Abstract

This study aims to describe the attitudes and abilities of students at the University of Mataram in utilizing the Institutional Repository as a support tool for academic activities. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach with a correlational research design, data were collected through a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire from 100 students selected using purposive sampling. The results indicate that, in general, students exhibit a very positive attitude toward the Institutional Repository, particularly in terms of service flexibility, information diversity, interface design, and the accuracy and completeness of content. Furthermore, students' abilities in accessing, navigating, and utilizing search features—both simple and advanced search—as well as retrieving full-text documents, are categorized as very good. The average scores for all indicators range from 3.15 to 3.69, falling within the "good" to "very good" category. These findings demonstrate that the Institutional Repository has become an effective and efficient digital information source to support student learning and research. The study recommends enhanced promotion and ongoing technical training to encourage even greater utilization.

Abstract

Literatify Journal is an academic journal that publishes issues related to the development of libraries. This journal is officially published by the Library of UIN Alauddin Makassar. One of the methods that can be used to calculate the half-life and obsolescence of literature is through a bibliometric study. This is necessary as a consideration for determining the relevance and usage period of references in scientific works. This study employed a quantitative research approach. The population in this research consists of all citations referenced in Literatify Journal articles that include publication years. Based on the analysis of 46 articles with a total of 405 citations, the half-life of Literatify Journal publications from 2020 to 2023 was found to be 7 years. Among these citations, 145 (36%) were considered obsolete, while 260 (64%) were considered current. Based on these findings, it is recommended that future scientific works refer to literature published no more than 7 years prior to the date of writing.

Abstract

This study analyses the role of the West Kalimantan Provincial Library and Archives Office in preserving local language books as part of preserving local cultural identity. The background of this study is based on the low number of local language collections in local archives, although the total deposit collection continues to increase. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with department employees, cultural figures, and direct observation of the collection management process. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validation using triangulation of methods and sources. The results showed that the agency's role includes collection procurement through APBD funds, maintenance, and preservation, but the focus on local languages is still incidental. The main challenges include limited budget, human resources, technology, and the lack of affirmative policies related to regional language preservation. This research recommends strengthening policies, increasing budgets, community partnerships, technical training for librarians, and digitisation of collections. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for local language preservation strategies in Indonesian local libraries. Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to modernize school library services that were previously managed manually. The main problems included slow service processes, difficulties in finding collections, and inaccurate administrative records. Therefore, the implementation of the Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) is considered important to improve efficiency, information accessibility, and the overall quality of library services at SMA Negeri 12 Sinjai. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires administered to librarians, teachers, and students. The collected data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, aiming to identify patterns and meanings. The analysis compared library conditions before and after SLiMS implementation and evaluated its effectiveness in terms of service efficiency, collection management, and user satisfaction. The results indicate that SLiMS significantly improved service efficiency, enabled faster collection searches through OPAC, enhanced data management, and increased user satisfaction. However, challenges remain, such as infrastructure limitations and the need for librarian training. Overall, SLiMS implementation can be considered successful, although sustainable support from the school is still required.

