Abstract

This study aims to describe the attitudes and abilities of students at the University of Mataram in utilizing the Institutional Repository as a support tool for academic activities. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach with a correlational research design, data were collected through a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire from 100 students selected using purposive sampling. The results indicate that, in general, students exhibit a very positive attitude toward the Institutional Repository, particularly in terms of service flexibility, information diversity, interface design, and the accuracy and completeness of content. Furthermore, students' abilities in accessing, navigating, and utilizing search features—both simple and advanced search—as well as retrieving full-text documents, are categorized as very good. The average scores for all indicators range from 3.15 to 3.69, falling within the "good" to "very good" category. These findings demonstrate that the Institutional Repository has become an effective and efficient digital information source to support student learning and research. The study recommends enhanced promotion and ongoing technical training to encourage even greater utilization.

Abstract

Literatify Journal is an academic journal that publishes issues related to the development of libraries. This journal is officially published by the Library of UIN Alauddin Makassar. One of the methods that can be used to calculate the half-life and obsolescence of literature is through a bibliometric study. This is necessary as a consideration for determining the relevance and usage period of references in scientific works. This study employed a quantitative research approach. The population in this research consists of all citations referenced in Literatify Journal articles that include publication years. Based on the analysis of 46 articles with a total of 405 citations, the half-life of Literatify Journal publications from 2020 to 2023 was found to be 7 years. Among these citations, 145 (36%) were considered obsolete, while 260 (64%) were considered current. Based on these findings, it is recommended that future scientific works refer to literature published no more than 7 years prior to the date of writing.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of the West Kalimantan Provincial Library and Archives Office in preserving regional language collections to protect local cultural identity. Despite a steady increase in total annual deposit collections since 2008, regional language materials constitute only a very small fraction (0.07% to 0.26%) of total acquisitions. Through a qualitative descriptive approach involving interviews, document analysis, and observations with librarians, officials, and cultural actors, the study finds that preservation efforts are incidental rather than strategic. Key challenges include limited budgets, lack of technical expertise, restricted access to private collections, and absence of supportive policies. The study proposes a “Community-Based Deposit and Digital Preservation Model” that combines targeted deposit policies, community collaboration, and digital heritage strategies to enhance intergenerational transmission and sustainable preservation. This research positions regional libraries as proactive agents in digital cultural safeguarding, advancing the transformation of local libraries beyond mere repositories.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) as a form of library automation in SMA Negeri 12 Sinjai and analyzes its implications for service efficiency, information accessibility, collection management, and user satisfaction. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and focus group discussions involving librarians, teachers, and students. The findings indicate that SLiMS contributes to faster service transactions, improved access to collections through OPAC, more systematic collection management, and higher levels of user satisfaction. Theoretically, this study extends the discourse on library automation by demonstrating that the success of automation in school libraries is not only determined by technological availability but also by user acceptance and institutional readiness. However, this study is limited to a single school context and relies primarily on qualitative data, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings. Future studies are encouraged to involve multiple sites and integrate quantitative measurements to strengthen comparative analysis.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged public libraries to transform into digital-based services. The Library and Archives Office of Sinjai Regency introduced the Elfan Bookles Library application in 2020 to expand access to digital collections; however, its utilization rate remains low. This study aims to evaluate the optimization of the digital library service at the local government level. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis involving purposively selected informants, including the head of the office, librarians, and digital library users. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, guided by Gibson’s organizational effectiveness framework, which emphasizes effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity as key performance indicators. The findings indicate a 36.1% decline in application users over the past two years, despite fluctuating physical visitor numbers. Promotional efforts through social media and banners have not been consistently implemented, and the digital collection remains limited and unevenly distributed. These conditions contribute to low user engagement and limited service productivity. The study underscores the need for improved promotional strategies, diversification of digital collections, and continuous technical enhancement to achieve optimal service performance. This research contributes to the application of organizational effectiveness theory in evaluating digital library services at the local government level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning and role of ecoliteracy in shaping the professional identity of library and information science students. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection conducted through observation and in-depth interviews with nine respondents from the library and information science program at Muhammadiyah University of Sinjai. Based on the data analysis, the results of this study reveal three main findings. First, students' understanding of ecoliteracy is still limited, often viewed only as practical environmental concerns and not as systemic ecological awareness. Second, the internalization of ecoliteracy values into the professional attitudes of prospective librarians is still low. This is due to the lack of integration of ecoliteracy concepts into the curriculum, the lack of role models, and the absence of adequate guidance. Third, ecoliteracy is seen as a complementary element that can enrich and modernize the image of the librarian profession, but has not yet become the core of their professional identity. This study concludes that ecoliteracy has strategic potential to shape librarian identities that are relevant to the global challenges of sustainability.

Abstract

This study investigates strategies to enhance community reading interest through the Social Inclusion-Based Library Program at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Bima City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research describes strategies applied to increase reading interest, the implementation of social inclusion programs, and challenges encountered. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from both primary and secondary sources. The analysis followed data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the library applies four key strategies: technical training and service equalization, service maximization, promotion, and collaboration. The implementation focuses on two main principles—community welfare through literacy and equitable access to library services. Internal challenges include communication gaps and limited facilities, while external ones involve low public awareness and weak collaboration networks. Overall, the program contributes to improving community motivation to read, enhancing skills, and strengthening the library’s role as a social learning center and driver of sustainable literacy movements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Interlibrary Loans (ILL) as a conflict resolution mechanism through negotiation within the library information services ecosystem. This study fills a gap in the literature that has focused on the technical-operational aspects of ILL, by offering a new perspective emphasizing the social and managerial dimensions of conflict in interlibrary collaboration. The method used was a qualitative systematic literature review (SLR) of published literature from 2021–2025 from the Scopus database. The research design followed PRISMA guidelines with a Boolean strategy, strict inclusion-exclusion criteria, and quality assessment using the CRAAP Test, resulting in 12 selected articles based on currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis using NVivo 12 through a systematic coding process to identify patterns and relationships between the literature. The results identified four main categories of conflict in ILL: operational, technical, financial, and legal. Various strategic resolutions such as integrative negotiation, mediation, standardization of procedures, and the application of technology play a crucial role in managing these conflicts. ILL success is measured through service utilization, user satisfaction, cost efficiency, collaboration intentions, and competitiveness. Theoretically, these findings broaden the conceptualization of ILL beyond just a technical support service to a dynamic and adaptive negotiation platform. Practically, this research provides a structured framework for library managers to develop systematic conflict resolution strategies and reinforces the importance of negotiation competencies and collaborative policies in fostering interlibrary cooperation.

Abstract

This research discusses the utilization of printed theses and digital theses at the UPT Library of UIN Datokarama Palu as reference sources for students. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a comparative method. The research population is the final semester students of UIN Datokarama Palu, with a sample size of 99 respondents selected using incidental sampling technique. The data collection methods used are observation and questionnaire. The data analysis conducted in this research is using the assistance of the (SPSS) version 25 to carry out data analysis activities. The research results show that the average utilization rate of digital theses is 3.08, while printed theses achieve an average of 2.99, both falling within the good category. Based on the results of the Paired Sample t-Test, a significance value of 0.062 was obtained with a calculated t-value of -1.886. This significance value is greater than the significance level of 0.05, and the calculated t-value is smaller than the table t-value, which means there is no significant difference between the utilization of printed theses and digital theses as student reference sources.
