The publication of an article in KAISA is an essential building block in the development of a respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. KAISA journal published two times a year in the following months: March and September. Each issue consists of nine (9) articles and therefore every volume has eighteen (18) articles. The focus of KAISA is to provide scientific articles on Education and Learning that developed in attendance through academic articles, critical statements on current issues, developmental practice, action. KAISA journal welcomes papers from academicians on education and learning, curriculum and teaching methodology, technology in education, educational psychology, management, and leadership education, childhood education, chemistry education, distance education, language education, mathematics education, and vocational education.

Abstract

The current learning paradigm has changed from being teacher-oriented to student-oriented. One of the student-oriented learning strategies is discovery learning. However, there are still many teachers who do not understand the meaning of student-oriented in practice, then the teacher dominates learning in the classroom learning and eliminating the participation of children to be active. This study uses a qualitative approach and the data were collected using the library research technique. In the discovery learning, the teacher designs some problems about learning themes and the students are given the freedom to find their own concepts that will be learned through critical thinking so that become life skills for them. Discovery learning changes the conditions of passive learning into active and creative, the students are given the freedom to explore, actively create, and generalize their knowledge. Through discovery learning strategies, the students are expected to become problem solvers to solve some problems and make decisions.Paradigma pembelajaran saat ini sudah berubah dari yang bersifat teacher oriented menjadi student oriented. Salah satu strategi pembelajaran yang berbasis student oriented adalah discovery learning. Namun, masih banyak pendidik yang belum memahami makna student oriented pada pelaksanaannya, kemudian lebih mendominasi pembelajaran di kelas, sehingga menghilangkan partisipasi anak untuk aktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan. Pada strategi discovey learning, guru merancang beberapa masalah tentang tema pembelajaran dan siswa diberikan kebebasan untuk menemukan sendiri konsep-konsep yang akan dipelajari melalui berpikir kritis yang nantinya akan menjadi life skill bagi mereka. Discovery learning merubah kondisi belajar pasif menjadi aktif kreatif, Anak diberi kebebasan untuk mengeksplorasi, aktif menciptakan, dan menggeneralisasi pengetahuannya. Melalui strategi ini anak diharapkan dapat menjadi problem solver, sehingga mampu menyelesaikan masalah dan mengambil keputusan.

Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate English learning on the components of the context, input, process, and product. This research is an evaluation research. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation then analyzed descriptively. The conclusions in this paper: 1) the value of the context of the initial condition of the institution is sufficient, the value of the input of the sub-components of facilities and infrastructure, sufficient teaching staff and curriculum, the value of the process of the planning and implementation of English learning is lacking, and the value of the product component on student learning outcomes; and 2) the recommendation of this paper, the head of the institution needs to review or change the implementation of the institution's curriculum for reform for a better direction, provided there are many English textbooks, teachers must make lesson plans based on the syllabus of competency units.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris pada komponen context, input, process, dan product. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Kesimpulan dalam artikel ini: 1) nilai context untuk kondisi lembaga sudah cukup, nilai input untuk sarana dan prasarana, tenaga pengajar dan kurikulum memadai, nilai process untuk pembelajaran perencanaan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kurang, dan nilai komponen product terhadap hasil belajar siswa sudah cukup, dan 2) atas rekomendasi artikel ini, pimpinan lembaga perlu mengkaji ulang atau merubah implementasi kurikulum lembaga untuk reformasi ke arah yang lebih baik, dengan syarat buku teks bahasa Inggris yang banyak, guru harus membuat RPP berdasarkan unit kompetensi silabus.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the role of character education in building the critical thinking skills of the young generation in Indonesia. The method used is literature review or literature study, which contains theories that are relevant to research problems. Based on the discussion, there are roles for character education in building critical thinking skills for the younger generation, including the Strengthening Character Education program. Also, learning activities within the framework of student character development can use a contextual approach as a learning and teaching concept that helps teachers and students relate the material being taught to real-world situations. To support this system, the younger generation also needs to familiarize themselves with dialogue, communication, discussion, and attending various scientific seminars. By engaging in activities based on academic intellectuals, they can practice thinking in a structured, logical and systematic manner, broad insight, inclusive, rational, critical, selective, and constructive in observing themself and social reality. By implementing character values, the role of the younger generation in Indonesia is increasingly real and can bring change for the better.Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran pendidikan karakter dalam membentuk kemampuan berpikir kritis generasi muda di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi perpustakaan atau studi literatur, yang berisi teori yang relevan dengan masalah penelitian. Selain itu, kegiatan pembelajaran dalam kerangka pengembangan karakter siswa dapat menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual sebagai konsep belajar mengajar untuk membantu guru dan siswa dalam menghubungkan materi yang diajarkan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Untuk mendukung sistem ini generasi muda juga perlu melibatkan diri untuk berdialog, berkomunikasi, diskusi, dan mengikuti berbagai seminar ilmiah. Dengan melibatkan diri ke dalam kegiatan berbasis intelektual akademik, mereka dapat berlatih berpikir terstruktur, logis dan sistematis, berpikiran luas, berwawasan luas, inklusif, rasional, kritis, selektif, dan konstruktif dalam melihat realitas diri dan sosial. Dengan mengimpelentasikan nilai-nilai karakter, peran generasi muda di Indonesia semakin nyata dan dapat membawa perubahan, tentu kearah yang lebih baik.

