Literatify : Trends in Library Developments is an academic journal that publishes the current issues regarding library developments. The journal is a bi-annual publication that is officially organized and published by UPT Perpustakaan in collaboration with Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan UIN Alauddin Makassar. The journal is provided for librarians, subject analysts, library science students, information specialists, information managers, researchers who need or are interested in keeping up to date with the most recent issues and developments in libraries. We regularly publish the issues in March and September. The journal only accepts research-based papers. All submitted papers will initially review by journal editors and if it was matched with the journal scope, the paper will be then sent to our peer-reviewers. We only accept manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Abstract

Information science has evolved from information management into a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses data management, analysis, and communication, driven by the rise of digital data and the need for effective information management strategies. This field helps address modern challenges, enabling data-driven decision-making and improved communication. This study employs statistical and mathematical methods to collect, analyze, and understand bibliographic data related to articles and journals. Researchers use VOSviewer to visualize and analyze bibliometric networks, including citation relationships, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, or author collaboration. The foundation of modern information theory was established by Claude Shannon and Alan Turing. An analysis of research trends in Information Science Research (ISR) indicates a decline in publications from 2019 to 2024, decreasing from 173 articles in 2019 to only 4 articles in 2024. Of a total of 500 articles, 93.20% were written collaboratively. The data suggest that research in ISR is closely related to scholarly writing in the field of Library and Information Science.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of digital literacy among Generation Z in Sleman Regency in conducting transactions on Shopee. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques come from primary data obtained through distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, complemented by literature reviews and interviews to strengthen the evidence. The respondents of this study are Generation Z in Sleman Regency. The research findings reveal that the ability of Generation Z in Sleman Regency to use and disseminate information falls into the moderate category, accounting for 87%. The ability to create and collaborate is also in the moderate category, with 48%. The ability to analyze and evaluate falls into the high category, at 45%. Meanwhile, the ability to apply ethical judgment is categorized as moderate, with 93%. Overall, across the four core digital literacy skills, the majority of Generation Z in Sleman Regency who have conducted transactions on Shopee are categorized as moderate, representing 55%. This indicates that most Generation Z in Sleman Regency have fairly good digital literacy, although there remains a small portion with low digital literacy. Therefore, efforts to enhance digital literacy among Generation Z in Sleman Regency are still needed, as increased digital literacy is expected to improve security and awareness in using and optimizing digital platforms.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of artificial intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, in the process of writing scientific publications. ChatGPT, based on the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) model, significantly aids the writing process by efficiently generating text. While this technology can enhance productivity, there are risks such as plagiarism, information inaccuracies, and a decline in the originality of academic work. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that ChatGPT speeds up the writing process and helps generate ideas, but caution is needed regarding potential biases and ethical concerns. This study recommends verifying information and maintaining the originality of academic work to optimize the use of AI in the academic world.

Abstract

The library café concept introduces innovation in the library world by creating a more modern and comfortable atmosphere. This study aims to analyze the management strategies in planning and organizing The Room 19 as a library café. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, using observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review as data collection techniques. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The findings indicate that The Room 19's planning strategy involves environmental analysis, vendor involvement in interior design, and the establishment of a concept inspired by To Room Nineteen, a book by Doris Lessing. The organizational strategy includes forming a structured team consisting of Co-Founder & Management and Library Monitor, with a monthly shift division system. The Room 19 implements an online reservation system via Instagram and schedules visits into three daily shifts, each lasting four hours. Additionally, collaborations with various brands and communities support product offerings and regular activities, while the Opaper application is used for online book borrowing and product transactions. These strategies ensure efficient management and enhance the appeal of the library café.

Abstract

The digital era has prompted online sites to provide an information that aligns with users’ needs. Information accessibility could help bibliophiles in order to retrieve an information and decide on their book preferences effectively and efficiently. This research aims to analyze the correlation between Goodreads’ information quality and bibliophiles’ book preference. Information quality is measured through three (3) indicators: accuracy, timeliness, and relevancy. This research employed a quantitative method through a survey. The sampling method used was simple random sampling due to the homogency of the population. The population consisted of X @basebuku followers whom using Goodreads, in which 230 people, and 70 people were selected. The results, analyzed using Spearman’s Rank Correlation, indicate a moderate correlation between information quality and book preferences. Furthermore, each indicators indicate a correlation with book preferences, yet there’s difference on the strength of correlation. Accuracy and book preferences indicate a weak correlation; timeliness and book preferences indicate a moderate correlation; relevancy and book preferences indicate a strong correlation.

