df) = 78, with ttable = 1.980. Since tcalculated > ttable, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The hypothesis test confirms that "there is an effect of the generative learning model on students' learning outcomes in mathematics on the topic of parallelogram area in seventh-grade students at a junior high school (SMP)."

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental science that plays a crucial role in various fields of life and technological development. However, mathematics learning at MI X is still limited to teaching materials provided by the school, making it less engaging and meaningful for students. To address this issue, innovation in learning is needed, one of which is through the development of teaching materials in the form of modules. This study aims to develop a student mathematics module based on a contextual approach for the topic of statistics in Grade IV. The research subjects consisted of 23 students. The development method used is the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The module developed was validated by experts and revised twice until it was deemed suitable for use. Limited trials showed the module's practicality, with a student response percentage of 84.89%. Meanwhile, field trials indicated the module's effectiveness, with an average student learning outcome of 76,2, categorized as excellent. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the contextual-based mathematics module developed is feasible, practical, and has potential effects in improving student learning outcomes in the topic of statistics.

Abstract

Technology is something that can help people worldwide as a means to facilitate education. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research population consisted of students from grades X, XI, and XII at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis, with a sample of three students from each grade. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The interviews aimed to explore students’ perceptions of the use of technology in mathematics learning at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis, specifically through chat and voice notes (VN) on the WhatsApp application. The interview results were described based on the perception factors applied in this study. The findings showed that the percentage of technology use in mathematics learning was as follows: sometimes 56%, often 28%, always 12%, and never 4%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of technology in mathematics learning is still very low.

Abstract

This study aims to develop TIMSS model mathematics questions as an assessment instrument. The method used is the 4-D model development method (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research subjects were two eighth-grade junior high school students for the pilot test and two experts to assess the validity of the questions developed. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling based on their involvement, experience, and availability. The instruments used were the TIMSS-model mathematics question package, as well as student and teacher response sheets. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the question item development showed that the three questions developed through adaptation from TIMSS questions were deemed valid. The expert validation and revision process significantly improved the language, instructions, and visual quality. Based on the pilot test results, it was found that students still struggled with solving reasoning-level questions.

Abstract

Metacognitive ability and learning style are two crucial aspects that influence the success of students learning processes. Although they differ conceptually, both are interrelated and interact in determining learning effectiveness. This study aims to explore the relationship between metacognitive ability and learning style, as well as to evaluate whether metacognitive ability corresponds proportionally with learning style. The method used in this research is literature analysis. By collecting and analyzing various relevant studies, the researcher investigates the relationship between metacognitive ability and learning style, both conceptually and practically. The analysis results reveal a positive correlation between metacognitive ability and learning style. Students with higher metacognitive ability tend to be more aware of their own learning styles and are more effective in managing learning strategies according to their preferences. However, the relationship between the two is complex, as it is also influenced by other factors such as prior learning experiences, motivation levels, and the surrounding learning environment. In conclusion, metacognitive ability plays a significant role in helping students understand and optimize their respective learning styles. Nevertheless, although metacognitive ability may assist in understanding and applying students’ learning styles, the relationship between the two is not always linear or proportional. Therefore, a holistic understanding of the student learning process requires an in-depth comprehension of both aspects.