Abstract

The development of information technology has driven libraries to transform into digital-based services. The Library and Archives Office of Sinjai Regency introduced the Elfan Bookles Library application in 2020 to facilitate access to digital collections. However, its utilization rate remains low, which raises the need to study how the optimization of digital library services can be achieved. This research is important as it relates to improving public literacy and the effectiveness of technology-based public services. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively, including the head of the office, librarians, and library users directly involved with the digital library service. The data aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the strategies implemented in optimizing digital services. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This technique enabled the researcher to identify patterns, challenges, and opportunities for improving the implementation of the Elfan Bookles Library. The findings show that promotional efforts through social media, banners, and direct librarian services have not been maximized due to limited content and lack of regular updates. This has led to the low utilization of the application. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on digital library services at the local government level, providing recommendations for policy development and more effective and efficient practices of digital library services. Keywords: digital library, service optimization, Elfan Bookles, digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning and role of ecoliteracy in shaping the professional identity of library and information science students. The global challenge of the environmental crisis and the ever-growing demands of the librarianship profession make the integration of ecological values into the education of prospective librarians crucial. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection conducted through observation and in-depth interviews with nine respondents from the library and information science program at Muhammadiyah University of Sinjai. Based on the data analysis, the results of this study reveal three main findings. First, students' understanding of ecoliteracy is still limited, often viewed only as practical environmental concerns and not as systemic ecological awareness. Second, the internalization of ecoliteracy values into the professional attitudes of prospective librarians is still low. This is due to the lack of integration of ecoliteracy concepts into the curriculum, the lack of role models, and the absence of adequate guidance. Third, ecoliteracy is seen as a complementary element that can enrich and modernize the image of the librarian profession, but has not yet become the core of their professional identity. This study concludes that ecoliteracy has strategic potential to shape librarian identities that are relevant to the global challenges of sustainability. To achieve this, systemic support is needed through the integration of ecoliteracy into the curriculum, academic activities, and real-world practices in higher education. Keywords: Ecoliteracy, Professional Identity, Librarian.

Abstract

This study investigates strategies to enhance community reading interest through the Social Inclusion-Based Library Program at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Bima City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research describes strategies applied to increase reading interest, the implementation of social inclusion programs, and challenges encountered. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from both primary and secondary sources. The analysis followed data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the library applies four key strategies: technical training and service equalization, service maximization, promotion, and collaboration. The implementation focuses on two main principles—community welfare through literacy and equitable access to library services. Internal challenges include communication gaps and limited facilities, while external ones involve low public awareness and weak collaboration networks. Overall, the program contributes to improving community motivation to read, enhancing skills, and strengthening the library’s role as a social learning center and driver of sustainable literacy movements. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) as a mechanism for conflict resolution through negotiation in the library information service ecosystem. This study fills a gap in the literature, which has thus far focused on the technical and operational aspects of ILL, by offering a new perspective that emphasizes the social and managerial dimensions of conflict in interlibrary collaboration. The method used was a qualitative systematic literature review (SLR) of literature published between 2021 and 2025 from Scopus, using PRISMA guidelines, Boolean strategies, strict inclusion-exclusion criteria, quality assessment using the CRAAP Test, and thematic analysis with NVivo 12. The PICOC framework was used to guide the research questions. The results identified four main categories of conflict in ILL: operational, technical, financial, and legal. Various resolution strategies such as integrative negotiation, mediation, standardization of procedures, and adoption of technology play an important role in managing these conflicts. The success of ILL was measured through service utilization, user satisfaction, cost efficiency, sustainability of collaboration, and regulatory compliance. These findings indicate that ILL functions not only as a support service but also as a dynamic and adaptive negotiation platform. Keywords: Interlibrary

Abstract

This research discusses the comparison of the utilization of printed theses and non-printed theses at the UPT Library of UIN Datokarama Palu as reference sources for students. The problem that will be examined in this research is How is the value of the utilization of printed theses and non-printed theses in the UIN Datokarama Palu repository as a reference source for UIN Datokarama Palu students? This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a comparative method. The research population is final semester students of UIN Datokarama Palu, with a sample size of 99 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. The data collection methods used are observation and questionnaire. The data analysis conducted in this research is using the help of the Statistical Package for Social Science program, which is the software (SPSS) version 25, to carry out data analysis activities. The research results show that the average utilization level of non-print theses is 3.08, while print theses achieve an average of 2.99, both falling within the good category. Based on the results of the Paired Sample t-Test, a significance value of 0.062 was obtained with a calculated t-value of -1.886. This significance value is greater than the significance level of 0.05, and the calculated t-value is smaller than the table t-value, which means there is no significant difference between the utilization of print theses and non-print theses as student reference sources. This indicates that although non-print theses slightly outperform in some indicators, statistically their utilization level is still comparable to print theses. In other words, these two types of collections are still utilized relatively equally by students of UIN Datokarama Palu as reference sources to support academic activities.