Abstract

Perpustakaan digital merupakan salah satu inovasi dalam dunia pengelolaan informasi yang memanfaatkan teknologi informasi untuk memudahkan akses terhadap berbagai sumber daya informasi. Artikel ini membahas peran perpustakaan digital dalam meningkatkan akses informasi dan memperluas layanan perpustakaan, khususnya melalui aplikasi Dispustaka Enrekang yang dikembangkan oleh Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Enrekang. Aplikasi Dispustaka juga memungkinkan masyarakat mengakses buku digital secara online dan offline menggunakan perangkat digital, serta dilengkapi dengan fitur media sosial untuk berbagi rekomendasi dan berdiskusi. Meskipun membawa banyak manfaat, seperti meningkatkan literasi, memperluas jangkauan layanan, dan mempermudah akses, aplikasi ini juga menghadapi tantangan, antara lain keterbatasan koleksi e-book, masalah teknis dalam penggunaan aplikasi, serta kesulitan akses bagi sebagian masyarakat yang kurang familiar dengan teknologi. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi berbagai tantangan yang dihadapi dalam implementasi aplikasi Dispustaka Enrekang dan memberikan saran untuk meningkatkan efektivitas aplikasi tersebut. Saran tersebut mencakup peningkatan koleksi e-book, perbaikan sistem pengelolaan konten, peningkatan pelatihan literasi digital bagi masyarakat, dan pengoptimalan aplikasi untuk mengatasi masalah teknis. Dengan perbaikan ini, diharapkan aplikasi Enrekang dapat semakin mempermudah akses informasi dan meningkatkan literasi digital di masyarakat Kabupaten Enrekang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in information literacy education, specifically to understand the experiences and perspectives of students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang regarding the implementation of this technology. The research employs a case study method with a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews and thematic document analysis. The analysis process involves identifying patterns or themes in the text through selection, coding, and interpretation to gain a deeper understanding of its meaning and context. The findings indicate that AI integration in information literacy education has the potential to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and learning quality. The majority of students responded positively to AI technology, highlighting benefits such as faster and more relevant information access as well as personalized feedback. This suggests that AI can serve as a valuable tool in improving education quality and fostering innovation in learning. However, several challenges remain in AI integration, including data privacy concerns, technological sustainability, and resource disparities. Therefore, further research is recommended to explore the perspectives of other stakeholders and examine AI applications in various educational contexts.

Abstract

The phenomenon of brainrot, or intellectual decline due to excessive information consumption, has become a serious issue in the digital era. Brainrot affects information literacy, knowledge management, and decision-making. This study employs a qualitative method with non-participatory observation to avoid bias. Data is obtained from social media through observations and screenshots of behaviors, expressions, and interaction patterns in reels, photos, and comments. The instruments used include internet networks, devices, and social media accounts. The research findings indicate that brainrot is triggered by an information tsunami, social media algorithms that prioritize viral content, and low information filtering capabilities. Its impacts include decreased focus, critical thinking, and knowledge management effectiveness at both individual and institutional levels. To address this issue, more adaptive information literacy, better digital time management, and the utilization of artificial intelligence-based technology to filter relevant information are necessary. This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the process and effects of brainrot, as well as strategies to overcome it. Structured social media literacy improvement is an essential step in facing digital era challenges and enhancing productivity.

Abstract

The Hasanuddin University Library manages more than 516,000 collections, which poses challenges in efficiency and accuracy with conventional barcode systems. To address these issues, this research offers a solution based on Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) as a more modern, adaptive, and accurate technology. The objective of this research is to examine the processing of library materials integrated with RFID at the Hasanuddin University Library in Makassar. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. Findings reveal that RFID integration covers stamping, digital inventory, classification, bibliographic input, labeling, RFID tagging, circulation testing, and shelving. The integration of RFID with Inlislite automation significantly improved efficiency, accuracy, and security, while supporting the development of smart libraries in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the transformation of the Berau District Public Library based on social inclusion and to identify the challenges faced during this transformation. This study uses a qualitative method with managerial, pedagogical, and juridical approaches. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the Head of the Office, the Head of Development Division, and librarians, as well as documentation. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that after undergoing transformation, the Berau District Library experienced an increase in services, collections, and literacy-based activities, including community training programs. However, internal challenges such as limited facilities and human resources, external challenges including lack of stakeholder support and geographical access issues, and technical challenges such as limited infrastructure and library management systems were identified. The study implies the need for sustainable strategies to strengthen inclusive services and develop facilities that meet user needs.
