Abstract

Breast cancer is a serious disease that affects millions of people worldwide every year. Risk factors include gender, age, family history, and genetic factors. Although there are treatment methods such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, breast cancer management often brings various physical, social, psychological, and financial problems for patients. Therefore, alternative treatments like the use of herbal plants, particularly compounds like curcumin, have been researched as potential anticancer agents with minimal side effects. The aim of this study is to explore in depth the potential of curcumin in breast cancer. This article is compiled from various databases, including Pubmed and Google Scholar, using the keywords "curcumin, breast cancer, anticancer." The journals sought were published between 2015 and 2024, and five journals were identified as relevant to the topic for further discussion. Based on literature studies, several mechanisms of curcumin against breast cancer include the regulation of protein signaling pathways, inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and reduction of drug resistance. Additionally, curcumin can also inhibit metastasis and increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to other therapies. The combination of curcumin with other drugs like tamoxifen can enhance its effectiveness in treating breast cancer. Based on this, it can be concluded that curcumin can be used as an alternative therapy for breast cancer through its various mechanisms.

Abstract

Denture stomatitis is the most prevalent multifactorial, chronic inflammatory oral condition amongs denture wearers. One of the primary roles of dentures in denture stomatitis is their potential to cause irritation and inflammation of the oral tissues. This continuous irritation creates an environment where fungal infections, notably C. albicans. The traumatic factors such as mechanical trauma caused by loose prosthesis can increase the risk of tissue penetration and colonization of Candida species. This literature review aimed to explore the colonization of C. albicans in the denture wearer. The article was conducted of two databases and were limited to the period from 2019 to 2024 with a combination of the following keywords: “oral Candida albicans” "colonization" "denture wearer". The results obtained A total of 243 articles were initially identified through the designated keywords in PubMed and Google scholar. After meticulous removal of duplicate articles and application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 7 articles met the study’s eligibility criteria. C. albicans was the predominant species recovered from oral caviproty of both denture wearers and non-denture wearers. C. albicans can not only adhere to the oral mucosa but also can colonize the surface of the acrylic denture when it is poorly maintained. The presence of prosthetic appliances changes the microenvironment of the oral cavity through the facilitation of Candida colonization and proliferation. The biofilm on the denture can enhance its adhesion adding to its virulence. Wearing of a denture has been found to enhance adhesion of C. albicans.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever, caused by the dengue virus and spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, is characterised by sudden fever lasting 2 to 7 days without a clear cause, weakness/lethargy, restlessness, heartburn, and skin bleeding in the form of petechiae, ecchymosis, or purpura. Sometimes nosebleeds, diarrhoea, bloody vomit, loss of consciousness, or shock Dengue fever was identified in West Sumba District, mainly in Dira Tana Village, Loli District, with 50 cases. This study examines West Sumba Regency's Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever incidence and home environmental variables. This quantitative case-control study compares Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever patients to controls. This quantitative case-control study compares Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever patients to controls.Statistical analysis with a significance value of 5% (0.05) yielded a p-value of 0.491, indicating no association between house shape or type and dengue illness. Because almost every respondent's house, both stilt and permanent, has waste water drainage channels, breeding places, resting places, and containers inside and outside the house, dengue fever incidence is unrelated to house type.

Abstract

Anxiety during pregnancy negatively impacts women from pregnancy to delivery, potentially leading to premature birth and miscarriage. Data from the Kupang City Health Service shows that in 2022, the number of pregnant women in the third trimester at the Oesapa Community Health Center was 1,410. Anxiety can be alleviated through various non-pharmacological therapies, one of which is the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) therapy. SEFT is a healing method that combines psychological energy with prayer and spirituality. This research aims to identify the effectiveness of SEFT therapy in reducing anxiety in third trimester pregnant women at the Oesapa Community Health Center. The study is quantitative, using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-posttest design. This involves three steps: administering a pretest to measure the dependent variable before treatment, providing experimental treatment to the subjects, and administering a posttest to measure the dependent variable after treatment. The statistical analysis results indicate that there are 44 negative ranks, meaning all 30 patients showed a decrease in anxiety levels before and after receiving SEFT therapy, with a mean rank or average decrease of 15.50. The sum of ranks is 465.00. The positive ranking results show no increase in anxiety levels in third trimester pregnant women before and after SEFT therapy, with a value of 0 for the N value, Mean rank, and Sum rank. This suggests that SEFT therapy is effective in reducing anxiety in pregnant women during the third trimester.

Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer is not just a medical issue but also a psychological one. Individuals with cancer are susceptible to many psychological problems, including anxiety, sadness, stress, fear, and other related difficulties. Psychoeducation is a kind of psychological treatment that involves providing education to breast cancer patients to address their psychological concerns. Method: This study employs a quasi-experimental research methodology. The research focused on breast cancer patients. The study sample consisted of 50 respondents selected using the purposive sampling approach. The variable not influenced by this study is psychoeducation, whereas its dependent variables are self-efficacy and motivation. The data were gathered using General Self-Efficacy questionnaires, Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, and observation sheets. Statistical tests, namely the Paired T-Test and Independent Result: The study findings indicate significant improvements in self-efficacy (p = 0.000) and motivation (p = 0.000). Conclusion: This study demonstrates that psychoeducation has an impact on the self-confidence and drive to undertake treatment in breast cancer patients. Psychoeducation provides cancer-related knowledge on breast cancer and offers strategies to manage stress effectively. This may enhance self-efficacy and motivation among breast cancer patients undergoing treatment.