Abstract

This is the qualitative study discusses the use of Google Classroom as a learning medium to increase learning motivation. The problem is that face-to-face or offline learning is less effective so the student learning motivation is not increased optimally. The purpose of this study is to determine the increase in learning motivation. All data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results show that using Google Classroom is very helpful in increasing students' learning motivation. It makes the students more enthusiastic and active in attending lectures and discussions, they are also free to express their opinions and improve their thinking skills to solve some problems related to the material being studied.Ini adalah kajian kualitatif yang membahas tentang penggunaan Google Classroom sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar, permasalahannya karena perkuliahan tatap muka kurang efektif sehingga motivasi belajar mahasiswa tidak maksimal. Tujuan dalam kajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan motivasi belajar. Teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Google Classroom sangat membantu dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa, terutama dalam pembelajaran. Motivasi yang meningkat menjadikan mahasiswa semangat dalam mengikuti perkuliahan. Google Classroom memberikan wawasan serta pengalaman dalam proses belajar mengajar. Mahasiswa sangat aktif dan antusias dalam mengikuti perkuliahan dan diskusi, mahasiswa juga bebas menyampaikan pendapat serta mengasah kemampuan berpikir dalam menyelesaikan masalah terkait materi yang dipelajari.

Abstract

This article aims to understand the basic concepts of counseling in Islam which are derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. Data related to counseling were analyzed using the content analysis technique and then interpreted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings and conclusions in this article are that Islamic counseling is an activity of providing advice, guidance, and lessons to individuals in need based on the foundation of Islamic teachings, namely al-Qur'an and al-Sunnah. Based on the al-Quran, Islamic counseling must contain at least three main concepts, namely al-hikmah, al-mauidhah al-hasanah, and al-muajadalah bi al-ihsan. Meanwhile, based on the hadith, the implementation of Islamic counseling puts forward the concept of counseling where the counselor must be a role model or uswatun hasanah. Islamic counseling must also elaborate Philosophical, Psychological, Theological, Sufistic, Socio-Cultural, and Pedagogical foundations.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memahami konsep dasar konseling dalam Islam yang bersumber dari al-Qur’an dan Hadis. Data-data terkait konseling dianalisa menggunakan teknik content analysis dan kemudian diinterpretasikan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Temuan dan simpulan dalam artikel ini adalah, konseling Islam merupakan aktivitas pemberian nasihat, bimbingan, pelajaran kepada individu yang membutuhkan yang aplikasinya didasarkan pada landasan ajara Islam, yaitu al-Qur’an dan al-Sunnah. Berdasarkan al-Qur’an, konseling Islam setidaknya harus memuat tiga konsep utama yaitu al-hikmah, al-mauidhah al-hasanah, dan al-muajadalah bi al-ihsan. Sementara berdasarkan hadits, pelaksanaan konseling Islam mengedepankan konsep nasihat-menasihati dimana konselor harus menjadi teladan atau uswatun hasanah. Konseling Islam juga harus dielaborasi dengan landasan filosofis, psikologis, teologis, sufistik, sosial budaya, dan landasan pedagogis.

