Abstract

As an important chapter in Indonesia's modern history, Japanese occupation had profound impacts on every aspect of the nation's culture and society. It was at this time that Japan started to develop and manage Indonesian film industry which was crucial in providing the idealized and positive role models needed to strengthen and reaffirm Indonesian nationalism. Considering the importance of this industry, this paper aims to investigate how the concepts of nationalism and national characters unique to Indonesia are defined and reinforced in wartime newsreels used as social communication tools under Japanese imperial control. The method used in this study is discourse analysis to observe the ideological messages inside the newsreels important for nation building. The result of this study shows that the main elements in films of this period are systemically designed to construct narrative in line with Indonesia’s nation building despite its nature as media of Japanese propaganda. Through the use of cinematic discourses, newsreels tend to visualize images of an emerging nation having successfully developed a sense of identity and national belonging. This analysis is further contextualized with the propaganda reports of the time to identify how the Japanese inspired nationalism is still embodied in modern texts.

Abstract

The immune system is a system that is able to protect the body from microorganisms that cause disease. This system can limit microbial colonization in the oral cavity and prevent the penetration of harmful substances. The immune system is related to health problems in the oral cavity. Black cumin (Nigella sativa L.) has the main active component, namely thymoquinone. Thymoquinone has an immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant effect that shows an important role in oral disease management and also in oral health. Research shows that the substance thymoquinone in black cumin has an effect on increasing the immune system in the oral cavity. The research analyzed was research on the effect of black cumin on the immune system for oral health. The use of black cumin containing thymoquinone is effective for increasing the immune system in the oral cavity, if used at a concentration of 0.1%-0.2% and applied directly to the area that is experiencing inflammation. So it can be concluded that black cumin has an effect on increasing the immune system in the oral cavity.

Abstract

To correct malocclusion and malposition in dentistry using orthodontic treatment. Teeth that have moved through the bone with orthodontic devices tend to return to their original position or what is usually called relapse. Relapse is when the teeth return to their original position before orthodontic treatment was carried out. Relapse prevention can be achieved using mechanical devices but there are still some limitations. The use of scaffolds can be a solution in preventing tooth relapse because scaffolds can support cells to grow and develop into new bone in the damaged area. The scaffold components are hydroxyapatite, gelatin, and rosella flower extract which contains flavonoids to inhibit bone resorption. To find out whether these components are toxic or not before they are applied to the human body, a cytotoxicity test is carried out, which is a laboratory study. This research was carried out by incubating the hydroxyapatite scaffold, gelatin and rosella flower extract with osteoblast cells for 24 hours to see whether the rosella extract was toxic to osteoblast cells. Conclusion: This toxicity test shows that rosella flower extract as an ingredient in making scaffolds is not toxic to osteoblast cells.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and statistically test the role of marketing strategy on pricing and its impact on purchasing interest. This research was conducted at Cafe Covare Graha PPI using a survey method and analyzed using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling method. The total sample was 196 respondents who were chosen randomly. The analysis results show that; 1) Marketing strategy significantly influences pricing, 2) Marketing strategy does not have a significant influence on service quality, 3) Marketing strategies do not have a significant influence on consumer buying interest, 4) Pricing has a significant influence on purchase interest. Competitive prices that align with the value perceived by consumers can significantly increase purchasing interest. 5) Service quality does not have a significant influence on purchasing interest, 6) Marketing strategy has a significant effect on purchasing interest through pricing. Good pricing can bridge the influence of marketing strategy on consumer buying interest. 7) Marketing strategy does not significantly affect buying interest through service quality. This indicates that service quality is not a strong mediating factor in the relationship between marketing strategy and purchase intention.

Abstract

Rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) can be used in the health sector. Rosella petal extract contains flavonoids such as gossypetin, hibiscetin, sabdaretine, alkaloids, and saponins. Rosella has properties such as an antiseptic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and can increase endurance. This paper discusses the anti-inflammatory effect of the rosella plant. The purpose of this article is to describe the effectiveness of rosella plant as an anti-inflammatory. This article collects research results from journals, textbooks, and websites accessed through the National Library of Medicine and Google scholar databases as a method. The reference source inclusion criteria are published in 2012-2022 with topics that are in line with the effectiveness of rosella as an anti-inflammatory. The reference source exclusion criteria were literature published before 2012. A total of 25 references were found, 15 references were selected, and 10 references were excluded. The studies have shown that the content of rosella flower extract is able to inhibit the cyclooxygenase enzyme thereby inhibiting the synthesis of inflammatory mediators, namely leukotrienes and prostaglandins and reducing the number of neutrophils so that it can accelerate the wound healing process, however administration of high doses of rosella extract is less effective as an anti-inflammatory because the levels of flavonoids decreased activity at high extract concentrations.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of communication creativity in personal selling strategies to increase the number of customers in the Marketing Team of the Regional Water Company Tirta Asasta Depok in 2024. The method is an exploratory case study. Primary data was collected through interviews and direct observations, while secondary data was gathered from literature, company documents, and previous research. The theoretical framework includes Computer-Mediated Communication, Social Exchange Theory, and Media Convergence Theory. The research findings show that communication creativity in personal selling involves utilizing media convergence tools such as laptops, WhatsApp, email, and Zoom to interact and negotiate with customers. This strategy is further enhanced by offering rewards, providing gifts, and using motivational narratives to build relationships. It also includes delivering more comfortable services with improved negotiation management and collaborating with local authorities to expand outreach. As communicators, neat and polite appearances, along with the use of "lip service" to create comfort and trust play significant roles. However, communication barriers were negative customer perceptions regarding new connection fees, public corporate image, and the skepticism toward government-owned enterprises. The findings indicate that creativity in communication can effectively enhance customer acquisition.

Abstract

Orthodontic treatment results are prone to relapse over time, which is the unfavorable change in position of teeth to its original position before orthodontic treatment. With that said, retention is an important part of almost every case of orthodontic treatment. There are many contributing factors to the incidence of a relapse. This article aims to explain the incidence and prevention of relapse after orthodontic treatment through reviewing literature published during 2012 to 2022 which discusses topics that are appropriate and related to relapse and retention. Sources were taken from textbooks, journals and websites that can be accessed through Google Scholar and PubMed databases. A total of 30 references were found, and 9 articles were included in the integrative review after further analysis. This article concludes that relapse is a common occurrence after orthodontic treatment because of gingival and periodontal factors, occlusal factors, soft tissue factors, hard tissue factors, and growth factors, and its prevention requires the use of retainers, either removable or fixed, depending on the case.
