Abstract

Rejosari Health Center, in 2023 the achievement of infants < 6 months getting breast milk exclusively is still below the national target of below 80% at 73.1%. One of the efforts to increase breast milk production is by consuming banana heart because it contains lactagogum substances that stimulate oxytocin and prolactin hormones to increase and facilitate breast milk production. This study aims to determine the effect of banana heart consumption on milk production in breastfeeding mothers. This type of quantitative research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with nonequivalent control group. The population of postpartum women on the fourth day was 23 people, the sample amounted to 20 people where 10 people in the intervention group and 10 people in the control group were taken by accidental sampling, when found by chance meeting the criteria immediately used as research samples. This study was conducted in the Rejosari Health Center working area by giving banana heart 2 times a day as much as 200 grams / day for 7 days to respondents. The average breast milk production of the intervention group before the intervention was 15 ml, to 86 ml after the intervention. The average pretest value of breast milk production of the control group was 11 ml, after posttet to 25 ml. The results of the Mann Whitney analysis showed that there was an effect of banana heart consumption on milk production expenditure in breastfeeding mothers with a p-value = 0.000, so it was concluded that there was an effect of banana heart consumption on milk production expenditure in breastfeeding mothers in the working area of the Rejosari Health Center, Pringsewu District in 2024 with a p-value = 0.000. It is expected that breastfeeding mothers utilize banana heart as a natural alternative that can support increased milk production, while still considering balanced nutritional intake and medical consultation.

Abstract

Range of Motion (ROM) exercises are essential for elderly individuals with joint limitations, particularly in nursing homes where many residents experience joint stiffness. Caregivers, responsible for assisting these elderly individuals, often lack knowledge of ROM exercises, which are crucial in alleviating joint issues and preventing muscle and tissue degeneration. This study aims to ensure that elderly caregivers comprehend and can correctly teach ROM techniques, as well as understand their benefits for elderly individuals with physical mobility limitations. Additionally, caregivers should be able to implement ROM procedures and conduct evaluations to maximize the benefits for the elderly. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental approach to measure changes in caregivers’ knowledge after receiving ROM training. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, assessing caregivers’ understanding of ROM techniques and their benefits for the elderly. Observations were also conducted during the training to evaluate participant engagement. The data from the pre-test and post-test were analyzed using descriptive statistics, with frequency analysis to measure knowledge changes such as 30%, 20%, or 10% improvements, and identifying those with no improvement or decreased knowledge. The results show that The Training of Trainee (TOT) activity successfully improved caregivers’ knowledge. Among the 20 participants, 7 (35%) showed a 20% increase in knowledge, 4 (20%) showed a 10% improvement, and 1 (5%) had a 30% increase. However, 4 participants (20%) showed no improvement, and 4 (20%) exhibited a decrease in knowledge. Despite some negative outcomes, the overall result indicates that the training effectively enhanced caregivers’ understanding of ROM exercises and their role in improving the mobility of elderly individuals. The TOT activity successfully achieved its goal of enhancing the caregivers' knowledge of ROM techniques. The results suggest that further training is necessary to ensure continuous improvement in caregivers' skills, ultimately benefiting the physical mobility of elderly individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of individual and environmental factors on eye fatigue among laptop users in office environments. The research was conducted using a descriptive observational design involving 33 workers at LMA Consortium Office, Kediri, East Java, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and lighting intensity measurements. The findings reveal that most workers experienced eye fatigue, primarily due to laptop usage exceeding 4 hours per day, low lighting intensity (averaging 95.7 lux), and inadequate rest habits. Common complaints included blurred vision, eye discomfort, and headaches. Individual factors such as age, gender, and eyewear usage showed no significant relationship with eye fatigue, whereas environmental factors, particularly lighting, had a significant impact. Recommendations include improving lighting conditions, implementing ergonomic workplace practices, and raising worker awareness about the importance of eye rest. These findings emphasize the importance of ergonomic workplace management to reduce the risk of eye fatigue among laptop users.

Abstract

Malaria remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in many countries. A definitive diagnosis of malaria can be made through microscopic examination or Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs). Both microscopic examination and RDT have their own characteristics, advantages, and limitations. This study aims to describe the methods of malaria diagnosis at community health centers in Bitung City. A descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach was used in this study. Data were obtained through interviews with nine health workers, including laboratory assistants and malaria program coordinators, from nine community health centers in Bitung City. The results showed that microscopic examination was available in only five community health centers. These centers confirmed RDT results and identified Plasmodium species through microscopic examination. In the primary health centers where only RDT was available, three referred patients to more equipped facilities, and one made a diagnosis using only RDT. The conclusion of this study is that RDT is available in all community health centers, whereas microscopic examination is available in only five community health centers due to limited diagnostic tools and human resources.