Abstract

The cognitive development of group B children at RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik in capturing the learning activities content has not developed optimally and still needs improvement. This is descriptive quantitative study aims to determine the effect of the question and answer method on children's cognitive development. Data were collected using observation techniques, questionnaires, and documentation. The subjects of this study were 58 children and 8 teachers at RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik who were taken using a total sampling technique. The findings show that the cognitive development of children in RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik is increasing very well (93.07%). The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant influence between the question and answer method on the cognitive development of group B children in RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik.Perkembangan kognitif anak kelompok B di RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik dalam menangkap isi kegiatan pembelajaran belum berkembang secara optimal dan masih memerlukan peningkatan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode tanya jawab terhadap perkembangan kognitif anak. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 58 anak dan 8 orang guru di RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik yang diambil dengan teknik total sampling. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan kognitif anak di RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik berkembang sangat baik (93,07%). Hasil uji paired sampel t-test menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan antara metode tanya jawab terhadap perkembangan kognitif anak kelompok B di RA Ibnu Khaldun Pedekik.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the Indonesian learning outcomes in the aspects of reading skills in the response text material. This study is a Classroom Action Research with two cycles consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 65 students of class IX MTsN 1 Bengkalis. Data were collected through observation and test techniques and then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. After the improvement in cycle II, student learning outcomes both individually and classically increased by 9% from 77% in cycle I to 86% in cycle II. The Secret Card Box method is effective in improving Indonesian language learning outcomes in the aspect of reading skills on the response text material.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Bahasa Indonesia aspek keterampilan membaca pada materi teks tanggapan. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan dua siklus yang terdiri dari atas empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaa, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subyek penelitian adalah 65 siswa kelas IX MTsN 1 Bengkalis. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi dan tes kemudian dianalisa menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan tindakan pada siklus II, ketuntasan siswa baik secara individu maupun klasikal mengalami peningkatan sebesar 9% dari 77% pada siklus I menjadi 86% pada siklus II. Metode Kotak Kartu Rahasia efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar bahasa Indonesia aspek keterampilan membaca pada materi teks tanggapan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the application of personification games in improving gross motoric ability of children 5th years. The method used was Classroom Action Research with two cycles and three meetings. The stages in each cycle consist of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Research data were collected using interview techniques, observation and documentation. Qualitative data is described by sentences based on each category. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were analyzed using the percentage formula. The findings in this study are that the optimal applications of personification games give a good contribution to children's gross motoric ability. The children are able to develop the strength of their limbs by playing properly. It was concluded that the gross motoric ability of children in RA Ibnu Khaldun Bengkalis improved according to the age of growth.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan motorik kasar anak usia 5 tahun menggunakan permainan personifikasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan tiga pertemuan dalam dua siklus. Tahapan dalam setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Data kualitatif dideskripsikan dalam bentuk kalimat berdasarkan kategori dan data kuantitatif dianalisa dengan rumus persentase. Temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah, permainan personifikasi meniru gerakan binatang secara optimal dapat memberikan kontribusi yang baik pada perkembangan motorik kasar anak. Anak mampu mengembangkan kekuatan dan ketahanan anggota tubuhnya dengan cara bermain yang benar. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan motorik kasar anak di RA Ibnu Khaldun Bengkalis meningkat dan terarah sesuai perkembangan usianya.

Abstract

Mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII.A students of MTsN 1 Bengkalis are still relatively low and have not reached the minimum completeness for each basic competencies. This is because there are still many students who are not active yet in learning activities and their assumption about mathematics is a difficult subject to understand. This research is a Classroom Action Research conducted in 2 cycles with 6 meetings using the cooperative learning model type two stay two stray with 35 students as research subjects. Data collected by observation technique and tests before the action and in each cycle. The findings of this study were there is an increase in the completeness of mathematics learning outcomes by 31.43% from 28.57% before the action to 60% after the second cycle. The results showed that the cooperative learning model type two stay two stray can improve mathematics learning outcomes.Hasil belajar Matematika siswa kelas VIII.A MTsN 1 Bengkalis masih tergolong rendah dan belum mencapai ketuntasan minimal untuk setiap kompetensi dasar. Hal ini disebabkan karena masih banyak siswa yang kurang aktif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran serta asumsi siswa yang menganggap pelajaran Matematika adalah pelajaran yang susah dimengerti. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang terdiri dari 2 siklus dengan 6 pertemuan menggunakan model pembelajaran cooperative learning tipe two stay two stray dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 35 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes sebelum tindakan dan pada masing-masing siklus. Temuan penelitian ini adalah terjadi peningkatan ketuntasan hasil belajar matematika sebesar 31.43% dari 28,57% sebelum tindakan menjadi 60% setelah siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran cooperative learning tipe two stay two stray dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the students’ mastery on constructing simple present tense of the English Education Department at STAIN Bengkalis and which part would be the easiest and the most difficult to master. The subjects of this study were 19 first-semester students who were given a multiple-choice test. This research was descriptive quantitative and the data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics 20. The findings showed that the student's mastery of constructing simple present tense was at an average level with a mean of 64.08. The easiest part for them to master is affirmative sentences with subjects I, You, We, and They with a mean of 66.32. Meanwhile, the most difficult part was in a negative sentence with a mean of 63.16. The analyses explained that the majority of the students made mistakes in putting ending –s/-es for the verbs with subjects She, He, and It, and also still had problems in forming negative sentences in using auxiliaries do/does. It is recommended to English lecturers have more focuses on giving information in forming a Simple Present Tense.
